If you have seen all his vids for turn 1 they are all equally flawed. He has the US buying a bomber, and tech rolls for HBs. This is not good. It takes several turns for the US to put together a pipeline for groung troops into the Europe front, and you need to start building twards it turn 1. Also if you game plan for it its easy to get a US complex in Norway by turn 3 or 4. Bombers and Tech rolls??? this guy is gonna get rocked
There are multiple strategies as USA. You can DEMOLISH with pure super bombers. They are ridiculously strong. You just need a UK with an IC in India pushing against Japan, and a dedicated Russia (AKA, infantry/Artillery wall).
This guy is not going to win many games like this. I have played this board out a ton of times, and tech rolls are far to risky. He has you rolling 2 die with Japan, and 5 with Germany for 2 different techs. Do the math on how often 2 or 3 die will get you your tech... not very often and the axis can not afford to waste $35 combined on turn 1. The most solid strat for the axis is ground troops for Germany and 2 complexes for Japan. though there are many options for a German navy purchas.
why would you ever leave Ukraine alone? With this strategy Germany will crush you in 3 or 4 turns at the most.
If I were Germany I would have my Med. Battleship and transport make an amphibious assault on Caucasus with 1 inf and 1 tank. Then tanks from E. Europe and Balkans roll in, 3 inf from Ukr plus tank. art. then bring over two fighters. So 4 tanks, 4 inf, 1 art, 2 fighters, and an offshore bombardment would roll over your Caucasus 4 inf. Sure, you'd retake it, but russia wouldn't last
Russia honestly needs to purchase artillery more so than infantry in the beginning. While there is an abundance of infantry for Russia to start, there are a very limited few artillery units for Russia. Also, leaving those two northern regions open seems like a poor decision to me with option of Germany blitzkrieging through them.
You should of kept one infantry in Karelia to prevent a blitz. You also risk losing Caucasus with only 4 infantry. So you could lose up to 10 IPC points by the end of the first turn, if Japan moved north from manchuria.
Well if anyone one lives in the salt lake area, and plays this, or knows of a place where they play this, send me a message, i want to try this game vs actual people, not just vs myself or the AI for the pc games.
can anyone please tell me WHY THE FUCK nobody wants to play axis and allies EVER? i try to introduce this game to people and they think it sucks, and they'd rather play "monopoly" or "scrabble" or something juvenile like that. nobody will play the game with me, what can i do?
I buy all inf for russia sounds stupid maybe but im playing mind warfare. If they see what 12 inf on caucasus they usally get scared and go for a diff territoy and if your playing with special country abilitys and you get russian winter your pretty much ok haha.
@badass447 it is for this purpose I build ftr round 2, I like building 3 tanks in round so that I can hit karelia in force in round 2, that way it will be suicde for germany to hit it.
@mrKreuzfeld 3 and 3 first round is a good buy either buy is good depending on how you like to play russia. I play a very defensive russia vs germany and aggressive russia vs germany. Those two extra tanks do help a lot when fighting on both fronts. I think tanks are underused when it comes to their two movement. For anyone reading this post try and put your infantry in front of your tanks so your tanks can attack two fronts with their two movement.
@Requiredghr18 it is really really bad. the best move imo with uk is to build carrier and some land units(depending alittle bit on gers fleetmove/build), and hit noth africa, + use the india fleet + uk bomber to retake egypt round 1. this way you can keep all of africa and uk production close to 30 most of the game. and you will never use that factory in SA, bc untis built in india will be closer to the actions.
places for possible UK IC; egypt (in some games), norway, west russia.
@Requiredghr18 india will fall ind 2 or 3 no matter what (still not giving it away for turn 1) if you go for the kill germany first stratigy, which is a well tested one and always winning. I win 95%+ of my solo games when using this stratigy and when germany starts with 1 extra tank and 1 extrainf in libya. the benefit is that you never loose africa, which is about 5-7 IPC/ turn for aboue 3-7 turns.
every time I have seen anyone tryin to hold india they have failed, and lost the game
@Requiredghr18 every time I have seen the allies keep india for longer than that, they have lost the game, because to keep it longer, you need to build a factory there, and send in maybe 2-5 russian units. the japanese can outprouced you by building a factory and a transport the first turn, then he willl be able to land 7 units each turn, while you only have 3 extra units each turn. and when he finally takes india, he has a more or less free factory. I celebrate the win every time I see the IC
@Requiredghr18 one of the main reasons it is a win is that germany get a free reign, germany will take africa and be able to put alot more preasure on russia than normal, I recently had a game where it was actually germany that ended up taking the factory in india, the reason he could do that was all the extra resources the allied had thrown at japan, and without those germany can easily take africa and caucasus.
I just bought this game and I'm so psyched about playing it. It combines my two favorite things: war strategy and WWII. I finished the instruction manual and it sounds so fun. It also seems a little confusing but I'm going to learn this game inside and out so I will have a blast.
just rienforce the borders on the eastern front because germany is so close already to moscow then go to brutylia s.s.r. and reinforce that with the infantry from the one above it
first turn. dont attack, buy infantry, reinforce heavly on german side, declare russian winter. bam. next turn, germany is in trouble. even if it attacks and takes a territory
@Flyinghotpocket you only get russian winter if your playing with national advanteges plus idk if this is just my house rules but you have to roll for the advanteges and its almost a must to attack west russia you want to delay germ as much as possible untill UK and US can help you out and stale mates with germ and russia are not fun...
lol this guy left Caucasus wide open, the German med fleet can load a tank, infantry and land in Caucasus + everything in Ukraine attacks = 4inf 2tanks 1artillery 1fighter + any other fighter Germany throws in there and a BB hit Vs 4Russian Infantry, the AA is likely to miss. Gemany makes off with 4IPCs and a delay in Russian development in Caucasus.
Exactly! Russia cant afford to loose that IC because of the delay in reinforcing. Especially if the German player pushes in as much reinforcements as possible within reach of Caucasus for the second turn, the Russian can not recapture it more than once without a lot of luck... Besides, he gave up the whole north, didn't buy any offensive troops for the needed recapture and forgot to land his planes where they could actually defend...
