  • So Much ENERGY .......coming out this skinny body ? JUST incredible .....Dude :-)

  • This jam holds up after all these years...classic

  • I HAVE CYMBALS FROM JERRY SHIRLY DRUMMER HE LEFT EQUIPMENT IN CLEVELAND,WHEN HE WAS DOING A DJ POSITION HERE AND WE WHERE WORKING DOWNTOWN AND CAME ACROSS THEM AND OLD PICS OF STEVE MARRIOTT AND HUMBLE PIE , A FEW OF HENDRIX AND OTHERS I HAVE TO GO THRU THEM ALOT OF STUFF.

  • Saw them at Charlton in the early 70s......... man, my ears are still ringing !

Grew up all through Stevies career and still play all his records to this day.

Little white boy with the big black voice. Miss yer man x

  • i have the "Rock On" LP and it's a great listen from a-1 to b-6.

  • this is in your face rock & roll.....

  • Stone cold kick in the n#%s!!

  • Rock on !

  • After Stewart was in & Steve out of HIS band ,the Small Faces -Humble Pie was the Phoenix that rose from that pyre to kick everyone's ass.

  • Guitar sound from HELL!! Brilliant!

  • Check out old videos of Steve Marriott when he headed up the Small Faces during the 'British Invasion' of the early '60s. Back then he was laying down the roots of hard rock that eventually made the transformation from "Itchycoo Park" to "Thirty Days in the Hole"

  • what was humble pie's best album?

  • @roaringwaterbay All of them

  • @mdugand i can relate. i am a fan of certain bands.

  • @roaringwaterbay Try Smokin or the Live at the Fillmore was best Double Live album really gives a feel for their concerts good luck

  • @webgibs I have to second that. But I also want to clarify: It's Rockin' the Fillmore. Or even more correctly, Performance / Rockin' the Fillmore. I would not want folks to get confused and miss out on one of the best live albums of my generation.

    People, find this album.

  • @roaringwaterbay definitly "Rockin the Fillmore " the Best Live Rock album ever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Rock and Roll baby...

  • Always thought the lyrics were:

Cried so hard, my head is spinning

    Something's wrong, only raining

I ain't washed, as long as my hair

Without you it's a daydream nightmare

  • Thank you so much for sharing.

  • rock on

  • wow.

  • God, I wish Steve was still here. What a void.

  • Seen them in 1971. Elvin Bishop opened for them at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds, California, no chairs just standing room only bring a blanket or something I just stood.

  • Outstanding Rock music!!

  • Post Zep , Pre Aerosmith , I don't know if they ever got their due. Humble Pie just flat out ROCKS.

  • @gearbox38 Sorry, no offense but Humble Pie formed in '68, the same year as Zeppelin. Not as popular probably, but recorded some great stuff at the same time.

  • @daven58100 Plant used Marriot's singing style of an old blues tune for a song on Led Zeppelin 1.

    Zep skyrocketed.

  • @robbiedaug You're probably right. Even though Pie started '68, Plant was probably aware of Marriott from Small Faces before.

  • just listen to the jazz fusion riffs that these guys put down.Pure talent and music innovation. They were awesome!

  • This must be the first proper riff I ever learned on the guitar. I remember listening to them on my cassette walkman when I was 12. The song that follows "Stone Cold Fever" on this album is "Rolling Stone" - another hair-raising masterpiece and a great cover. I used to listen to this album like 4 or 5 times in a row... you took me way back with this man... thanks...

  • The sickest band ever. Fuck today's crap, rip off shit.

  • Best.

  • Great stuff on this album. Frampton's playing was jazzy and pointed me off into the jazz-rock genre after I had started out with blues rock. Of course Marriott was the total rocker with his singing, guitar and harp playing. Rock On Steve !

  • saw the Goodbye Pie tour through Tulsa....I feel extremely lucky to have been there watching Steve spit in air over his head. never ever forget that man

  • I AM LOST WITHOUT HUMBLE PIE , LOST ALL MY ALBUMS IN A DIVORCE. STILL HAVE TO REPLACE ALL ALBUMS...... BEST BAND EVER...KATHY FROM N.Y. - WENT TO ALL CONCERTS IN THE 70'

  • Little man with a big voice!!

  • something about weed

  • I used to play my mom's broom to this.... and I never made any mistakes.

  • It was about being honest back then. No pretense. Give whatcha got. Be reckless AND dignified. Marriott was great.

  • One of my all time favorite rockers form the previous century. Yes!!!!!!

  • Gee whiz--this makes the act-tough growler bands sound cheezy.

  • HOT!! SO good i love good rock and roll. They need more music like this something you can just rock out on ...THIS IS THE GOOD STUFF!!

