Idk If anyone said it already because I'm on my phone and don't want to read all the comments but that cut out is for fire fighters to use on a hydrant. Similar to a spanner wrench.
@IDudeIDaryl1 I'm glad your cousin is comming home soon! Yep, I hope my Bro stays safe too, He is a career man so I'm sure he is havin' fun...I guess. Have a great Christmas!
Never tried one of those axes. But like I said before I have 2 Ontario machetes. 1 smooth back and 1 saw back. To me they are my #1 survival and hand to hand combat tool/weapon
@GridDownSurvival Cool, yeah...I need to get one of the Ontario Machetes. I love the SPAX16, so I'm sure the Machetes are great as well. Take care, thanks for taking the time to watch and comment.
the spax looks like a great urban survival tool -- axe, pick, crow bar. It's used in urban rescue on cars, doors and buildings. I'm surprised it's not reviewed more often as a survival tool.
@HamBeau LOL....thanks Jay....It will be well used! It will come in handy during our present time and when the inevitable Zombie Apocalypse happens...whatever form that takes!
@imgaryk Yep...very well suited for that task! I need to do a new video on my "Zombie Weapons" I have such a diverse collection now from when I started! Thanks for commenting Gary. It is a truley special piece of equipment! Good for everyday tasks as well as "special" ones!
Nice ax! The size looks perfect and it looks like it is balanced well. I like the thick spine on it. Doesn't look like it will bend or flex at all. Looking forward to the demo videos of it
@ArmyStinger150 never even seen one before in person. It sure looks like an effective breaching tool (which would explain the O2 valve that a firefighter might use)
@MrJmfitch I can tell you it wasn't used for anything "Firefighting" related, although I'm sure that was it's intended use. But my Bro is in the business of breaching doors and the like, so I can say it has it's certain other uses! I will be doing a demo vid shortly!
@88Kamikaze69 I am planning a video demo of this ax, I will def try to at least similate a door my friend! Yeah...I think that it was probably used as an entry tool...My Bro is in the type of unit that would have need of a entry tool such as this. Thanks for the info & suggestion!
@LMarshall32 Yeah man....this ax is fit for Mr. Destructo for sure my friend! Wish I had another one, I would send it to you to try out and destroy stuff!
@ArmyStinger150 Bro., I respectfully disagree with you. That Ax has served with Our Troops and I am honestly not worthy of that AWESOME HONOR of owning it!!!
That Ax has prestige and respect that should be handed down to you kids!
One thing though. After looking at the vid again, it sure looks like it could use a Rusty's RAGS!!! =)
@LMarshall32 Thank you Mr. Destructo! LOL...you know now that you mention it, I actually used my Rusty's Rags on it yesterday! Worked great! Thanks, and much respect my friend.
@1crimm Yeah, this ax was a issue item...it is different for alot of units, all depends on what the leadership thinks their soldiers need. Not all will be issued this ax...or some of the other items of gear I show in my videos. I have three family members in the Army, all in different type units...so they all get issued different stuff...that happens to make into my hands!
@1ATRS Thanks a lot JC...He really is a great guy, best friend, & one Hell of a excellent soldier. I am hoping to be able to interview him before he leaves, his story needs to be told, he's a true asset to our Army! Thanks again man, I will let him know you all support him.
@1yankeecowboy Thank you Sir! Yeah...he he gives me pretty cool stuff on a regular basis, I have 5 more episodes in this series with great gear he has gifted me, so keep an eye out for them. Thanks for taking the time to watch & comment on my videos.
@gordonandsandy Really? Most people like it...It used to be quite a bit longer, I have shortened it alot since I started using that intro about 5-6 months ago. Sorry it is frustrating for you, I can't please everyone.
That is a cool axe your brother-in-law gave ya there. Check it out...if I'm not mistaken, the hole in the center fits fire hydrant covers and the valve nut on top; I think it also fits the shut off valve on a gas meter. Thanks for sharing. Take Care my friend :-))
@SurviveN2 Hey thanks Dragon for the info...I had no idea what the damn hole was for...I was just makin' a sort of guess based on what other similar tools have incorporated on them. So thank you for lettin' me know. It is a pretty cool ax, I will be doing a practical demo & a cut test vid of it in use soon. Take care my friend.
@ebomey I think perhaps that is one of it's uses! I Didn't want to say that in the video. It is a very cool ax...I will be taking it with me on my next outing to try it out...not to kill, but as a chopper! LOL
I thought the hole in the middle was for fire hydrants

I believe this tool is meant for fire fighters as an entry tool, the hole in the middle is meant for working fire hydrants.
Did want one of these since the first time I saw it but it's so damn expensive and really to heavy for my pack arrangement.
Mind checking if that spike will go through a door? Always did wonder about that.
