  • Erm , I've a question here (;

    How do we get a nice tone ? What do we do to pract if we're too flat on a clarinet tone ?

  • Hello

    uhh i have a question haha

    i was wondering how to get rid of like airyness of clarinet. is it through playing longtones?

    and another question is whether or not the reed does effect the clarinet a lot. =] i would appreciate all the help i could get

  • @ksamuraibear Most breathiness in the tone is caused by defective mouthpieces or defective (unbalanced) reeds. Too much lower lip over the teeth can also contribute to dullness and breathiness. It's not a simple problem--most problems on the clarinet have a combination of contributing factors.

  • Perhaps I have been lucky or maybe fortunate, as my instructor points out from time to time that I have been producing a "good clarinet sound." I was never certain about what he meant. I would thank him not realizing how or what it was that made this session good, or better than other sessions.

    Knowledge of fundamentals changes everything! In retrospect of this tone explanation, I am certain this is what he was saying.

    Thanks for the videos. Please do more, as I am anxious to know more!

  • Agreed, Bravo.

    why havent i discovered your videos before?

  • Bravo

  • That's how you sound when you spend most of your life playing saxophone.

  • Be sure to check out the thread about this video on the Clarinet board. Many interesting points made out there.

  • LOL Tom Mr. Bilk is the best example for a student how one should not sound like.