  • love this fucking band

  • WHy was Steve Marriot such a fucking bad ass!!! He just was !!!!!!

  • this has made me just start a download of Humble Pie music

  • I would like a bit more cowbell.............

  • @drumsyeah

    That was Blue Oyster Cult.

  • 3 justin beiber fans just didnt understand this band.

  • nobody and i mean nobody rocks like this anymore bring it back now

  • I can't believe it.....how many years ago was this...and yet it seems like only yesterday!! These guys were smokin hot!!

  • One of my all-time favorite Humble Pie tunes right here!

  • Peter Frampton is playng lead guitar

  • @ystoyanov Frampton is a pussy.

  • @G8GT364CI not in this song he ain't

  • whos playing the guitar solo?????

  • @nerdflanders8710 A genius, Frampton.

  • figured I'd listen to somethin a little different than the usual led zepp pink floyd or the ramones, I'm really starting to like these guys

  • @corpralkirsch oh really. i thought you liked the village people

  • @MrSchmuchface Jesus christ dude how long do you plan on being a dick wad if your looking to piss me off than you should stop wasting your time, i would really appreciate it if we could stop this spineless arguing for once

  • @corpralkirsch hahahahaha. alright.

  • @MrSchmuchface thank you

  • A suggestion..............early Grand Funk Railroad live, Free, and Sweet.............great late 60's-70's bands, Sweet was more Glam and mid 70's, but have some great songs.

  • @38Achilles Amen brother. but also dont forget "thin lizzy" "steppinwolf" " and "BTO"

  • This was the perfect mix of Delta blues with footstomping rock ever. Just a fantastic blend of talent. Jay already knows me and my love for Steve and his many collaborators. Rock on men.

  • This band rocked their souls to the wall. I saw them once, and they kicked my @~~ What are they doing now, any body know?

  • @wc4dblues

Well vocalist/guitarist Steve Marriott and vocalist/bassist Greg Ridley both died. Peter Frampton voc/guitar still has his solo career, Clem Clempson who replaced Frampton after "Performance Rockin The Fillmore", plays with his old mates in Colosseum, Jerry Shirley the drummer was in Deborah Bonham band a while ago, and he wrote a book about The Pie, and other bands that he was in. It should be released this year.

  • @xJayWalkerx Thank you, You seem to know quite a bit about these guys, do you know them?(did you know them?) The only bad part was I saw them at Swing auditorium in San Bernardino Ca ( a real shit hole) But they

were my favorite band at the time, I wish I remembered more of the show, but..... it was the 70s and we did some things I wouldn't do now... HAHA fun fun fun...

  • It doesn't get better than this........such a great era for pure Rock! Music today can't compare to the late 60's and 70's. Humble Pie, Grand Funk and Free........my Fav!

  • 3 dislikes? huh, what were you listening to to give this a dislike?

  • blac & white is red (or read?)

  • dont really like the guitar solo, especially not in contrast with the old school blues harp sound. Other than that, this song rocks

  • @TimBirkenholz ......the contrast is what made Humble Pie special.

  • Great bass line

  • Wow, three deaf muthas checked out this video. Bummer.

  • Raw emotional rock n roll at it's finest

  • You've got that right mate.

  • Marriott was and IS the greatest. No more to say. The GREATEST

  • ZepNCat, Marriott is THE best rock singer ever!

  • wowowowowow another grt8 cool music guysXXXXXXXXXXXXXXlov HXXXXX

  • This is for Akileas: The drummer for Humble Pie was Jerry Shirley. In my opinion he is one of the most underrated drummers in Rock History. He never really received the recognistion that he should have received.

  • After Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabath, Humble Pie was my old time favorite pet band. Bravo Steve Marriot, Petr Frampton, and the drummer, I can't remember his name, but he was soo good.

  • greatest - most memorable - song 'hook' in r&r history

  • saw the farewell concert in Chicago, loved these guys!

  • Humble Pie shut it down back in my day. I remember initially thinking the singer, Steve Marriott, was a large black woman when I first heard him back in high school. Great stuff ~ transcends time, that Pie :)

  • nice vid. back in the day, there was an instant connection with a pie fan. you all knew. this was special.

  • The worlds most underrated rock band

  • What an amazing band they were!

'72 Humble Pie concert in the Sam Houston Coliseum, my husband says lets go outside for some fresh air...i trip over one of those metal things in the cement used to keep doors open...and tripped right into johnny law...no not johnny depp....and no not johnny angel...so we might or might have not picked up some second hand ghanja smoke...: )...long story we went to the slammer...the heat simply had no sense of humor back then...did they...: )

  • @pfigment amazingly enough I was at that show... and they totally blew the roof off! Sorry you had travails.

