  • yes watts pretend to be a cat and that's true because when you beleive you have no self you beleive you are what you see, so if you have this kind of illness please don't look a dog shit in the street ...

  • why did this guy is alert to not be alert ??

  • alan watts has a weak body and what he is taking about is just full of shit, the superman has a strong mind and a strong body, he doesn't wast his time with spiritual things !

  • so nobody is here but my girlfriend can fell my hard dick in her ass !

  • so there is no self.. theres just the happening.

  • Bruce lee was a beast and he originated his own fighting. Style.changed martial arts for the world, and allam watts highly influenced him. Allan watts is an intelligent man.so fuk off! lol

  • @TheBboyAlchemist bruce lee a beast ? loool ! a breakfast for UFC fighters !

  • it gets too damn deep sometimes..we are billion celled organisms living on planet earth like all the other creatures you see around you just live life ffs

  • another inspiring point made by alan watts, shame most of the comments made here are two people arguing though. I would try and argue with myself but.......

  • I am typing this comment. I am really typing this comment. An authentic moment.

  • 3 people aren't REALLY picking up that piece of paper!

  • 3:26 Alan Watts pretends to be a cat hahahaha.

  • I don't understand what it is I shouldn't be forcing.

  • This guy is so cool. He constantly amazes me. His depth is awesome and yet it sounds like the painfully obvious when you hear it.

  • @banzaiiish you said " I think you and Watts are crasy, he said be aware constantly of what you are doing...well this is the best way to become crasy. " He is quoting Gurdjieff who said to do that if you want to see how difficult it is to live that way.

  • @banzaiiish You want to argue. I don'.t I'm pointing at the obvious, and you won't look.

There is no Self. You can't even find it, and you think "Well I know it's there SOMEWHERE."

NO. It's Nowhere. Look. Life lives itself.

  • @HylianSpirit there is no self ? you are insane !

  • @SuperOwni There is nothing that can be called 'Self', without rejecting everything that isn't this 'Self'.

When you were born, there wasn't anything for life to be given to. That body just popped in to Being. So it can't be 'Your' life, if it wasn't given to anything in the first place.

Life doesn't happen to 'You'. Life happens, yes. But there is no center to life.

The insanity is believing your being to end where your skins does.

Look for 5 minutes, and you'll see it too.

  • @HylianSpirit stop hypnotise your self !

  • @SuperOwni You did this already. We got nowhere.

You're just bored and want to argue. That and you aren't fluent in english, and I can't elaborate many details.

  • @HylianSpirit that's right when i am bored i come here, i mean i come nowhere to speak about nothing with nobody.

  • @HylianSpirit you are the body and the mind but you are nihilist so you don't accept it.You just hide your self with your modern god : the life-lives-itself.

  • @HylianSpirit you are not ready for the Superman, you hypnotized your mind with bullshit and now you can't understand the self illusion is for real and the question there is self or not is just bullshit like Watts is talking about is just bullshit too from boring mind. So when you will die, you will go to hell or you will come back as a shit dog or you will suck dicks in hell ! yeah...

  • @banzaiiish You're so concerned with my "self". My body exists, and so does my mind. But I am not those things. They are just forms that are perceived. The perception itself is not me either.

Like I said. A movie with no audience, because the audience is IN the movie. The is nothing behind the movie screen, only life.

    Life living itself.

    Look.

  • @banzaiiish You're not your mind, or body. Look.

  • @banzaiiish The Self is nowhere. There is only direct experience. Seeing, no seer. thinking, no thinker. Life lives itself. No one to experience, there is only experience.

  • "self is conscious, the self take conscious about the things. "

To whom does this consciousness belong? How can consciousness be a Self, if it perceives the IDEA of a Self?

"Now if you ask me what is conscious we will never finish"

There is only consciousness, but that is not you. There is no You.

You are not your body or mind.

    Where is this Self?

  • Like you said there is no you...so there is also no you to not be your body and mind. Life is of itself so. What we are trying to do here with words is like a bucket trying to put itself in that very same bucket or as Watts says like the tip of the right index finger trying to touch the tip of the right index finger. 'The world as described is included in but is not the same as the world as it is' (from Tao The Watercourse Way).

