  • Descansa en paz, maestrazo!!! Hiciste maravillas

  • R.I.P

  • When considering how many artists borrowed from Moebius' style I think it is fair for him to be aware that he has had a profound influence on his contemporaries. If that means claiming a sense of genius it is only because others have affirmed that. Giger or Artaud, examples of very self-critical and powerfully self-aware artists, have shown similar abilities to be at peace with adopting a sense of recognizing their genuis. It's not always a luxury of arrogance but a position of acceptance.

  • Giraud is generally self-deprecating and humble in many ways. He is intensely internal and in recognition of what goes on in his mind and in the history of his work and how that translates to his practice. I believe his comment about "genius" comes from a similar place of being very self aware of the product of his work and internal talent.

  • Hail Moebius. Father of my dreams!

  • RIP, M. Giraud.

Ganz neuen raum

  • Just finished reading the Incal for the first time. My mind is forever blown.

  • does anyone actually have this to upload?

  • Moebius is GOD.

He can call himself a genius or a flying pink elephant or whatever he wants

  • Mike Mignola is so right!

I love Moebius works in any of his styles.

  • He means 'genie' has in 'jinn'.. which is a kind of spirit. ;)

  • If anything I think he is very humble. He credits forces outside of himself and acting through him for his fantastic visions but he is a person that has mastered and honed his craft over years with great self discipline and zen like focus.

  • He's very arrogant to call himself a genius

  • @iDraw3G He IS a genius and he's aware of it, that doesn't make him arrogant just self conscious.

  • @Mentok76 Even Picasso didn't call himself a genius

  • @iDraw3G Well, Moebius certainly does...

  • @Mentok76 Not at all. He calls the aliens, gods, etc., genius, and not himself. He only called himself a conductive (conduit) for whatever he feels is outside himself that is responsible.

  • @ehcmier Ok, let me put it this way, in my humble opinion, wheter he said it or not, he IS a genius. His art moves me, fascinates me, his creativity is unmatched.

  • @iDraw3G

He doesn't call himself a genius : the translation is bad on this point. He says something is acting in him ( other than himself ) when he draws. Then he says : these things can be gods, or GENIUSES, or maybe aliens, everything is possible.

I hope i made it clear, not sure... But believe me, i am french, and the way he said that was not arrogant at all.

  • @aymericfavre The translation, in fact, states clearly he does not believe it originates in himself, and that the *possible* genius is not his own, and only acts through him. He calls it several things, and genius is only one term he suggests is, as he says, a possibility. Anyone who misses that is insecure as hell and/or scores badly in reading comprehension.

  • @iDraw3G He didn't. Your reading comprehension is appalling. He was very clear and you missed each key word but "genius" totally out of specific and clarified context. You must be terribly insecure.

  • @ehcmier

This debate aside, there is no one on Planet Earth at this juncture (1/2011) that comes close to

Jean Giraud. Sylvain Despretz, who was one of his greatest students, comes close but he has

given it up to direct films.

  • I love Moebius's work, does anyone know what he's doing in comics these days?

if he has any upcoming projects in the works?

  • Nice 3d feel from the flat art.

  • My dad, loves this guys stuff, and I my self have fallen in love with his as well. It's fantastic that artists like Jim Lee, Mike Mignola, and Enki Bilal given him his recognition. P.S. Dad has been looking for that famous coffee table book that he did.

  • Perfeito! Endosso seu argumento e sua opinião. Vídeo ótimo sobre um gênio. Gostei do vídeo, do gênio e da análise crítica, informada e culta. É isso aí!

  • The man is truly brilliant! The worlds he creates is fantastic!!One of my true comic heroes! He has always been a inspiration for me. Thank you Mobius

  • Et vive Dame Kowalsky!!!!

  • I discovered Moebius today...

    I LOVE MOEBIUS

    Viva Major Grubert!

    Viva o Rola-Doida!

    Viva Lewis Carnelian!

  • il a marqué la bande dessiné, it's a genius

  • His work makes my day, and his universe is perhaps the greatest of all

    Brilliant

  • "...they're all possibilities." - Beautiful. The man doesn't clutter his mind with dogma, just lets the magick come through.

  • He opened my mind... he is the Guru of illustration...comics... inner world and other worlds...and he has a great sense of humor... what an inspiration.. i would love to meet him one day ..and..say thanks i guess..him and Enki Bilal are the Top imaginations of science fiction comics.. me thinks..

  • Moebius is the greatest. Often imitated. Never matched!