  • in 1970 we had a volkswagon beetle withe about a 250 watt amp hippie engineered in it ,five of us would light two or three joints and turn stone cold fever up with all the doors and windows closed and it was like sitting in ear phone I still have ear damage to this day......rest in peace Steve

  • @liljohnnydel1 too right mate !!!

  • Love these guys --especially Marriott - out with the harmonica and the attitude. Great stuff. Ever hear anyting like this today??? NAH. Not happenin'.

  • from 1:48 to 2:28 some of the best instrumentation of its era. to those who never got a chance to hear these guys you missed out, big time.

  • Great Tune by a Greater Band, glad they were around during my time

  • One of the most amazing bands ive had the honor to witness

  • steve marriot i hope you no jesus christ for your lord in savior rest in peace brother

  • Steve Marriot Is what made this Band he wrote most all of the songs ,Great musican, and he is a great singer.P Frampton also good but not as good as Marriot

  • @jaypauljackson They did a whole lot of cover tunes, and quite simply made them their own.

  • this band rocks,Steve Marriot was awesome!

  • Humble Pie in the 70's! Saw them every time they came to town, at least three times. First band I took my then girlfriend too. She was blown away! Never heard such loud, nasty rocknroll! Oh yeah!

  • HUMBLE PIE THE MOST UNDERRATED BAND IN THE WORLD

  • @CHEAPFK No. That's The Enid.

  • @CHEAPFK i agree, need music like theirs was, in the world today, what happened to the magic from 60s,70s rock bands? someone has to fill that void, there are a few good bands out, but not with the same feeling as the core 60s rock, not the same!

  • @CHEAPFK You're spot on. The best live band I ever saw, and I saw them a lot. Steve Marriott was the best singer I ever saw too.

  • Forget famous producer Bruce Dickinson...or BOC...the prescription is filled...0:43

  • Listen to Rock in Fillmore version 10 times better than this one and this one ain't that bad !

  • pure rock&roll...............at its rawest form

  • Somebody on another post mentioned Small Faces - not a bad band: Marriott, Frampton, Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood, Nicky Hopkins . . . need I say more?

  • reminds of good morning little schoogirl riff

  • great macho rock..who's shirley???

  • What rock 'n roll used to sound like.

  • @sdgakatbk Still does in my mind!!!

  • Forty years later and this tune still gives me goosebumps the size of psilocybin mushrooms.

  • brilliant - thanks

  • Absolutely my favorite riff since I was a kid

  • Yea , Reisterstown Md , Tony,s Dream ,15 mile house , Our Garage Bands all did a take on the PIE . Panters Mill Venue neevr had them ?

  • Wow! Thank you for making this vid! The photos are amazing. They really capture the energy. Decades ago when I first heard Humble Pie it changed everything. Thank you!

  • This band were HUGE! Bigger than you can imagine carguy. They blew GFR off the park in Hampstead, were one of the biggest attractions in the States tween 69-73.

  • thanks for posting this. Humble Pie with Frampton in Wildwood, New Jersey was the first concert I ever saw and was the best concert I ever saw.

  • In americia Humble Pie is definetly the most underated band ever

  • i think i'm the only person in america that loves steve marriot, I listen to the Pie on record eveery day when I wake up. No joke, no lie

  • @stevencrime I do listen to Humble Pie every day when I wake up, it puts the rokin' in me

  • I'm 30 years old and I've been listening to Blues-rock for about ten years now, and I can't bloody believe I discovered this band only a couple of weeks ago.

  • @Motorsheep if you got netflix.or just look for it.a DVD called,

i think. The Steve Marriott story, something like that and it rocks!!!! Steves voice is so...Powerful!!! A perfect concert...Black Sabbath,Grand Funk Railroad,Humble Pie,The Rolling Stones!

  • @astonsfan Thanks, mate!

  • @Motorsheep

where you from, the moon??? Only kidding, lol

  • @Motorsheep you are in for one great ride. check out 'small faces' and everything steve did after humble pie. all just as good.

  • Killer band!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what a truly great rock band they were....thanks for remembering this!

  • good creation is only rock and roll

  • one of the best rock and roll songs ........ever

  • There was nothing that sounded anything like this song did at the time, that is for sure. And I loved all the photos you put up to go with the song. Rare Marriot and Pie pics. Coolio! Great stuff. thanks!

  • @surprisevisitor20000

Yes! I've been a fan of Steve M. since the Small Faces! And I never tire of the power and deep sincerity of the man's voice! Guess I liked Small F's since I was in Jr. High. Then, comes Humble Pie- I'm blown away! Great talent from way back when!

I love music from this era, and feel sorry for lots of younger folk. They don't know this was everyday music to us. Lots of what passes as music today just ain't it! JipHop sux, to use the vernacular.