  • @Foldisfitch Language is a poor vessel for communicating something which is fundamentally non-verbal.

However, there is a group on the internet who has committed themselves to showing people this thing, by way of direct pointing and self-inquiry. It has had a very high success rate, and over 200+ people have been "enlightened" (a loaded word with too many connotations, but accurate enough.)

I'd not have perceived this happening if not for people doing what I am doing here. Direct pointing.

  • @banzaiiish No logic. Just look.

You said your thoughts wait for a "Boss". Where is this boss? Can you point to it? Can you describe this boss? Since thoughts happen all by themselves (science proves this) where is the boss? You are not your thoughts, I am not mine. IF we were our thoughts, we would be just as uncontrollable as the thoughts.

We've been going at this for days, and you can't figure out what the Self is. Is it possible it never existed?

    Look for it.

  • @banzaiiish "IF there is no you, you can't experiement"

Why do you believe this? There is thought without a thinker, always. Thoughts just pop up, already picked out. You never choose your thoughts.

    Think something. RIGHT NOW

    |

    |

    |

    |

    |

    |

Did you know what you would think of, or did it just pop in there?

  • @HylianSpirit Right on. It's like if you think you think then answer me this question: Do you think about what you're gonna think before you think? ...No, because there is only 'thinking'.

  • @banzaiiish Life lives itself.

Your brain works ALL by itself, your body works ALL by itself. When you are running, there is no "you running". There is only legs running. No puppeteer.

You can't shut off your eyes, can you? Do you choose to see? Or does seeing just happen?

Tell me this, above all else: What do experiences happen to? Like, if you're listening to music; what is experiencing the joy?

  • @banzaiiish Tell me. "Who" watches" this movie? There is no audience.

The brain runs itself, and it runs the body. There is no puppeteer.

Prove to me I am wrong, and I will agree with you. Look for yourself. Prove me wrong.

    Where is the controller?

If you don't know, why are you believing in something that can't be seen and every time you look for it, it disappears?

  • @HylianSpirit If you believe in something you cannot see, touch, or identify; how is that different than believing in a Santa?

Where is this Self you believe in? What is it? "You don't know"? So you know more about Santa Claus?

  • @banzaiiish There isn't a point other than to see SEE (not imagine, think or agree) that the body and mind (and thoughts, and life, and perception etc etc etc) are NOT you.

You are missing the point in that you think you are watching a movie from inside your head. The movie (life) is not being watched by us. We are IN the movie. Perception of that movie is IN the movie.

The movie is the totality of all things. No Self. Only reality.

  • why is anyone leaving comments anyway? whats the point of that? to boost your ego, just like alan said hahahaha ur all back in the same mess

  • @uberuagaa How ironic...... :o

  • @uberuagaa you just did the same thing they are doing lol...boosting your ego....and so am I.....lol woops!

  • @banzaiiish You don't know if it's true for you as well, you won't look. You're a real coward. So afraid. SO afraid.

There is no You. Life lives itself.

    Look.

  • @banzaiiish You don't exist. True or false.

  • @banzaiiish Who is it who is angry? Is there only anger? Is that anger you? It couldn't be, that comes and goes. Does the Self come and go? Does it come and go like a thought that isn't chosen?

Or, again, you don't know? You don't know a lot of thing, do you? Especially about yourself.

  • @banzaiiish Not faith. Looking. You can see this for yourself, but you're too scared to look. You just glance and say "I don't know."

If you don't know, isn't that faith that there IS a Self? Nothing chooses your thoughts, nothing picks your memories, all your senses go without you.

If you look at a stranger on the street, why is that not you? What's the difference between you and him? Memories? Or are you going to be a fool again and say "I don't know"

    You're not stupid, you're scared.

  • @banzaiiish

You seem confused. Answer me this:

    1. Who does your body belong to?

    2. What is Self?

    3. What do experiences happen to?

  • @banzaiiish Then why is the Self any more real than Santa Claus?

  • @banzaiiish You found "don't know"? So you found another thought? Who thought that thought?