Agreed. As Germany I'd love to be trading causus from rd1 on. :D
Better to land your fighters on causus, move two from kazahk to causus, heck I'd even leave 2 inf that started there + the 4 you place leaves you 8 inf, 2 fighters on your front line production center at the end of your first turn.
Stack buryatiya with 6 inf on the first turn, they threaten manch, and japan won't attack it.
@MedicinalBullets Germany should not attack Caucasus they should attack a really weak West Russia with all available air (no anti aircraft gun there either!). Russia then loses all offensive land units, and will die really soon. If Caucasus is attacked, russia can retaliate with 12 infantry and all its starting tanks etc.
the build infantry strat for russia assumes russia never lets itself lose a tank.
sending the russian infantry to persia is a bad idea they could be used more effectively in defending russia also the karellia attack isnt a wise move i would leave one infantry there and use the rest to attack west russia(strength in numbers)
i agree that leaving karelia open is a bad idea as it contains leningrad and an easy route to russia. when i play is russia i try too take the germans on step by step and not rush into it. But i think you did the right thing in buryatia as the japenese could use their fleet and fighters to smash you there
hey im a noob at this. in fact iv never even played this so can u plz explain 2 me y this is such a bad strategy? i really want 2 learn this sort of stuff.
The attack into German occupied West Russia is a good idea for a opening move as it gives you much needed breathing room from any attack into Russia itself. However at the end of his turn he is leaving open both Karelia and Archangel for an easy blitz by German tanks since both terretories were left unguarded. Another mistake was that he moved all of his infantry out of the east leaving it open for Japn to pick it apart. He should have garrisoned 6 Inf. units in Buryatia to oppose Japan.
I agree with mick. gerany could just blitz their tanks all the way to archangel. And dude, one infantry aint gonna cut it in Belorussia. The Caucusus and Buryatia are also screwed.
Agreed. Enjoy automatically losing Karelia. You focus too heavily on your south. You need to spend ALL of your non-combat moving northwards, since you can build reinforcements in the south.
If you tired this on me, you would see german naval units in the Black Sea. German troops from Italy and Ukraine would easily take out your factory! So much for your pipeline to Asia.
I'm trying to get a game started, but my stupid cousin lost his soviet Union Reference card. If any body can help me out in any way (email me a picture of it or tell me where I can download it off the internet) in the next few days, I would highly appreciate it.
It's one way of playing the game. As a very aggressive Axis player I would attack Cacusus with my resources in Ukraine. Still it's a decent strategy, you can't always cover all your gaps in the game and will often have to leave a few open no matter what strategy you prefer.
ok leaving eastern russia open for japans simple and easy takeover is realllyyyyy stupid. and i wouldnt attack germany with all ym forces cuz guess what, on germanys turn they get 40 ipc's and if the german player is smart he will invest all his money into tanks, then have a EASY takeover in russia, with the help of japan since YOU left eastern russia COMPLETELY open. dumbie lol
man are you crazy russia germany made russia their bitch not ony would i chose germany i would make russia my least priority its like compareing peyton manning to eli manning its like compareing ladanion tomlinson to tashard choice the germans had the most power, money, recourses, troops i comepletely agree with MWfrontier
i look like adolf hitler richard nixon john f kennedy jr and i caused the two towers to fall in new york new york and i have become lee harvey oswald saddam hussein beavis and charlie sheen all because i have seen the ends of the universe
i have this game s othose of you who say leaving open land for japan is bad it isnt there is a advantage if japan attacks ussr first ussr gets life 5 men and 2 tanks or somethieng
Can't you build an unlimited number of units on spaces that have original Industrial Complexes? Why are you only limited to 4 men on Caucus or whereever?
I dissagree with some of Russias opening moves. I personally just attack the West Russia. Then with the two fighters is use to attack the baltic fleet. The submarines can't hit the fighters. So you can get rid of at least the Transport and the Destoryer, which is usefull to keep the Germans out of the Ocean battle. Then I usually move the units in Evenkia and Novborisk to Russia, and the units in Khazak to Caucus. Then I move the units in Yakut and Farest into Burytai for a strong deffense.
bad first move you gave away caucus! I have played this new version 34 times now and the allies have only lost once. America being so powerful makes it almost unfair if you can use it wisely.
yea it is because the allies just tag team germany and germany can't do anything about it. In th end germany falls before russia falls, and even when russia falls the game is still a sure win for the allies because there is two allies vs one axis.
I agree just focus the attack to west russia. You don't want to make a direct route to moscow. and I will place some of my trops in the eastern side against japan. And during the noncombat stage support the USA troup in the chinese area.
I would still prefer only to attack West Russia in Russias first turn. i Think The attack in belorussia is a little waste of units in the first turn...
Yet still a good idea to rush for india with some of the units in Caucasus :)
I disagree. No power built in other countries the way this game allows. A&A simplifies Axis Minor Nations by using German units as Finns, Hungarians, etc. Germany did conscript various Balkan troops and put them in France but not enough to represent a "FACTORY". Muslim SS Panzer divisions??????? I assume you mean the North African German Units. That's Africa Korps (Germans and Italians).
You should try "Advanced Third Reich". Far more realistic and historically accurate. It covers only the ETO, but damn is it fun. I've played Axis and Allies like 250 times so I know. Got bored of Axis and Allies. I do like the new map and territories in Russia though.
Russia would never send troops to the middle east to help UK. They would send everything they got west, being historically accurate. That's what I dislike about A&A. Also new Industrial complexes shouldn't be allowed to be built as it too is unrealistic.
Actually recruiting in occupied territories and allies emerging is very historic. What is the finnish military symbol of ww2?? Who gave germany the 2 muslim SS panzer divisions?
You could/should rather say that not being able to build in occupied territories is unhistorical.

