  • i think they would prefer that people dont gamble with borrowed money so they dont rack up a huge debt

  • @Mrstiggy200 Then again, how would that explain the debit cards?

  • well what about hentai.

  • While I think the credit/debit card companies do have a point, they're basically trying to fight free speech.

  • aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh uhhhhhhhhhhhhh ,fuckk me hard baeby ,fuck!!!! porn is free.

  • they should not control what u buy

  • as from the words of the late george carlin, you don't have rights. you never did. all you ever had was privlages

  • @josh24441 ---well said...

  • XD I couldn't buy minecraft for PC just because of "security reasons". They didn't even state what they were. >:O

  • @343griffin What state/country you in? It may be something to do with that.

  • @Charlie12292001 Im in canada ontario

  • Time to switch to cash...

  • You won't see me back here in the very near future...Only I can see you

  • My bank/VISA is refusing me to allow purchases in the state of California. Now, it's for security purposes due to some phishing scam but this denies my ability to pay for WoW via credit card, or use paypal/ebay. sooooo yeah... that kinda sucks.

  • Wiki leaks is about concpiracys.. And credit companies won't let u donate. Sounds fishy to me...

  • The credit card companies shouldn't be held responsible for these purchases.

  • I think the FBI and NSA and Pentagon to name a few, are forcing the Credit Card Companies' to not allow people to donate to WikiLeaks.

I didn't know that about gambling. I haven't been to a Casino. I guess people people who only make the minimum payments on the monthly credit card bill would somehow beat the system and buy $1000 bucks worth of chips but only pay $30 bucks to Amex or whomever.

but as for Debit cards at Casino, I guess they are worried about theft or overdrafts.

  • I think American Express is going to lose all of its customers in Colorado and California.

  • @PossumCuber why those states?

  • @Sk3pTy Lots and lots of weed.

  • Time to move card companies

  • Notice how Jon put PETA and the KKK together LOL

  • what the fuck?! THEIR moral image?! It's MY fucking card! if I want to buy something, with MY money, where did they get the idea it has to pass their moral code! wtf?! next year google says what you can and cannot search on!

  • @sohigh10 they already ban certain search phrases ^_^ they ban for good reasons though.

  • @NWProductionsHD really? like what? I mean 'building a bomb' and 'free kiddyporn' are good things to block:P

  • @sohigh10 yeah they do ban child pornography I'm not sure what else but whenever the argument of googling blocking comes up that's the first thing to come up.

  • screw them, my money, my rules!

  • What is your opinion of the ban of online gambling websites/companies in the United States?

  • If one day I can't use my debit card to buy anything for any reason, BOOM, I'll just whip out some cash.

I don't even use fucking credit cards. If I'm gonna buy something, it's gonna be with MY money that I make. If I don't have the money to buy whatever it is I want/need I'll fucking wait and make the money to get it. I steer very clear away from credit cards.

Plus, who the hell buys porn? That's retarded. There is so much free porn online. hahaha!

  • It's your right? we're running out of rights in this Country

  • I support company decision to block that payment for online pornography.

  • Comment removed

  • credit card cannot buy many things? that's weird.

  • I definitely disagree with the credit card companies limiting what the card holder can buy, but at the same time I can see why they would do it. I personally think they can go take a long walk on a short pier, if they have a problem with something I spend my money, it's just that. their problem...not mine.

  • I agree with the pornography... not to mention online pornography contains many viruses. it would suck if you end up wasting your money for nothing.

  • @Midvanwham Isnt that up to the buyer?

  • They don't want you to gamble with your credit card because you could bet all your money and lose it they lose money

  • That is so stupid. Why do they do that?

  • When you use your debit card online or when you sign for it at a B&M, it's being used as a Credit Card, and the transaction is processed as such. If you used it as a debit card, with your PIN, it wouldn't even go through a credit processing company. So the fact that it affects debit cards seems more of an "unfortunate" side-effect, at least from what I understand.

    Still unpleasant, though.

  • I can understand such limitations on those with bad credit, but those who have good credit should be allowed to purchase items that they wish to.

However, I can totally see a ban on casinos, you could buy 100k in chips, then cash out 5 minutes later and skip for the border, nothing AmEx, or any other company could do about it. Plus, gambling on credit is what Mobsters are for.

