You know, I remember, at the time, all of the "old" and "hardcore" NASCAR fans hated this kind of racing. All they used to talk about was how in the good old days packs were smaller and drivers would wait till the last lap to slingshot each other. That sounds kind of like how it is now...
some good coverage of the race here. I think that how the races are broadcasted today turned some fans off. Announcers are also part of it too. Fox coverage have been bad in 2010 so far. I mean just look at how this racing is broadcasted and compare it to today's modern talladega race coverage. If this is how racing today was shown on Tv I'll be glued.
@funboy8 fox coverage has been bad since about 2007. i was so pissed when the 3 of them were talking over each other when trevor bayne won at daytona. dw and larry mac are no good. anyone remember when bobby unser was a color commentator in nascar??
I have no clue they had a corner flagman, reminds me of F1. But this kind of racing is incredible, the last time that this kind of racing occured was this year.
I saw the ending of the race and it had the TNT logo on the top left and not the NBC logo that's now showing on the top. Do you know what happened to NBC before the end of the race?
i'm just sick of all the wrecks at the finishes.. a great run for someone all day, gets thrashed in the final 400 yards. I'm so over that. No drivers get injured any more, it's going to take some fans getting killed to change it.. and it's almost happened twice this year.
The 2001 EA Sports 500 had always been one of my most memorable moments in NASCAR. Because the famous last-lap wreck and Dale Earnhardt Jr. continued the Earnhardt Legacy. It was also a great race that day. Looking forward the see the rest of them.
@MIBFreakPack I know man, I can totally understand you. In a literal duration of five years Sprint, and Nextel have completely altered the traditional atmosphere of the Professional Stock Car Auto Racing. May we thank God for the late 80's, the 90's, and the early 21st century in NASCAR. That's whenever NASCAR was it's very peak in my opinion. I'm a big Davey Allison, and Dale Earnhardt fan. They competed back whenever it actually required real physical talent instead of just raw horsepower.
I disagree, I think the CoT has produced some great racing at the superspeedways. The last 3 Talladega races have had over 50 lead changes. However I still loved the plate racing from this era, especially the sound of the cars getting up to speed.
I don't think the Superspeedway racing has been great ever since the COT was invented. Just because there were 50 lead changes doesn't mean it was good. Those 50 lead changes came from the same 5 drivers all race. Also the good drivers can never get more than 3 car lengths away from the field and it forces the drivers to stay 3x3 all race and it turns into a demo derby and no one moves around.
Not really. Superspeedway races used to be all about Dale Jr, Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon and some others. With the CoT, its wide open and anyone can run up front and steal a win like Keselowski did this year. Not only that, but last year's fall Talladega race had a record 28 different leaders, so it's not just the same guys running up front.
My point is they all sit there and don't move around at all. The thing I don't like about the new car to is they can just go from last to 1st in like 1/2 lap. That really takes a lot of skill lol.
@jrfan07 I'm with you. This Sunday is the Good Sam Club 500 and there might be not much of that stupid 2-car draft thing (they adjusted the plate). I can't wait!!!

You probably saw the TNT late night re-aired edition. TNT would cover up the NBC logo.
