This stitch works into the rung between two stitches on the previous row. It can also be worked as a spiral - just google it.

@unique95 Glad you found it helpful. Its a really great little stitch. There's a picture in Samplers and Stitches 1920 by Mrs Christie where 3 deer are made using Trellis. If you can get hold of a copy, check out that sampler, its amazing.