  • credit card co. should stay out our buisness when it comes to purchases and stuff like that cause if i want to buy a fast food then that's my right cause my bank card from Nh. WAnt even allow that which i say is messed up.

  • i much prefer using cash but in the few instances i can only get something online i use my debit card but not all people accept debit cards its rly annoying

  • CASH IS KING!!!!

  • @psion0027 psion0027 IS RETARDED!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • how does that make me retarded? I've lived my entire life without using credit or debit cards. its not like the entire universe is run by the internet. you really need to get a life

  • @musefan258 He's not retarded. He just spends his money a different way. What's wrong with that.

  • I don't think they should be able to prohibit people from buying things.

  • do you go to Mohegan sun a lot?

  • Legalize medical marijuana everywhere

  • @Violentresponsegamin How about no. I don't want my, or my dads money for taxes that should go to important stuff like education go towards helping a bunch of fucking potheads get their fix because they are too lazy to get a job and buy it from a dealer and go to rehab like they should or just not do it all, LIKE THEY SHOULD.

  • Maybe credit card companies want to look good. If people hear that they don’t let customers use certain transactions, people might be impressed, and want their services. More people=more money. I think.

  • i think it would be good for students and people owning a credit for the 1st time

  • heck no they don't have the right to tell me what i can and can't buy w/ their card

  • love your shirt !

  • I think it would be morally wrong if credit card companies let customers buy gambling chips on credit.

IMHO: if I'm gonna gamble, I'll gamble with my own cash. If I've got no cash, I won't gamble.

  • The medical marijuana ban is asinine. Obviously, if the person has a prescription from a doctor in a state where medical marijuana is legal, why would American Express POSSIBLY have a problem with that? How is that any different than somebody paying for a legal Oxycontin prescription at their pharmacy?

  • Also, in Canada anyways, unless you purposely buy a chargeable debit card from Visa or Master Card, you get a debit card issued to you directly from the bank--it's not done through a third party like Visa. As such, the only restrictions on your debit purchases are those imposed by the type of bank account you have, and unless you set up through an auto-debit site like PayPal, you can't make direct online purchases with a debit card.

  • I can guess why they might ban the purchase of chips at Casino's. A lot of people will put aside hard cash before going to a casino, but I imagine a lot of people who have busted their bank accounts (i.e. Problem gamblers) will then turn to their virtual money such as credit cards, and in such instances most people are very unlikely to be able to pay back the debt incurred on a credit card. But casino's still want the money, so they install an ATM to make you spend it anyways.

  • Uh, it's not your right to donate to illegal services, AKA Wikileaks. The only reason it exists today is because websites are hard to permanently shut down.

  • Stop wearing the same shirt in every video.... BUMB.

  • that's why you use cash!

    it is the best!

  • I don't have, neither want a credit card.

  • And thats why I youse cash. Wait what gerge, not red, only on black, if you say so.

  • Why would anybody purchase porn online? Its free.

  • @y2knoproblem sex toys

  • @y2knoproblem *cough* before flash was good so porn sites could pay for porn with ads *cough*

  • BULLSHIT! We have the right as Americans to buy whatever the hell we want, when ever the hell we want. So fuck American Express, and Master Card.

  • @Simpsonsman120 And fuck Capitolone!

  • i see it with the point-ography, but not allowing to donate to a non-profit? seriously?

  • Should they vs Can They doesn't matter, law is set before this thought. In every case I see, The "Can They" Wins legally and then they do, the "Should They" only comes up in big industry cases, and also the Can they, people just tend to leave people alone until another (rightfully or not) pisses them off....

  • Congratulations, America! You're killing yourself slowly! :D

  • Its called CORPORATE FASCISM, its the futrure of the globe, its happening now and the freedumb monkeys dont have a clue, they are juiced on fluoride, high fuctrose corn syrup, chemtrial, and sports on the idiot box, high def idiot box. Sing it baby, I love my highdef idiot box, I saw it on the idiot box, a mmumm getcha some idiot box.

  • My "freedumb" chase card let me buy my blood pressure medications (2) today at 22.22 percent, chant now usa usa usa usa usa usa usa usa usa.

  • MC and visa probably banned donations to wikileaks because of the content that they released about the american gov. then, MC and Visa websites crashed. Wonder who did it?... Maby Wikileaks supporters

  • medical rocks

  • We as customer are free to want to purchase whatever we want (within the law) but just as well a company is allowed to decide to do business (or rather not do business in this case) with who they want. As long as there are alternative payment methods available I don't see the problem with it.