Look behind the thought. Follow it back to it's home. If you can't find anything CHOOSING the thoughts, the words, the memories... Then what is Self?

  • @banzaiiish So, you look, you can't find anything. You're on the right track. Why do you think you can't find anything?

  • @banzaiiish Yes, the brain survives by itself. It sends hunger signals to the body and says: "I am hungry."

So you don't know what chooses your words? Then do you know what chooses your thoughts? Can you find it in your mind?

  • @banzaiiish Blood is pumped by the heart, yeah. The brain runs the heart. The brain also runs all 5 senses. Nothing chooses to see, hear, look, smell or touch. What runs the brain?

What chooses your thoughts? When you think inside your head, what chooses the words? Look and see if you do. I don't think you'll find a puppeteer.

  • @banzaiiish I know nothing more than what you could see in 10 minutes or 10 seconds. You won't look.

What chooses your thoughts? What chooses your actions? What owns your perception? What beats your heart? What controls the brain? What decides?

Look. You won't find anything. That is what I'm pointing at. You won't look. Coward.

  • @banzaiiish You only escape the illusion that obscures reality and TRUE interaction with people. There is SOME aspect of yourself that wants to keep engaging with this idea, but another part that is rejecting it before you even ATTEMPT to look.

This illusion keeps us from TRULY being Human. Misery =/= Humanity

We are the ONLY known beings that suffer SO much. Everything else just lives life.

Look, don't look. I wasn't debating. I am just pointing, you won't look.

  • @HylianSpirit And further, you don't know the depth of this, if you don't look. You're thinking about it. You have to look. If your former perspective is so strong, this won't affect it. If it does, you gained something very special.

If you won't even look, it would seem you're afraid.

  • @banzaiiish I'm not special. At all. You could see this right now, if you looked for 10 minutes. It's as simple as you could want.

Look, or don't. But whether you do or not, the Self doesn't exist. It never did. It doesn't for children, and they're the most content people on Earth. Isn't it strange that everyone wishes they could be a kid again? They can vaguely recall this truth. The older you get, the stronger the illusion. The more is festers the human spirit.

    Look, or don't.

  • @banzaiiish People can't change? I beg to differ. Thousands have changed from this method. They have escaped depression and anxiety and needless suffering, and they have found an ease in their life. They no longer doubt their actions. They have seen true reality, unaffected by delusion.

Illusion is THE problem. Ego IS the problem. SELFishness IS the problem.

Do you want to be part of the misery machine, or do you want to help destroy it? Look. See for yourself.

  • @banzaiiish How do you intend to live in reality, when there's a screen in front of your face? When there is an illusion that something is experiencing life? That something is in control of it? Life lives itself.

I'm not talking about God, or Christianity. I'm talking about Jesus, the Man. He saw this. "The Kingdom of Heaven is within you."

Right now there is a self, but to whom does it belong? Nothing. You don't exist. There is only a thought. NOTHING chooses your thoughts. Look for yourself

  • @banzaiiish Furthermore, it IS an escape. It is liberation from the collective delusion.

Who is it who accepts what they have? It is a thought. A self-perpetuating thought.

You don't exist. You never have. What exists is a thought of Self.

To see this is literally the psychological source of enlightenment. It is what Jesus, Buddha, Osho, the Gita, Alan Watts, Eckhart Tolle, etc etc have spoke of.

You can see it now. Right now. Look for the Self, it isn't there.

  • @banzaiiish You realize not how many problems arise from self-concept. Wars start over self-concept. Wars over oil, to own status cars and keep them running. People work their whole lives to attain status jobs, so they can make money they don't have time to spend. To buy things that suck up the rest of their free time. Material things. Things to feed the insatiable appetite of Self.

It has imprisoned the human race.

What's ridiculous, it IS AN ILLUSION. It can be SEEN THROUGH if they LOOK.

  • @banzaiiish There IS no you. Nothing chooses your thoughts, nothing chooses your actions, nothing beats your heart, or operates your organs. Life lives itself.

There is no you. At all. Look, you won't find it.

    no-self.c o m/

remove the spaces. find out for yourself.

