No, sorry, the 3967 was scrapped out many years ago. That's actually the 3985 made over as the 3967 for this particular event, a reenactment of the RMRC's first excursion which was powered by the real 3967.
Last I heard it was in for a major overhaul. Last time I saw it was on the doubleheader in 2005 when they had to take it off the train due to hot bearings. I should check on that.
My (just turned) 8 year old and I loved the video. Thanks so much! He just received a 3967 AHM Challenger (HO) for his b'day and we needed to experience the real thing! You done
The last place where the train was filmed at was the place where the challengers, big boys & northerns all would fill up with water on the climb over sherman hill. The water tank still survives but the water spout & coal tower are now gone.
You totally missed the point. Its about the harmonica. I just put those choo-choo train movies in there to provide visual interest and fill the void (;-)).
Wonderful..... from the Netherlands

Fantastic video. There's nothing like a steam locomotive going flat out.

This is a great video. I had no idea UP did this. I've seen pictures of Challengers with elephant ears but never seen one in operation till now.
I wonder if they used 844's "ears" of if they had some in the shop in Cheyenne fit for a Challenger.
Thanks for posting!

It can't be the 844's ears because they have a different shape