  • Jon, can you do a episode on Marvel vs Capcom 3 and how they are selling incomplete games then later release a "complete" version later via Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and completely stop DLC support for Marvel vs. Capcom 3, they are wallet-raping people and more people needs to be informed, please if you have the time, thank you.

  • Online pornography? Like 2 girls 1 cup?

  • Well, there goes my medical marijuana internet porn celebration party in Vegas.

  • I guess I won't be getting an American Express credit card then.

  • Ahhhh...yes i agree with you my friend...i can understand the issue with the porn...but for the casino's it's more of the whole issue that goes back to the online gambling issue that was banned back in the GW Bush admin.

  • Credit cards? Fine, I can live with that as all this morality BS doesn't go too far. But my debit card? It's my damn money and I have the right to do what I damn well please with it.

  • I do with my money whatever I damn well please and no company like am ex or visa should be in the way. But on the other hand I do understand they want to stop childporn and that's also a good thing. What I just don't understand is why block medical weed. Those people who have a card are in pain and need it as painkiller and then some company is like: nope.... No dope..

  • Always bet on black.

  • Trying to restrict people from purchasing things only makes them fund new ways to purchase them, like with cash. It is longer to pay online with cash but the end result is still the same. If someone wants something they WILL buy it no matter what restrictions one mode of payment has.

  • 1) Who pays for kiddie porn with their credit card?

2)You don't sign a contract to have your beliefs or lifestyle limited by a CC, it would be illegal. Unless your belief or lifestyle involves an illegal action.

3)A casino which only accepts money you technically already have is a good idea. The CC lends you money on the condition you'll pay it and has no control over what it's spent on. Just whether you pay it back. In the words of Joe Pesci "Fuck You! Pay Me!"

    btw Legalize it!

  • Restricting Medical marijuana is wrong. Medical Marijuana is a powerful is a powerful painkiller and cure for diseases, fully legal in many countries and 16 states of the US, and your not allowed to buy it with an AMEX card, ITS FUCKING MEDICINE AMEX!!! OK you can just go to an atm the the pharmacy, but why inconvienience people who are already sick and need medicine?

Also interesting to note in the UK, you can legally buy diamorphine (medicinal heroin) with an AMEX card and a prescription....

  • I Want That Shirt! Really Bad.

I bet it gets a guy laid all the time =D

  • @andrewstrebhar either something is legal or illegal not in-between. Unless you live in Canada.

  • thats bull shit

  • I don't have an AmEx card but I've been told that if you buy in this order Tank of gas, tank of gas, pair of Nikes, your card gets frozen and you'll get a call from fraud services asking you if your card has been stolen. I guess that's the pattern of most thieves to test the card out.

Also, credit cards won't let you buy pot with it because to the federal government, it's still an illegal substance.

  • I'm surprised financial institutions are choosing morality over profit.

  • @carlyonv I thought I would never hear that sentence in my entire life.

  • The only way tom fight this is to not use their services. Technically they can pick and choose what they let you use your card for because of a contract. They will change that contract if people start using other cards.

  • Medical marijuana isn't technically legal.

  • @andrewstrubhar What do you mean by technically? If i had glaucoma and i wanted to but medical marijuana then they would let me in those 16 states

  • @KellenBryan All marijuana is banned under federal law. The state laws are technically not valid, but they do it anyways.

  • @andrewstrubhar What ever happened to the states governing themselves, thats in the Constitution. But you have all these Democrats running around saying the Constitution is no longer valid because its old. Federal takeover of the states is becoming a huge threat to the american people, and if you dont open your eyes and see whats happening around you this once great country is going to fall to communism, and fast. It's a shame people dont care about what happens these days. Suit yourselves.

  • @prosnyper9 Federal law supersedes state law. I have never heard democrats (or republicans) claim that the constitution is no longer valid. You have no idea what you're talking about.

  • @andrewstrubhar Fine, dont look around at the world your in, just let the lies lead your lives into destruction, I try to warn you all, but none of you ever listen. This is why i have no faith in humanity, your all ignorant as to what is really going on.

  • @prosnyper9 What the hell are you talking about? You're the one pulling facts out of your ass and misquoting the constitution.