  • There is a body, the mind and its' emotions and thoughts are just forms amongst other forms. You are NO MORE that body and its' components than you are another someone's body.

Even the perception of all these things is another form. It isn't you. Everything about the body and it's functions are WHOLLY autonomous. Clockwork.

There is no You. There is only a body, and life. You are not them, they just are.

  • @banzaiiish Speaking of the ego as though it has a life of its own ("the ego thinks he knows so he talks") IS assigning to it a form or identity of its own.

And is telling me what MY ego is doing eight now not also not presuming to know the thoughts of a person whom you're not? The problem with criticising the egos of others is that the criticism always comes from another ego.

  • "the ego thinks he knows so he talks, he has a lot of theories, stories, he likes to beleive and to communicate messages...this is part of his strategy."

Of course that's what it does, that's it's very purpose. Are you suggesting that people not communicate knowledge to one another?

  • @banzaiiish ALL helping is action of the ego; doing things for others because they directly benefit us, or doing them because we enjoy the positive feelings altruism arises in us. The "ego" is not some independent entity that houses every negative component of human character as you seem to believe. You're speaking from ego right now, by having developed the belief that Watts was dishonest and fraudulent, and clinging to that believe in defense of your assertion.

  • @banzaiiish He never said to "do nothing"; he said that all activity is borne from stillness. And perhaps it's true that he could not stop because he felt that he needed to communicate his message to others or perhaps because doing so gave his life meaning. I don't see the relevance that has to any of what he's said.

  • @banzaiiish He spoke all his life about it to remind the people who had forgotten.

  • @banzaiiish ok

  • @banzaiiish You are beginning to show signs of obsession.

Ask yourself why not. I'm personally getting tired of you, because my interests are elsewhere, you have to take that thinking step yourself and not expect me to hand you everything, because you'll keep feeling the urge to come back here to your guru, me. I'm trying to help you be the way you say you yourself are, but it seems to be an impossible task even for you.

  • @banzaiiish I never said it was. It really seems to me youd on't really know what you're doing? I'm not sure if you're even trying, all is fine by me but I would imagine you'd like yourself to be taken seriously.. And I say this in a caring way, not in an insulting way, you are trying to compete, but I don't think you can win because I personally wont play along with you, and you need a loser to be a winner.

  • @banzaiiish It can. Be as lost as you want to be my friend.

  • @banzaiiish Hahhah I think you're all lost in that little game of "avoid responsibility of my words" :D I will not judge you, still, but I will point out what I see.

Whatever makes you happy my friend, then so be it.

  • @banzaiiish Ah, I see you're just not being honest enough anymore. Well, you don't have to answer to me about anything, but if you want to develop yourself, starting with yourself usually is the custom to enlightenment.

  • @banzaiiish So why do you think it's correct for you to tell people not to listen to Watts, and claim they don't need him, if you don't even know?

  • @banzaiiish But they might.

Alan Watts has said multiple times that he is not a guru, he is merely sharing information. You can do what you wish, and I'll do what I wish to do, and everyone else does what everyone else wishes to do. In the end it doesn't matter. Life is strange in that way, nothing matters, but people tend to care an aweful lot about a lot of things. I care about somethings, but they rarely involve any other people than my little boy. What do you cling on to? Why are you here?

  • @banzaiiish I'm not trying to shut you up, I've been asking you to speak all along. That is a verse from the bible.

Perhaps, when someone is telling you to perhaps think again they are not ordering you. I am giving you something to think about, and it might mean that you would find yourself being quiet, but it wasn't an order as much as it was something which just simply affects you. But by all means if youre just here to preach some then I don't want to stop you. I was just interested in why.

  • @banzaiiish Well before telling others what to do, I would really look within myself first. I would answer questions about me before giving commands to other people. "Don't take what is in your brothers eye, before you have removed what is in your own eye." You do as you wish, but your motives are hidden to the rest of us, and can only be guessed.

  • @banzaiiish You talked here first. I'e told you why I talk to you, you haven't said why you needed to come here.

