  • Awesome band, awesome tune. Glad to see Fee and the boys still having fun. Saw them back in teh 80s, great show.

  • This singer, this song - this bad is extra ordinary - Fee! You F'in rock - don't ever let that fire die!!

  • Yea cool video and music

  • Waybill is such an awsome singer and entertainer.

  • this dude did not age well. original video was awesome.

  • @arnold84500 i agree. but hell we all are fuckin older! (:>(

  • @spaceghost30082 age sucks but the alternative is death so i'll take aging. Fee was awesome in the 80's.

  • @arnold84500 ah yeah. like i totally agree. (:>) the tubes are so tubular. < i think that means cool? i cant remember im so dam old. lol.

  • truly great!

  • I fucking love this group. I swear. They are the shit. I remember this one time I saw them at the Cow Palace with my friend Mike Brewer..It was awesome. Best acid and show EVER.

  • IMHO, FEE WAYBIL WAS THE MOST NATURAL VOCALIST OF THE ERA

  • Vocalist is in his mid-fifties here. Inspirational to say the least.

  • @rickstill122 and no beer gut !! :-P

  • one of the best bands! great songs! i wish i could them see live. thank you for the fun.

  • Saw them in Chapel Hill, NC on Halloween night, 1983. AWESOME SHOW! There was a costume concert during the middle of the show.

  • THey still rock, they still tour and are as good as ever!

  • It's been six months, she ain't shut up once! Sayin' like it is. . Class all the way!

  • Saw the boy's at alumni hall, university of western ontario in london, ontario back in the early '80s. great live show. very visual with amazing interaction with the crowd.

  • Aging rockers having a blast! I love it!! Wish those times could come back!

  • Best music I've heard today

  • Everybody in this band can sing amazing. Great players.

  • Saw them ? years ago. They wore gray suits and ties.Very odd for a rock show at the time.Fee was a great showman. The band was very good. I remember walking away feeling I saw a great show.

  • @sinmike1 Oh Ya, I saw their completion backward principle tour back in the 80's. Great show..

  • See... this is what rock is SUPPOSED to be----FUN & ENTERTAINING!!! This was the music of my youth and we could always depend on even the most underrated bands like this one to deliver the goods. I feel sorry for you kids today. You're stuck with freakin' Lady Gaga!

  • White punks on diversified mutual funds, getting plenty of fiber because, you know, you have to look after things, and hell no you can't take the car.

  • Another one of those fantastic bands that hardly anyone has ever heard of. Damn are they good.

  • Gary Cambra's a nice guy the guitar player his son goes to my school haha

  • long live music from the 1980's

  • I remember (how could I forget) seeing the Tubes about 8 years ago. Other than KISS, they put on the best stage show I have ever seen. During 'Sushi Girl' Fee came on stage wearing scuba gear and had a bunch of women running around dressed as mermaids. He also had a trout for a microphone. Difference between the Tubes and KISS is that the Tubes are far better musicians.

  • OLD MEN GET 'JIGGY WIT IT !' TO FAGGOT RIDDEN GLAM BAND APPARENTLY LOST IN A TIME WARP !... at least have the courtesy to wear a HED WIG and do some QUAY LUDE whilst donning some sequins and high heels !

  • Top live performance

  • Fee Waybill is still a wild eyed dicksucker after all these years.

  • These guys are so incredible, I've been lucky to see over 30 shows and they nver disappoint

  • Great Live reproduction of the record!

  • Great version of a song I can totally relate too!

  • I was at this taping at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville.. it was the Tubes, and that other Bay area band, that did sister Christian.. the Tubes kicked ass that night

  • I remember seeing these guys on SCTV. Gil Fisher the fishin' musician.

  • I remember seeing the Tubes in a bar in Tempe, Az before they ever hit it big. I love the group though they did tick off the loyal Arizona following they had because though they were originally from Tempe, Az they claimed to be a California band. They didn't think anyone would like a group from AZ. Let's see Gin Blossoms, Rob Halferd (Judas Priest), Alice Cooper to name a few. They hd no problem with there roots in AZ. Still though love the group.

  • @crushfan76 It is called publicity.

  • god-DAMN! amazing band. If you never saw a Tubes show, I feel sorry for you. I saw them about 10 times.

  • @Engage777 I've seen them once. Wish I would have seen them more! I actually got to talk to Fee & shake his hand!

  • Awesome memories! Saw The Tubes at the Keystone in Palo Alto in 83 or 84... Fee showed up 2 hours late and made up for it by playing for close to 3 hours.

  • @mrknet I was there. Funny, did not seem like he was that late. I do remember chanting.