  • @andrewstrubhar I havn't quoted anything, and you really are ignorant as to whats going on. Again just whatever you obviously dont give a fuck what happens and frankly i hope this whole world burns to punish you all.

  • Jon. Change your shirt. You've worn it for the past like dozen videos.

  • My Chase Visa sent me a letter today letting me know than starting in September I will be charged charged a transaction fee of $10 or %5 (whichever is greater) for every single transaction.

I hate credit cards and am going to get rid of my last one as soon as possible.

  • AmEx must suuuuuuuuuck

  • While some of these things are widely considered morally wrong, it's a greater sacrifice to restrict freedom than to permit sin.

  • 12 People don't like gambling

  • We need a new type of card free from their control.

  • you've been wearing the same shirt for like a month straight

  • @K2ACP he usually films multiple episodes in one night

  • i dont think they should unless there reason would stop someone from buying anything that would be illegal if it was for something legal they have no right to say what you can and cant buy

  • should they be allowed? HELL NO

do they have the right? yes, damn terms of service contracting shit

  • There's a perhaps unintended but added benefit to the credit card companies. If you draw cash from an ATM for a banned purchase, you'll have to pay the cash advance APR instead of the regular purchase APR. Cash advances have a higher APR, which means more expensive for you.

  • My debit card wont let me buy anything. Its because Im broke.

  • @Bobio1138 good job now when do they take your house

  • @thetweeterman2871 I havent had a steady job since I got out of High School. So I still live with my parents.

  • @Bobio1138 did you go to clollge send me a freind ivite

  • @Bobio1138 thank you zoidburg

  • This is fucking ridiculous, thats what I think about it!

  • No porn or weed? Suck my dick american express... fun-wreckers!

  • Credit card companies have the right to what you can and can't buy because it is the credit card company's money that the credit card holder is basically borrowing.

Debit cards on the other hand... I think people should be able to buy anything because it is their own bank money not the credit card company's money.

  • @azimali322 Very true...

  • @azimali322 they are still using the banks services.

  • @azimali322 agreed, Debit Cards are a different ballgame, it's your own money your using. I have one and I use it for various things, not anything illegal obviously, hell I am 21, but I use cash to buy alcohol. So in my case, the company that issues my Debit Card should not be able to tell me what I can and can't do with it. If I want to go to Vegas and drop 50 bucks on a few hands of blackjack then I should be able to

  • @azimali322 but if you pay them back, what's the problem?

  • I like how he said Ku Klux Klan and PETA in the same sentence, not very much difference between the two anyway.

  • The pornography, I understand Everything else, I dont.

  • I just realized that I watch the World According to Jon more than the Microwave show

  • well, when you think about it when people sign that TAC contract, they are supposed to have already known this and not be surprised when it happens. So technically what your saying is something people should already know. Also huge companies know what is best for themselves, they wont turn down opportunities to make cash lightly.

  • change your clothes! get a bath for christs sake!

  • im going to hell for pressing "Skip this ad"

  • Its a free country!

  • well it is a bit if an imposition but a company always retains the right to refuse service. Am Ex is merely exercising this right in selective blanket areas. sad but true.

  • Medical marijuana is a joke and everyone who uses it should be fined by the Feds since it is still federally illegal

  • @grw830 You need to do your research. Medical Marijuana helps quite a bit. There's even documented cases of it curing cancer.

  • @grw830 You know alcohol is worse for you than marijuana is, right? Like Zennethe said, there are cases where medical marijuana use has benefited people in drastic ways. And medically speaking, what harm is marijuana going to cause to a terminally ill patient?

  • @BraydonBond dont act like such a pothead

  • @junits15 Nice job implying he smokes weed when you have no absolute proof.

  • @treead1 how do you know? what if I knew him? Then you asinine commen would make you look like even more of a fool. Just because you so quickly rushed to his aid I now have reason to believe YOU smoke weed. Is there more to say? I don't think so, what I said wasn't serious, you're right I have no proof, but then again who gives a fuck? Jeez if I had proof I wouldn't confront this person in a youtube comment I would do whats called face-to-face talking, you might have heard of it.

  • @junits15 I was just making a smartass comment for the sake of making a smartass comment, and if you weren't so serious, why the serious, drawn out response? My intent was to provoke a response. Also, why are you acting like weed is inherently bad?