I doubt mr. Watts knows anything right now, because he's dead. And did he know before hand, I'm sure he had his ideas but none of us can know for absolute certainty until we actually die.

  • @banzaiiish You came here, and no one forced you, I would presume this. Please speak all you wish, you've wondered into company that will listen to your every word and help you in what you need. You are amongst friends. You came here claiming or at least expecting the world to need you. But what do you need from the world that made you come here.

  • @banzaiiish It's just you, friend. You are all over the place, which is again fine by me (that means I don't judge, which you try and imply). I'm trying to get to the bottom of your tragedy because it's what interests me. I assume you just want to feel like someone but I owuld nevre find out for sure since you lack very much in integrity.. Try thinking about it for a while.

  • @banzaiiish Have you even listened to what he says?

Can the people help being weak and in need of guidance? You are making a grave misunderstanding here, and I don't think it really can even be pointed out to you, you'll have to think about it in all honesty and unfiltered reflection. You are the one with the ego here, and I'm not judging, I'm telling you how it seems to be. You are constantly trying to make yourself b ehigher than everyone else by judging them etc. You have not learned.

  • @banzaiiish "But somepeople are children, they need a dad-master..."

How judgemental, and if you say this is true, then why are you telling people who need gurus not to go to them? I'm afraid you'r enot making much sense, you're setting up rules which frankly I wouldn't follow. Watts himself has said not to follow gurus, and also that he is not a guru, and that people who go to gurus will soon find out why they don't need them, but that is a process. You went to someone to find your opinion out

  • @banzaiiish Better, in what way?

  • @banzaiiish You're making great assumptions of knowledge here, people gain their way if it is possible to them, by different means. They don't need to do anything, they do what they do and that's it.

It is like telling a child they must understand grow up concepts to be grown up. They will start looking for the concepts and will not find them and migth even give up remaining children forever, and only if they would have allowed themselves to grow, they would have found them. Let people grow.

  • Legend I love Alan watts

  • @banzaiiish I am relaxed pretty much. Telling someone to relax is another thing.. :I

  • @ChuckNorrisKratosLOL The title says 'alert', and that is what is meant by trying to be alert. Perhaps you missed the little marks around the word. He is saying not to be what one might think is being alert, because that way you are not really being what Watts calls in an alert state of mind. It's the same word, but with the different meanings differetiated here with the ' markings.

  • @banzaiiish You are telling people what to do. I don't want to.

Listen to Watts, or the radio, anything, it's their business and not mine at all. You can come here and order people around but it doesn't matter. You try to be on top of everyone by barging in giving orders. Do you need to come here and tell people not to listen? If people do what they do what business is it of yours? If one smokes and feels good about it what do you care? Wait till they come to you and give them advice.

  • @banzaiiish Again, people don't need to do anything. You are telling people what to do.

People will do what they will do. If you wantto fuck around and chang ethings then you're mor ethan welcome to. If you want to do something else you go and do it. If you want to do nothing you go ahead and try doing nothing, which you'll only be able to really do once your dead. I understand you, but you're not playing your game by your own rules here, and expect others to do so by installing a "need".

  • @banzaiiish One doesn't need to do any of that sort. When you even begin speaking of need you've misunderstood the concept.

People can not burn their spiritual manuals, or people can burn them, you do whatever you do. You coming here to tell people what to do is showing that you have no idea of what mr. Watts was actually attempting to say. You're one of those people he says "want's to rule the world".

  • @banzaiiish That's sort of obvious isn't it.

You don't need a manual to build things, but it does help doesn't it?

  • i find this quite difficult to follow...especially when he's on about the piece of paper

  • Vernon Howard or Osho might be agreeable to you.

  • krishnamurti, that's all.

  • any other amazing people like alan watts that i can listen to? im new to this and i just cant get enough! i feel like ive been waiting to find this type of info my whole life : )

  • @kajesh56 Yes there are quite a few amazing people, you can find more on my channel!

  • @kajesh56 Ever listened to Terence mc Kenna?