  • @noeljdun12 The MedFlies and MOB opened for the Tubes and then there was a very long break... The Tubes came on (minus Fee) and played instrumental for about 20 minutes until Fee showed up at about 11:00 pm. Then they played until a little after 1:30 (with a couple of breaks of course.) I got home around 2:15 and then called in sick to work the next day. I also saw them perform at halftime at Candlestick when the 49ers played the Vikings in 1984. Man, do I feel old right about now!

  • @mrknet You should not feel old. You remember a whole lot more than I do! I just remember screaming FEE!!!

Having been up close and personal in years not long ago. I am not so taken. Rick and Prairie have been much better gentlemen to me.

  • @noeljdun12 LOL! I totally understand that sentiment!

  • @mrknet Being raised in the Bay Area, The Tubes were a staple for me. It was not until 2007 and forward that I ever got to chat with them. Roger and Fee were distant. The others not at all.

  • @noeljdun12 The reaon I laugh is that I have a friend who has been in the music biz since we graduated high school in the late 70's and he has told me on several occasions the very same thing. He also really liked Vince and was not surprised when he went to play with The Grateful Dead. I personally have never met any of them, but they haold a special place for me as well since I grew up the Bay Area too.

  • Great memories! Saw the Tubes on New Years Eve 1982 in San Jose, been a fan since!

  • FANTASTIC!!!!!

  • I was at this show about 15 feet from stage left, with my 13 year old daughter she kept saying "you people are nuts" when they did WPOD ! But she enjoyed it ! It was at Mark and Brian Halloween parade in Fullerton Ca. ! The reason Fee says talk to you later "Again" is because when they taped it something happened to the recording so they had to do it all over which us Tubes fans didnt mind lol but they did Talk to You Later WPOD and some new song that was it but we LOVED every minute of it !!!!

  • I jusr saw Fee in Hammond In. Horseshoe Casino doing a USO show. Just two songs but it was great. !2/2010. He took off the shirt tooo. After 30 years the voice is still there. Richard Marx band backed him up. It was a speacial night.

  • They rock here as well as they ever did!!

  • Great Sir Luketh tune - I remember when it came out. Didn't know Steve Lukather wrote it until YEARS later.

  • Tied for the #1 most underrated band in the world!

  • what a fucking rockin' performance.

  • These guys are excellent musicians and play way beneath their abilities. One of the hardest rockin' and working bands in the business. See them while you still can. I plan on doing just that in a few weeks.

  • Wow! Fee doesn't seem to have aged much at all since the 20 or so yrs that he was more high profile in the 80's (@ the time of this video)

  • go fee go!!!!!!!!

  • Excellant !

But who is the second guitarist and the keyboard player ??

  • @podoau Gary Cambra, great musician. No longer with the band.

  • A M A Z I N G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The Tube, worlds greatest rock band ever, come on, ya gotta agree!!!

  • Wow!...sounds great!

  • I just saw them today at the 2010 Sausalito Art Festival. They were EXCELLENT... Amazing amount of energy and still very dynamic! I saw them in 1983/84, and I'm still grateful they are playing.

  • F'in Fee. The real deal

  • Always liked this song; part of those great 80's. Super live performance. Thanks for posting!

  • 2003?

  • AWESOME performance across the board here! One of my favorite songs from the 80s done justice and how, and I agree with how bands these days just ain't this good anymore. Are these guys still around? If they are, I bet they're just as great these days, too!

  • wow!!!!!!! he looks the same...........

  • Talk about a true stage master! Fee blows away all the fucked up produced muppet babies pucked up by the record company DRONES these days. Rock on FEE, RODGER, PRAIRIE, and RICK!. And R.I.P. Vince Welnick.

  • @tommyboy6267 fee and the rest of this band are the dogs bollocks !! i have seen them every time they have come to the uk !!!!!!! amazing band .. !!!! one of the best !!!

  • really enjoyed this, they are as tight as the record..

  • Kramer!

  • Awesome Band !!! They are comming to San Diego at 4th and B on June 25th 2010

if anybody needs tickets hit me up !!! johnnymudd@msn.com

  • Man... I'm impressed. I was a huge Tubes fan in the 80s, but never got to see em live, except on Night Flight (back in the day). Thanks for posting..

  • I'm going to see them OCT23 in Shirley MA. Can't wait!

  • How can you not like a song by a group who's singer is named Fee Waybil?

  • This is a pretty jamming live version of this song. I like it.

  • Fee (John) Waybill is the tenth muse. He'll be cooler at age 70 than 99.9% of any 20-somethings... Tubes are the second must underrated band in existence.

  • @xyaqua so who is the most underrated band?

  • @jonnybogue tHE sAINTS

  • @jonnybogue

    Wire.

