This is the perfect example of why, in general, it's a bad idea to have a large ship with a small hitbox and small bullets. The scale and collisions just look totally wrong.
No, it's a good example of why it is a bad idea to code patterns with a set and rigid angle unless you know what you're doing. Also a bad idea to create not cycle trough patterns, not make bosses timeout etc etc. Also an example of how not to code bullect trajectories, see how the different clusters form a square instead of a circle because the guy did not know how to code the X and Y axis properly, etc. This should be "what NOT to do 101" for shmup devs or something.

Also, judging from the video, it doesn't look too difficult to find a safe spot in the patterns. At least he could have tried to inverse the rotation of the enemies or SOMETHING.
Also, I've been learning C++ to become a shmup developer, and I've got some good pattern ideas from looking at the visualization screen on media players like Winamp or Windows Media Player. If anyone is developing shmups, take a look at those visualizations, they are really cool and it would be awesome to create patterns inspired in those designs.
