I really hope to see Boonen and Cancellara dueling for the classics again this year. Doesnt matter who wins for me, those 2 riders arent afraid to ride for the victory. Most dont ride at all to ensure their 7th place.
@DestroyTheseWalls you must be fun at parties. Get a grip boy. When I'm dead I'll be fine with people using normal language re me and my passing. Death is no big deal, this is something we all must come to terms with, hopefully before we go, but definitely after. This cheerless and altogether overly grave attitude you expect is really rather contrived. Preach on you supercilious prat, I'm done.
@DestroyTheseWalls I just saw your age. I'm sorry, it all makes sense now. Sorry for calling you a prat, but supercilious definitely. One day you'll understand I'm sure, but for now, feel free to carry on knowing everything and telling others how to speak.
@JeDaaRe1 I'm not so sure. I saw an interview with a cyclist who rode in The Tour and he admitted that he fears for his life on descents. I think that fear is a component in all of us that prevents us from doing things in a reckless and foolish manner--it's something, however, that has to be mastered and controlled.
I love riding my bike soooooooooo much. It really is the most enjoyable thing I have found in life. I've been doing it since I was 4 years old. My Dad took me to the top of a big hill in the park, threw me down it until I could ride. When I got my balance, I didn't stop. Ever since then it has given me the greatest feeling of escape. Everything dissapears & nothing matters. Without access to a bicycle I would be ruined. Best fucking thing since the wheel........
If one realizes the POTENTIAL a bicycle has... You'll love your bike like you have never before... Some look at it as that "thing" in their garage... Some look at it as their BEST asset... Like these guys... I consider mine one of my favourite assets, too... I love biking.
I live in Flanders (northside of Belgium). The landscape is so damn flat... But I'm addicted to riding in the Belgian Ardennes and the French cols... It's soooo damn satifying to suffer from doing a hard and seamingly endless climb and then descend at +60 km/h... ADRENALINE AND ENDORFINE!!!! I take a deep bow to all pro-riders such as Cancellara who make descending look like a walk in the park ;) If you ever do major descends, be carefull. xx rest in peace Wouter Weylandt... xx
That looks awesome but I find it ridiculous that has to weave through traffic, what a scandal! And what about all the exhaust he is forced so suck in too?? geez I would bug out.
and how much time did he win in this descen? He was obviously faster than the others because he catched up to the others, but how much seconds was he faster than the others?
@shmana He punctured near the top of the climb, and when his team mates dropped back he waved them on - obviously saying "I'll catch you up later". The 11'13" is how far the yellow jersey was to a small escape group ahead of the main peloton.
Spartacus is probably the best bike handler in the pro peloton at speed.

Do you faggots understand how silly and stupid bicycle racing is? Faggy little tights and a gay little helmet? Eurotrash homosexuals, the whole lot of you.
@ffiaux Don't know why Schleck would hit the dislike after all they are like best friends. Seeing as they have been one what three different teams together? Go Fabian though of course :) But tbh Contador isnt and never has been threatened by Fabian and nor was lance ever worried about him. He is a TT rider and he won't win the tour unless he becomes a climber. With that said that doesn't make him NOT a special rider. After all... I typed his name in on google to watch badass videos of the dude:)
@Bouchaneusmc I just started that joke because Andy Schleck, Lance Armstrong and Alberto Contador were the 3 yellow jersey contenders in 2009. I wasn't really talking about being jealous on Fabian's bike handling skills. Ok?
@ffiaux Tony Martin, Bradley Wiggins, David Millar, David Zabriskie, Gustav Erik Larson, Cadel Evans and Thor Hushovd. those are the one's who hit dislike.
Wow, some commitment through the turns. The motorbike even has trouble keeping as much speed through them and it looks as tho he almost puts it into the wall!
He was in the yellow jersey and had colour co-ordinated his bike to match. He'd had a puncture, and was not happy that the replacement tyre was not colour co-ordinated with the bike. He stopped to change it. The video has been up before, but was deleted due to infringing some UCI licence - surprised/delighted to find it again actually!
not sure the timing in the top left is quite right - i suspect that's the gap between the peloton and the breakaway. from memory, and judging by how many cars he passes i reckon he starts at least a good minute down on the peloton. i think the timing gap is done off a motorbike which probably got stuck in front of the peloton on the descent and didn't realise he'd punctured and dropped off the back.
7:30 to gain a whole 5 seconds back. . . . . he was 11:18 behind at the start of the video and 11:13 behind at the end. Nice to see a solo descent, but he was only keeping up with the pack in front.
@calcons At first, he's over 5" behind the last team car. The time gap at top left is generally from the breakaway back to the main peloton, not someone off the back. The yellow jersey symbol was based on he assumption that he was still with the main pack. He likely pulled back a minute on a peloton that was reeling in the breakaway (see Astana pulling at 3:20).
@cfgauss71 He was holding the yellow jersey, isn't that enough? Being the last and more than 10 minutes behind isn't a good thing at all and the cyclist can get disqualified depending on how much he makes for a last place.

I noticed at about 5:23 he starts to wobble his legs, i've seen a fair few pro blokes do this on tv, Why do they do it? is it to offset lactic acid or something?
@rlewie18 yes sure, i remember watching this live, it was a hard pursuit, he was in the back, the last, and had to chase the peloton. I remember he also uncliped his feet and stretched the muscles which is not on this video. He also reaches for some kind of food with the team car and also in his pocket. I think this is not a full video of the pursuit. He had some problems that day.
@willthegiraffe More like 70 and up ... . One wonders how they practice for something like this. It was probably mentioned some posts before, but can anyone put a date on this?
Now whenever I'm descending mountains I think of this video. Good to learn how to descend and corner on medium-high speeds (not like him of course lol).
You can almost hear him: "Get out of the way. No brakes!"
I bet he called for new shorts at about 50 seconds when the bend tightened up with a long drop to the left. Superb control with not a waver. Over 44 mph. I come down a steep hill near me at 40mph and I couldn't steer like that.
Many more popular sports in the world...BUT These ARE the Greatest Athletes in the World...Dope or not...take a look at football, baseball, and all the others ...I Rest My Case....Not one of them could survive 1 day of this Tour...
@MusicalManchild77 I agree with you that they're the greatest athletes in the world, but that's not a very good argument. Fabian wouldn't do very well in a boxing ring. That doesn't make boxers the best athletes in the world.
Not the greatest climber but this is Poetry Kids...Nobody leans a bike quite like Fab....Downhill and Trials are all part of it too. The Roman Killer....You cud not have picked better music...Epic!

2010 Tour - He catches the peloton in an epic way. What a great cyclist!
