I just loved Victorian Farm, am loving Edwardian Farm, and just found Victorian Pharmacy and Tales from the Green Valley. This series is so refreshing! Imagine, no fighting, swearing, backstabbing, etc. so common on "reality" shows here in the States. Will it ever be released in a United States compatible DVD format? There are those of us here in the US (no, really, I'm not kidding) who are longing for this type of quality programming.
If you like this then look into the “PBS House Series” such as colonial house, pioneer house, 1900s house, 1940s house, texts ranch house, and manor house. It the same concepts except its with done with the average modern man volunteering instead of historians so you get a bit of drama but there is also real wonder as people discover how their ancestors lived.
@gilesderoet HAHA, I don't think so, there are people who like this sort of stuff, I would gladly do what they're doing...it's an amazing experience. Anyway, I think they get an occasional weekend off to visit family and friends so it's not that bad.
@stupidintellect90 That would be ok I guess- I love watching this stuff but would never do it. I tend to see the whole of human history as a headlong drive to get as far *away* from nature as possible!
@gilesderoet When you put it that way....you do have a point. Technology keeps making things easier and easier. That and over the ages man has been trying to either tame, destroy or manipulate nature in many ways....hmm, never thought of it before, this is why I like reading comments!
I've wanted to be an archeologist ever since I was 6 and these programmes are the best things on tv...sadly I missed Green Valley and i can't find it anywhere :( Wales is gorgeous...summer camping trips are not enough I need to buy a farm down there!
hey its me again. i would really really really really appreciate it if any will upload this on youtube. i've just finished watching victorian farm and i need something else. please i am dying to watch this.
@TaterFarm Thank you for letting me know. I watched it from the beginning when it was shown on tv. But I wonder if they've completed a year of an era of farming because they usually do it from harvest to harvest which should be around this time. I really do hope so :)
i'm obesessed with period dramas, period everything, this is perfect , i'm definately gonna look for it on ebay. and wahoo victorian farm is repeated everyday this week !yay
This series lokks and feels as if it was actually filmed in the 1600s. Amazing telly. I would love to own that music..anybody know where it is available?
I wish they would do this sort of stuff in Australia. The only thing we've done here is Outback house and that was crap. Australia isn't old enough to have deep history, and a lot of historical houses and areas we once had were bulldozed for modern crap. I really wish I could do this type of project, or 1900 House or 1940s House....come on Australia - do something!
I can't find this for purchase in NTSC format anywhere, nor can I find it online. Please, please could you upload this to youtube?

They must have had a truly enormous grant to do this. No amount of money you could pay me to sod about with sheep in the snow.

@stephenloof
-the music was composed by a bloke called David Poore
-unfortunately the bbc dont routinely release music from their documentaries.
-However, there are contact details on his website, and he emailed me some short mp3s of the music :)
