I have been living in Germany for the past 10 years. I built my family here & I love Germany. I love the culture & the people. The U.S. installations provide German classes to learn the basics of the language & the culture. I also learned from my German friends & neighbor. It is a hard language to learn but worth learning.Now that my kids have duo citizenship & can speak it fluently, I'm glad I did learn it! I LOVE GARMISCH & THE AUTOBAHN! :o)

Just got back from a nice trip around Germany, Frankfurt, Berlin, Dresden, Nurenburg ... side trip to Praha.. what a wonderful place - we'll definitely go back and I plan to spend serious time studying the language to be able to enjoy it more.. great people, great place!

Perhaps it's because I looked different or it is the way in whcih they interact with each other. One day I went to a supermarket and asked a clerk for something, and she just stared at me with this unfriendly grin...This happened to me many times. There are nice people but generally they suck.

I also studied German as a youngster and have lived in Germany for several years. Therefore, I have a well rounded perspective on this particular subject regarding German stereotypes. Nice video! The mainpoint for me is the honesty of telling their true opinions of germany and german behaviour. I´m from germany and I also have prejudices of Americans. I also have to learn and have to change my opinions by getting in touch with them. And I hope I will get further informations of the country when I go there in the future. But is has to to start with the full consciousness about the own opinion of other cultures and lifestyles, even if they are wrong! (I hope my English is ok)

In Europe you are very close to each other, you can see france, italy, poland,spain,portugal or whatever in a single week if you want :P (of course not really "see" anything but at least visit it and get an idea of different people and cultures)

Perhaps it's because I looked different or it is the way in whcih they interact with each other. One day I went to a supermarket and asked a clerk for something, and she just stared at me with this unfriendly grin...This happened to me many times. There are nice people but generally they suck.

You can't make friends with them as easily and as deeply as you can make friends in latin america for example. Nobody can deny that the English (from London) for example are a bit aloof also.

So there are people from all over the world which are probably all different. Maybe you dont got the best experience and I dont deny that there are rude or coold people in Germany, but probably not everyone fits this ;)

Regardless of any particular culture, it is best to keep an open mind, immerse oneself in the culture to learn about the people on a personal level, and not allow stereotypes to overshadow ones view of the culture and its people.

German is a very "complete" language. Most people think german is a harsh language because they heard it from hitler. Yes, harsh things sound harsh in german, but lovely things sound lovely. Speaking german means that you transport the meaning and the mood of the word's content with your pronounciation, or transport your mood in it.

Also Americans don't say Europe has them by the balls especially with the U.S. federal reserve having to help the EU bailout some of it's members and giving the big three money as well. Also if you actually looked around the globe at developed countries while the U.S. debt is rather large Japan is actually worse they have 200% debt to GDP yet there economy is bigger than Germany's and slightly smaller than China's.

Let's see the U.S. economy is roughly 14.6 trillion dollars the entire world economy is around 61.9 trillion in 2009 so the U.S. makes up roughly 23.5% of the entire world economy. So if Europe and China did bankrupt the U.S. it would be the same as them putting a gun in there mouth and pulling the trigger.