  • @treead1 you're being AWFULLY defensive

  • @junits15 I didn't mean it to sound that way, I was just trying to explain my comment.

  • @junits15 I've never actually smoked that stuff once in my life. Don't act like such a prick.

  • You need cash to pay your bill for your credit card uses so it sounds pretty stupid to ban stuff that people buy from credit cards and you know how much money you're gonna need to save and that your job won't pay for overspending on your credit card.

  • @LeKevin01 Exactly, you make a wonderful point.

  • Maybe we should be buying things with the money we actually posses and not via credits. Just saying thats all.

  • I never even knew they could do that Jon. Must look at this in more detail! :O

  • This is interesting. It's kind of a paradox that they support "free" market, yet they bann people from purchasing certain items... That goes to show you just how the "freedom is important" speech they give isn't exactly what they apply.

  • Why do the credit card companies care when these people are giving them money?

  • @LuigiFan1996 because it could ruin its reputation

  • Think of credit cards as a loan... You use their money, and pay them back at the end of the month, don't you think credit card companies have a right to say what you can and cannot spend their money on? Granted the card isnt reloadable, because if you load the card first, technically that is your money, even if it is Electric. Credit - It's okay, Charged Cards - Not okay, Just my opinion

  • Not sure if maybe I misheard, but...

2:16 Sounded like "mortal police", should be "moral police"

2:28 Sounded like "Klu Klux Klan", it's actually "Ku Klux Klan"

Nothing disrespectful on these corrections, Jon, just informing you of a few errors, help you out a bit.

And who BUYS porn anymore? :P

    Anyway, this is bullshit. =(

We should not be restricted on buying anything legal to buy.

  • I will donate to the mighty cause of the Motherland!!!

  • Yes they can, "credit card" is a service, like any other. They can provide (or not) a service to anything then want. It's like you won't get condoms in a christian shop, haha. "BUT I WANT ONE, IT'S MY RIGHT! But we don't provide them, we don't want to sell them... go somewhere else..."

  • Wikileaks is a criminal organization thats why they cut them off .

  • YES! they should control it. because I don't want paper money to dissappear

  • I don't think that we should be controlled in any way, to be allowed to do what we want, like in America (since this is way off from what America was originally supposed to be). Jail the ones who break the law, that should be made from moral points first and foremost, and let the rest of us go free to go about our own business, without any company or government standing in our way.

  • @OMIGHTYGUY but that could cause some forms of chaos because there would be no boundaries in which people would have to follow. if we are allowed to completely roam free as long as we just follow the laws that limit crime how could we make a form of currency to at least make a market at which we could buy or sell any sort of items.

  • @xlr704 I'm not saying I want to get rid of currency/market/business, I just want a lot of the limitations that the government or companies like those have placed on us to be gone.

  • I think credit cards since it's a type of loan might have the right to do this, but debit cards are taking your money directly from your bank account so how else are you going to make online purchases? Still I think if it's legal they have no right restricting you.

  • My opinion of how credit card companies restricting on what you can buy is that it is their money, not yours. When you use the card, you are taking a loan from the company. The same as banks, they won't loan you if they think its not worth the loan. So in my opinion, if these companies don't want you to purchase porn, donations to companies that they don't approve, or even to the use of gambling, its their money, they can do what they want with their money.

  • @MarkZZcom that makes no sense if you get a loan of money from someone it isnt their business what you do with the money as long as it is paid back with interest, why should they care where the money goes??? i could understand if the money was funding crime or terrorism ect... but if t isnt anything illegal think they shouldnt have any right to tell you what you can and cant do with the money

  • @ainsleywainsley But again, it isn't yours. You are borrowing it, and if they don't like the immediate use of the money, they have the right to deny the money. I do believe that if it is a legal product or service, they should lend you the money, but if I owned a card company, I probably would avoid lending money to people when they are buy items that are risky to me, such as pornography, many people dispute the charge on it and unfortunately, the card company is responsible for the purchase.

  • @MarkZZcom but once you agree to pay interest on the loan the money is yours, because you are paying an additional fee (interest) ontop of the loan of money, so because you are essentially paying them to lend you money dont you think it is going to far when they tell you what you can and cant do with the cash? its like paying for a taxi home but the driver decides you where you can and cant go.