    Blessed 'Be

  • Thanks for your reply! It made me come back here to hear this song. Ohhhh the power! I agree - every other day back then you could just wander over to the record store and pick up something like this album based on the cover alone - even if you had never heard of the band before. You'd take it home, give it a spin, and be addicted to the sensation du jour, like what happened to me with these guys. I still absolutely love this - almost 40 years after I first heard it (I was 14 yrs old)!!!

  • Anyone know of pictures from The Filmore albun. Some of them would be just stunning. I would pay for one...

    Ha

  • Now if I could see an original Pie video of this I would cry.

  • me too!!!!

  • stevie marriot was the blackest white man....he WAS humble pie

  • RIP STEVE M. YOU WERE HUMBLE PIE.

  • I like the bass work on this.

  • Frampton MADE the Pie, with his lead work...... Maybe not his full song writing... But man... (my opinion) after Rockin the Fillmore.. the Pie lost some edge.. Frampton gone = no more milky solo's.

  • A very good photo collage to accompany a great song by a great band. Nicely done. Thank you!

  • steve marriott is da Bomb, makes Frampton look amatureish. How about lost & found

  • i loved Small Faces .this is dreadful.i liked Every Mothers Son and cover of For Your Love.Framptons songs were the worst.

  • thanks for posting ,takes me back to my teens!

  • That is one sick riff.....great band !!!!!

  • Just Brilliant !

I loved the Small Faces, and then Humble Pie !

Stever M was just great, and everyone else he ever played with.

    Man ! I'm stoked !

Thanks for posting this, man!! Good Deal !

  • Excellent song & video!

  • Great vid! Tnx!!

  • Could you add "Big George" and "Shine on" from the "Rock On" album to this great collection of Humble Pie songs you've started? It's just too bad that there is so little actual footage of the band available, but you've done a great job with this slide show.

  • Frampton was, and still is such an amazing and tasteful player...and Marriot is one of the best rock singers ever!

  • @zepncat Frampton still tours. I've seen him numerous times at the Brea Summer something or other. He kills it every time. He seems like a real nice guy too.

  • @zepncat Marriott was NOT one of the best rock singers ever HE WAS THE BEST EVER ROCK SINGER OF ALL TIME

  • @mrguitar52 Marriot almost joined the group that was going to become Led Zeppelin. However, someone allegedly made a threat towards Page and told him that if he went after Marriot that he would be playing guitar with broken fingers.

  • this band should have been alot more famous they have a lot of talent

  • @carguy12345678910

I am now 53 years old and they were and are extremely famous.

  • @carguy12345678910 They are famous in the minds of music lovers, they are just not that popular with todays music listeners, which have been made shallow by the crap that is played on radio today.

  • thanks for replying to my 4 month old post dumbass that was along time ago

  • @carguy12345678910 what's with the attitude? smoking bad weed or something?

  • @jst1998 you are bumping old posts

  • @carguy12345678910--What? They weren't more famous?

    (He posts sarcastically...)

  • @carguy12345678910 I agree. Along with Buffalo Springfield.

  • screw you Guitar Hero...this is what its all about!!

  • Seems like there'd be more footage of these guys from back then. They were really popular...Not like they were obscure. The only footage they ever show on t.v. is lipsynching of "Natural Born Woman."

  • Natural Born Boogie.

  • @STPdemon Back then if you had a video camera you had about a million bucks!! and if you did have a video ,where did you save it to? I would love to go back to the late 60's and 70's to all the concerts I went to and have a picture or video of them for sure!!

  • Hello!

I TRIED TO GET IN TO SEE HUMBLE PIE THREE TIMES BUT TICKETS WERE SOLD OUT. NOW THIS IS WHEN ME AND MY WIFE (of 25 years) FIRST GOT MARRIED.

  • Just a great band.I bought Jerry Shirleys old Humble Pie drum kit in 1973 and used it myself for 20 years or so.

  • steve had the most fantastic voice.every time reminds me how brilliant he was.

  • nice!

  • loving reading all of your comments..nice that a band from so long ago can still bring us together..

That VOICE...holy schmoly. Sends his energy right to your soul..I am hooked. AGAIN.

  • Steve died in a fire in his cottage in Essex after returning from the USA where he was working on some new stuff with Pete Frampton. It was Jim Leverton and Jerry Shirley in Marriotts packet of three as can be seen on the DVD "Steve Marriott live in London" which is well worth a look. R.I.P Steve, your missed.

  • What happened to Jerry Shirley? The last I remember he was a DJ in Cleveland Ohio, ran off with some charity money.

  • What? Where'd you hear that?

  • It was a big scandal in Cleveland about 10 or more years ago. The radio station had a food and money drive called "30 days in the hole". JS would stay at a trailer and receive donations. Some money was found to be missing.