what I recomend with russia first turn is 3 tanks + 3 inf, and take both w russia, and use 2 ftrs, 2 tanks and the cauc infs, to take ukriane.
this is multi purpose, purpose 1, make it suicide for germany to stack in karelia, 2 take out the german ftr in ukraine.
i like to build 1 ftr and rest inf in round 2, and after that 1-2 tanks and rest inf for the rest of the game, or until I have about 15 tanks

The attack into German occupied West Russia is a good idea for a opening move as it gives you much needed breathing room from any attack into Russia itself. mick15203 2 years ago
Don't listen to mick.
Leaving Karelia unguarded is fine. If Germany blitzes to Archangel, Germany loses that tank next turn, so it's a wash.
Abandoning Bury is fine in some cases, especially if you do not want to risk the Japanese transport not being taken out.
One objection I do have is the 8 inf buy is too passive. I prefer 3 inf and 3 armor for a bigger threat. 8 inf is not terrible though.

your strategy is both futile and insane,
German forces will surely falter as they proceed in Russia, complimented by overexhausting it's resources on a African and atlantic front! HA!

gr8debater7 2 years ago
avenuepad its cuz the caucauses is only worth 4 ipcs witch means u have a max of 4 unite capable of being built there
lolwashere 2 years ago
Can't you build an unlimited number of units on spaces that have original Industrial Complexes? Why are you only limited to 4 men on Caucus or whereever?
avenuePad 2 years ago
You can't leave leningrad undefended like that! There were German troops right next to it!
mgries7 2 years ago
you leave many territories undefended, free money for the axis, not a good idea to flee away from japan....

Allies have to be butt-buddies to win. Axis gotta sandwich russia

agreed.

IchBinDieKaiser 2 years ago
bad first move you gave away caucus! I have played this new version 34 times now and the allies have only lost once. America being so powerful makes it almost unfair if you can use it wisely.
badass447 2 years ago
Japan plays before the states,in one move they can get rid of all the amercan presence in Asia.Once its done...the game is not that unfair.
Zimzoum77 2 years ago 2
yea it is because the allies just tag team germany and germany can't do anything about it. In th end germany falls before russia falls, and even when russia falls the game is still a sure win for the allies because there is two allies vs one axis.

i have magical powers that frighten the u.s. president

I agree just focus the attack to west russia. You don't want to make a direct route to moscow. and I will place some of my trops in the eastern side against japan. And during the noncombat stage support the USA troup in the chinese area.
kageorochimaru 3 years ago
ok this strategy is a little off cuz u have a big hole that goes direct to moscow and you lose leningrad....
goba12 3 years ago

Its a board game get over it.

You obviously see the logic in my statement.
Diabolik771 3 years ago
You should try "Advanced Third Reich". Far more realistic and historically accurate. It covers only the ETO, but damn is it fun. I've played Axis and Allies like 250 times so I know. Got bored of Axis and Allies. I do like the new map and territories in Russia though.
Diabolik771 3 years ago
Russia would never send troops to the middle east to help UK. They would send everything they got west, being historically accurate. That's what I dislike about A&A. Also new Industrial complexes shouldn't be allowed to be built as it too is unrealistic.
Diabolik771 3 years ago
Actually recruiting in occupied territories and allies emerging is very historic. What is the finnish military symbol of ww2?? Who gave germany the 2 muslim SS panzer divisions?
You could/should rather say that not being able to build in occupied territories is unhistorical.
