my buddy's both have vw's. one of them has an 25th anniversary GTI and the other a vr6 passat. in a straight pull the vr6 is faster, but like the gti will murder the passat in cornering and over all handling.,

and you're correct, the 2.0t is faster, i just read this long review on motortrend, they've announced that the 2.0t is all around better.

that depends on what VR6 engine you're comparing it to. it might be faster than a 2.8L VR6, but the 3.2L VR6 in an R32 is faster than a 2.0T and there's also a 3.6L VR6 that is even faster.

this guy in this video is a fag, i have the 2009 GLI and i just trade my 2005 GLI in for it. VW does say it goes 0-60 in about 6.9 sec but i have the car and it does it in about 6, also how dare him compare it to the civic SI that shit sucks, and it is slow as fuck. I have test driven the SI twice and it does not compare in any way. And the SI has that shity Ricy sound, plus the shift nob is very small, The Si sucks balls.

I own a 2.5 jetta and test drove the Fahrenheit GLI, I wasn't impressed at all. Nearly 10k more for red stitching, leather and not much more horsepower. IMO if you like the Fahrenheit or the GLI get a 2.5 and add GLI kit and grilles to it and some bolt ons and deposit the 7 or 8k you'll be saving.

Own a 05 GLI, 1.8T 6 Speed. Never cared for the 06 and up body style. Headlights look more like an Accura than the classic vw "boxed" lights. I hate those rims, got a set of 18'' SSR GT3's on mine. They don't give enough credit for handling, as GLI will out handle any comparable car. And yeah, an awd version would be nice, would give the Lancer EVO some competition...

I have 07 silver GLI with 18" wheels diablo style rims, I bought it a year ago and I am happy with it, though I wish they make a all-wheel drive version to accelerate harder cause you lose so much power at front wheels, I love the engine it has very good torque, I have topped the car at 145 mph. I might trade it for a new one sooner than my warranty runs out if they come up new styling and more power with optional all wheel drive