  • @kajesh56 personally, I also enjoy listening to Terence McKenna ..........I also like listening to Manly P Hall (although he was in a bit of another direction from Watts .... more of the idea of trying to avoid desires and eliminate dualistic desires - and more info from the esoteric point f view.... whereas Watts seems to be saying you can get involved in life's game if you really know its Maya)

  • @kajesh56 Terence McKenna is another good one.

  • @kajesh56 Carl Sagan, Terrence Mckenna, Joe Rogan, Krishnamurti

  • @dhenriquezmedia Carl Sagan: Good, McKenna: Good, Krishnamurti: Good, Joe Rogan: Wtf?

  • @kajesh56 hey check out abraham hicks, and Seth books by Jane roberts. thats where I started. Trust yourself and be easy on your self,

    Many blessings,

  • Paul Goodell i heard GOD TODAY SAY ,LISTEN TO THE SILENCE. DO NOT LISTEN TOO THE CONFUSION. SILENCE IS WHERE I WALK..

  • i get high a lot so this will be a difficult exercise....lol.

  • go alan go alan go alan

  • Thank you.

  • " '...be aware of yourself as you are, without judgment. see what is. but then, if you can do that, you have no further problem. but if you try to do it, you're in the same mess all over again.' "

  • "But if you try to do it, you are in the same mess all over again." Very true, if you "try" to do it, you are not being the "observer" but you identify with your "thoughts" again, and it is like running around in circles trying to get somewhere.

  • That was delicious!

  • tuff stuff

  • In the very beginning it sounds like Alan is quoting "Christian Amerdy." Does anybody know who that is or the correct spelling of the name?

I've heard the name before but am having trouble finding anything

  • @beavis226 Krishnamurti

  • @beavis226 Jiddu Krishnamurti to be exact. J. Krishnamurti.

  • Take care not to misinterprete this as meaning that you do not need to 'try' to be mindful. The Buddha's last words were "Strive on and be a light unto yourself". Balanced energy is called for. Let the chicken run about but within it's yard. In time 'your' effort will be transcended. This is just my gentle advice that can be ignored.

  • Beautiful talk, really made me feel peace.

  • If you are into who you are. Do nothing and see nothing. There is no space for ego. It does not exist. One wave. This person in this vid is sleeping. In sleep he is dreaming about who he think he is. Whatever he say it is not important for you. It is only for him. Whatever I say you can not understand. I is always in sleep. Dream is insperation but you can not learn from it. It was you and always you.
  • @fhbjhbhbkjb there's always space for ego

    you just got to leggo

    of it

    from time to time

"I is always in sleep" I agree with that, very smart actually, did you think of that yourself?

  • you should do or die, not try.

But that do not means that we should not work for our liberation, and fight against all kinds of exploitation and dogma.

What is going on in this word today is not something I just let happen for too long time. We have to take action to let the humanity be like one.

  • Good way to stop panic attacks and anxiety.

  • @SourDieselMyNeezle : There are no such things as panic attacks and anxiety, it's just what happens; it's all created by your mind. Fear doesn't exist, there are no boundaries. You are the void. When you realize that fear doesn't exist you are free.

  • @ravkes Free from your self** :)

  • Happiness is what happens.

  • Yup. Couldn't have put it better bro.

  • @ravkes sometimes fear (and anger) is necessary, it is up to each person's judgement at their own particular moment. We open our minds as alan sez, we focus our minds sometimes, open close open close, we each have our own frequency, it can only be up to us to choose which, but it's a matter of faith that we choose correctly from one moment to the next.

    there's always risk

    thats life mate

i just had to say that...preach over

  • He sounds like Richard Burton.

  • Yes this is a perfect explanation of being instead of doing..As we remember who we really are we release the old tattered view of who we thought we were and awaken to who we truly are, a human BEING :) instead of a human doing....

    thanks

    Very well said.

  • @Hawkflieshigh, and the others with their thumbs high up hawk's fly, what will this new being, so self-aware, do or perhaps not do when those self-unaware and unpeaceful beings around them take everyone and everything towards waste, war and destruction? Should we not think, speak and act towards a more responsible, critical and whole relationship to the earth, to each other and therefore to ourselves in our being related one to another and one to all?

  • Yes indeed.
