I am speechless! ... Zappa ... wonderful internet and You Tube renditions of recordings that otherwise could have missed. A wonderful way to share the mysteries of sound....an amazing experience. Just think, most people go thru life without truly realizing the range of the senses. The human range for enjoyment of sensory input is directly proportional to the ability of the mind to accept, analyze and accommodate the perceptions.
@iristacrat Your are, right she sounds good, in her case at least you got a good ear! ! Her name is Anna STEIGER though. Also having problems with your eyesight? Too bad you have to give these comments to get noticed :)
There is something beneath the surface of this dissonance that is chronologically ingenious. It sounds virtually cinematic, and the passages from 3:44 on to the singing again were wonderful.
Wagner on LSD sounds about right. My cultural experiences are inhibiting me from seeing anything truly beautiful about this piece, but it's ugliness is an artistic statement.
adiabatic - occurring without gain or loss of heat (opposed to diabatic): an adiabatic process.
So not only does Varese's music sound great, it is scientifically revolutionary as well as musically revolutionary. In fact this means that his conception of sound was even more complex than we had previously thought! This revelation means his interest in the science of sound was not a nominal engagement without any concrete relations to his music - his music contained his very conceptions!
Jesus christ, get a life! You're seeking out all these videos and commenting on what shit it is... Are you on a crusade? You must have left your mark on half of youtubes avantgarde videos
The artist should not be held responsible if people's stupidity prevents them from folowing the process of perpetual transformation of these elements and principles, nor if their laziness and desire for mental ease makes them wish to stop this pitiless movement and to substitute for these elements and principles stereotyped formulas.
Is this music hated because we belong to the next generation? Bach's sons generation abhored of stuffy old Bach's music... Some of this sounds old-fashioned, edgy like old, rusty metal structures. But what came after these artists, Varese, Xenakis, Stockhausen, is minimalism...Glass, Reich... pretty bland stuff. I think I stick to these guys.
like many i became aware of Varese through Frank Zappa. the first piece i heard was Arcana and i fell in love with it instantly. i have the Complete Works of Varese 2-CD set and have played the hell out of it but this is the first time i've ever seen a performance of his music so this is exciting for me!! i think it's brilliant! just the job!
Another great post! For long time Zappaphiles, getting the chance to see these Varese performances is both a revelation and great therapy. I was at the Zappa/Varese show at Lincoln Center, but seeing these performances helps make his influence on Frank that much more clear, and my appreciation for Varese's music more informed. Thanks!
Best classical I have seen here, picture, camera, performance. It is a site to see the works of Varese, it isn't boring like some other composers, one sees the brilliant orchestration. Their is lots of French composer sounds in it Satie, Milhaud if one hears carefully.
Yeah, sure. If you knew ANYTHING about music, you should know that mathematics and Varèse are the absolute opposites. Varèse was 100% intuitive about composing. So stop claiming that you ever saw a music school from the inside... "published by Leduc" for sure...
Absolutely right! Varese hated any analysis of his music, he just wanted openmindedness from his listeners. That's clear from reading the fascinating memoir about him by his wife. But maybe Offrandes is a difficult work to approach for newcomers to Varese's music, especially if they don't understand the words. Great performance here, though.

You're right, Laurion. Britney Spears have a real public! Go and listen to "musicians" they have sold many... then let's talk abot in 2100, 2200...

No wonder adiabatic music never had a real pubblic and never will have.

What I find to further the irony is that one of the videos in laurion's favourites list is "Interview with Arnold Schoenberg".