  • @xyaqua: Oh, gotcha, yeah, I like Wire, haven't listened to them in forever, time to dig those records out. Never listened to the Saints, Salaminguana, I'll check 'em out.

  • The lead guitarist extreme right also features on Chicago/EWF live. Thanks for posting, this is top!

  • Wow, these guys are still really good after all these years. That was clean.

  • Ô.Ô From 5:07 to 5:30, total, earth-shattering eargasm!!!

  • @rodrigoviegas ...Holy crap! You ain't kidding!

  • see you around.. hopefuly not

  • godz... can you say, "take 20 downers and hit the stage?" Sure. I knew you could.

  • After seeing your comment, I expected to see Fee and the boys nodding off out there, but they definitely are not nodding. Maybe something else was shared backstage before the gig, but I'm thinking not downers.

  • The tempo is too slow. That's what I'm saying. No snap in it like the actual album recording. Or, like the way Steve Lukather plays it live (which is the same tempo as the actual recording).

  • i seriously thought he was saying toke to ya later . now its just stupid white people easy listening rock

  • Is this the only tune they did that night ?

  • In the 70's, the Tubes were in the same stigma as Burt Reynolds. Ever since Fee did the Sports Fan video stark naked, the band was not taken seriously by the record labels, hence, promotion was weak.

  • I just met Roger steen last night, he was a pretty nice guy. (he's the guitarist/second singer)

  • Holy Crap! Fee hasn't aged a day! Whatever he's doing, he needs to bottle and sell it!

  • The Tubes never received the overall exposure, and accolades they deserved, IMO. Very enthusiastic vocalist. 5 Stars.

  • many new wave and punk bands of that time didnt either

  • chinasherry1961: So true. Another great band that went scantly noticed was Split Enz. Sometimes I feel the industry has ripped us all off. They promote only those they want, and only skim-over many other talented groups.

  • I agree. I saw The Tubes in Seattle Wa. sometime in 1981or 82 and that show remains to this day the best live concert I ever been to.

  • I agree, and that was because when their records were released they were years ahead of their time.Maybe they are not in the hall of fame but their music will be in our ears & hearts forever.

  • @terrafirma91 I recently seen The Tubes at The Tangier in Akron Ohio and they put on one kick ass show!!!!!

  • @Robtechx1 : I'll have to search them out on the internet. Hopefully, I'll be able to catch them the next time they might come around. Looks like these guys can get the audience into their show, too?

  • Fee is a legend!

  • They sound as great live as on the record, even after all these years! YEAH!!! My band does this song - People light up and get up and move for this song. Great job guys! Brilliant writing and arrangement. One of my most favorite songs ever: 'Don't Want To Wait Anymore" (Tubes, Backward Completion Principle album). Keep on rockin' guys!

  • Ok...I meant say what you want...this band rocks

  • day what you want...thhis band and this song is badass!!

  • Spock was stunned and fascinated. :hihi:

  • In 1984 show Fee came out nude - VERY well-endowed!

  • @skidd651 LOLOL

  • these guy were great live. I opened a show for them.

  • Unreal..Guys were a joke in the day..No they were not!! They ROCK!!

  • man...CRANK THIS MFER UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Unreal band. Tight...The 80's suked . Not the Tubes!

  • man...do I agree with your post! although The Police were pretty good in the 80's...then they split

  • >> ...The 80's suked

    ?? Compared to todays crap?

    The 90's sucked.

    Early 80's was the best.

  • @coralseaclyde 80's RULES

  • An Anthem for guys but chix dig this song too. It was on the Nashville Network...

  • rick anderson on bass guitar woooo

  • Having seen these guys preform in 1978..you have NO IDEA how great they sounded in a small club....very up front and personal with their fans...and FEE dancing on my table...OH MY LORD...giant grin:-)..thanx 4 the video

  • The tubes always total class

  • This is one of the best live performances on youtube. I was totally surprised by the duel tapping/lead guitar harmony at the end---very cool! Wish we saw stuff like this more often.

  • absolutely

  • Good stuff!

  • Fee Waybill sure has a lot of stage charisma. He kind of reminds me of Bonn Scott.

  • just missing a bit of the Luke feel there. even other pros cant pull it off but hey, it's alright. ps... Eddie just plays the same chit over n over. Luke and Landau - right up there with Beck

  • I heard these guys used to play shows naked. That's probably why they never got big. I don't want to go to a concert and watch a dude's junk swinging in the wind.

  • No, they didn't perform naked, although Fee Waybill did wear s&m clothing, loin clothes, and other such skimpy outfits during certain songs.

