ya wanna know how to adjust ya brakes? just revers fast for about 10 meters and hit the brakes hard,,,do this 3 or 4 times it re sets and readjusts the brakes,I do my old girl all the time usually after ever2000 miles,as for ther play in steering, undo the nut on the steering box tighten srew up but not to tight, this will get rid of the play for ya
I miss my old H.R. my dad brought it for me for $400 late 70's... someone ran into the back of it while parked out the front of house... was devestated... being female easy to drive column shift than four on the floor.... only thing... no aircon used to sweat it out.....
Nice vid, thanks for that. I've just picked up an HD wagon resto project, and it'll be done original. Has the same red and white interior as yours. Makes a change from my daily driver, a flash new modern 1971 HG!
I learnt to drive in a HR love that old girl, still have it. haven’t even started it in 10+ year tho. went the last time i left it there tho:) was thinking of restoring it. their such a nice car. best looking Holden made i think.
I own a HR Premier and I love driving around the streets...Old timers comment how they used to have one,,and all the foreigners don't know what the fuck it is 'cause it's not a TOYOTA!!!!!
Are their any other clips of this trip or other clips of the car that you can upload? Ive watched this like 50 times for some reason haha, its great cant wait till my HR is up and running!
Great old car , Brakes " Drums all round" bendix design from the 1936. This model HR has the ball joint front end, the previous model HD were King Pins changing at the model runout in early 66. This model is three on the tree, they also came with optional Power Guide 2 speed auto. Great posting
I wonder if this car has king pin front end (as I know early 1960s Holdens did) and Girling PowerStop brake assist, like my car ? My car sounds exactly the same ))) (not a Holden though)
It is so funny how the HR in the 80's had those sounds, smells and rattles. When I got in this car for the first timeI was laughing at the way the model had identicle features that had grown on the car as it aged.
Yeah, i'm restoring mine at the moment, but I won't be lubricating the door hinges or anything as I want them to have that old holden sound. And your also right about the smell. They do have a unique smell, people tell me I'm full of it but i swear all old holdens have the same distinct smell.
@ihaig72 first thing that came back to me when I got in this car was the smell then all the rattles that were in them in the 70,s. Just a bit more obvious as the cars get older

Is that Parriwi Rd near The Spit?
Thanks for posting the video. Outstanding to see and hear these rare cars in action. Would love to see more of it.

Is this a Premier, a Special or a Standard? I understand all three have column shift manual transmission.

Perhaps I should've said "nice driving car". I've always liked cars with steering column-mounted gear shifter. Any more videos you have of this car?

@Seattlecarnut yep we will put some more up in the near future.

@ihaig72 If you still have the car, I'd love to see more of it.

What a classic. Old stick shift, no power steering on that old classic eh. Lots of noises in these old cars.