He changed outfits during shows several times (I think still does, though not as much), and has many characters like "Quay Lude", a burned out rock star, during the song "White Punks on Dope". Fee is an excellent showman, and shouldn't be missed while he is still in the buisness.

  • @40milesband i have pics of his bare bottom. If that counts.

  • @noeljdun12 Indeed, Fee Waybill did occasionally expose himself, something he was arrested for in England in the early 70's during a publicity stunt in the band's early years. But as for "performing naked", I think that is mostly myth, and unrealistic. I mean, there are laws, you know. But many of his stage costumes were pretty skimpy for sure.

  • Fucking muthafuckers , they sound incredible after so many years , Fucking muthafuckers, BlancotronCC thanks x the video !!!

  • More Cowbell!

  • Faster! More Trumpet!

  • I'm glad EVH taught them how to play with both hands.

They didn't do so in the 80s

  • shut up.

  • Eddie's best pal Steve Lukather played the original guitar solo on this and She's A Beauty

  • Ed doesn't have any best pals. He can't keep a band together unless they are his family.

Roth is the face of the band and the only voice anyone wants to hear so he has to be in there.

  • Why are the great bands never appreciated by the masses? Saw these cats in '76, and they kept getting better every album, love Remote Control, still stands the test of time.

  • 30+ years old, and they are still amazing!

  • Saw them in Sweden last week. They still rules live. They knocked us all down with their rocking songs... Love them!!!

I TALK TO YA LATER !!!

  • alot of dudes in the audience, more than i would have expected

  • tomorow the tubes are in holland and i'm looking forward to see them again LIVE!!

  • Classic! Brilliantly performed!!!

  • The Tubes are so underrated. i just saw em in NYC and they wer amazing!!

  • WE ARE NOT WORTHY!

  • I love the Tubes, especially Fee! Can't wait to see them this summer!

  • Steve lukather co wrote it and he played all the guitar on it.

  • Wow. What a good band! Always assumed Lukather played the leads in this but after hearing this and She's a Beauty live I don't think so.

  • great performance...love the extented version

  • Luke was asked to write a song for The Tubes. This is the first. He wrote "Shes A Beauty" a couple years later

  • going to see them in NYC later this month, at BB Kings.

  • Absolutely brilliant. This is why i have always loved this band!

  • Awesome upload!!! Fee!!!

  • is any one able to post their clip from the film Xanadu? thx

  • the tubes back in zooetermeer, holland, june 09 wpod

  • You're also going? :D

  • My god Rolf Harris on guitar!!!??? uhuhu

  • DidN'T He do the back up vocals on the song- "WHITE PUNKS ON DOPE" ???

  • is this song origial of Tubes? or steve Lukater of toto???? tell me please, thank`s

  • Steve Lukather co=wrote it with David Foster and the Tubes

  • Is that Phil Hartman singing? lol!

  • No, its Kramer

  • bloody great, one of the greatest bands!

  • Late 80's...early 90's..who remembers??

a club in the basement of the former

L.S. Good Department Store in Wheeling, WV..Kick Ass!

  • The Tubes are criminally under rated, but Fee Waybill has a vocalist is even more under rated! His voice is SHARP and still is to this day. Has not lost a stop as a vocalist IMHO.

  • Saw the tubes in the 70's in concord,ca. on a halloween night, that was a good show, what i remember of it!

  • Nice job! Especially considering Toto's Steve Lukather( my fav!) was on the original recording!

  • They sound as good, if not better than they did in '82, however, Fee Waybill looks very Cosmo Kramerish...

  • One of the great bands. So says this semi-senior citizen :-)

  • Saw the Tubes at the now locked and long-gone Chi Chi Club in SF in '84....best f'ing show ever...they still resonate and continue to inspire

  • One of the Greatest bands in the world !!!!

  • here in Spain,in early 80`s the principal TV played a tubes song on news program....and I like since them.

  • As I mentioned near the close of the last record, this record you are now playing is another example of the `Completion Backward Principle'. If you can possibly manage the time, please play both sides at one meeting.

  • They didn't really shut TNN down. That actually became another channel we like to call SPIKE TV!

  • What a great post. These guys really should be touring again, if there not already.

Great memories. Thanks for the post.

  • You know, I must have been the only person under 50 to see them in Elgin.

  • Their heyday was the late 70's early 80's so it makes sense there would be a lot of semi-senior citizens like me there(46). Not sure why they played in Elgin instead of closer to the city, it was a nice venue but I would guess maybe 200 in audience.Anyhow I thought they sounded really good.Well worth the drive.

  • Saw them last night in Elgin, IL. Awfully good, but the band is thinning out. Roger is working the guitar parts alone now, and doing just fine. Fe
