  • is there anyway to get one for a evga board??

  • don't waste your money on this people - take the time to invest how make a hackintosh - its really pretty simple if you buy the right stuff.

  • how do u get the drivers installed?

  • "OS-Ecks" drives me nuts. It's "OS-Ten". Sorry for being anal.

  • still working?

  • @jaimespin - at least it's not working with snow leopard as these guys, who did nothing but stealing the opensource code from the osx86 community in case of violating it's licenses, to build the overpriced USB memory, forced those who where dumb enaugh to buy one, to buy another usb dongle for another bunch of money, to be able to use 10.6^^

  • Exclusive Report: EFI-X Mac Booter, A Scam?

Read TomsHardware and OSNews special reports.

  • people say its a scam because it is somthing you can create your self for example constructing a boot132 cd but if ur lazy this is the best way to go, thats all u need to relize

  • efix chip actually cost $219...

  • v1.1?

  • LOL @ 500 gb of ram.

  • if i had that motherboard ill overclock the living crap out of my CPU.

  • Nice job! Thanks for the video. Are you running any sound card that OSX recognizes? It looks as if the EFI-X will only recognize USB or FW (1394) audio.

  • damn that there isn't a asus motherboard support...

  • hey i m thinking about ideneb if you use this hardware it is know bye mac osx so you dont need an efi-x i think

  • EFI-X is just emulating the OSX "bios"...hence the (EFI) which stands for Extensible Firmware Interface.. thats is how in a nutshell mac "powers on" all efi-x is doing is emulating this so u can run retail OSx... there are free ways around such as a boot132 cd but some people dont wanna waste time doing that so they get this

  • you problem downloaded a bad copy of os 10...the osx dvd has this thing were as if u use it on a computer it can only be use on that computer only.....during the osx install process it burn some info of your computer to the disk...i was heaving the same problem..so i had a friend who had the osx disk and was smart enough to burn a copy and back up the disk as a dmg on his external hdd....so he just burn me a copy and walla...so search crigslist of something for a good copy..cost like $25

  • it is EFI-X

  • Your video is not lame, it's great!

I am going for a hackintosh as I am sick and tired of my powermac G5 2Ghz. I was looking for a video of efi-x working on a hackintosh and was happy to view yours.

    Thanks.

  • Great video... I would like to say that, A: you could use iDeneb or iATKos etc. for free wit no extra hardware or purchasing of any extra software... im running that on my laptop. I'm considering this because being an iphone app developer with out a stable mac is kinda hard... only my machine im running now dominates and runs AMD. i wish the EFIX chip would support the i7s.

  • just to comment on the i7 processor it does have support for it, i just finished putting one together for my friend

  • excellent! which i7 did you use and what motherboard?

  • OS TEN, OS TEN, not OS "X"

  • Look at the System Info that he calls up. It's OSx. OS 10 is the version number. When someone talks about Apple OS, they say OSx.

  • Have to agree with what's above you, it's OS 10, as in it was released after OS 9, check all the keynotes, Apple themselves call it OS 10, the X is a roman numeral for 10, not rocket science really :)

It's wierd how this misnomer always annoys mac users, and I hate to say it myself included, think I need a life ;)

  • "fyi. A PC could out run and apple computer any day"

Well aren't we an ignorant little fan boy, two identical systems running any modern OS you want will be pretty much on a par as long as the user isn't an idiot. If you wanna come back with 'the gamez r quikzer on PC' you'd be right, but show me a windows box that runs Final Cut, or Logic Pro?

BTW, loving my Efix build, plus having a windows machine that runs games is such a bonus :)

  • ANYONE? :) oh shit shit , caps lol.

  • My hardware:

    Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6

    XFX 9800GX2

    4GB DDR2 OCZ ReaperX

    Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer

    7200RPM WDigital

I already own OSX Leopard. So if i buy this usb chip, I can install osx without problems?

  • well ur gpu is a probelm

it can run 9800gt 9800gtx but not gx2

and the audio care wont work

  • Does any one know if E-fix will support Blu-Ray

  • just got mine on friday works just like you said it would ..awesome

  • This thing is soo cool, im gonna surprise myself with 1 for christmas =] And i live in hungary so the shipping fee from Switzerland wont cost more than the stuff itself :]

  • Your video kicks ass man. You did an awesome job. Best I've seen on the web. Would be nice to see this baby overclocked. And I am sure if you figured it out you would make a video showing us the bios settings. hint hint... lol.

  • I think the video, audio, network drivers (kexts) are built in the EFiX chip (firmware). That's why EFiX supports only those hardwares listed on their website.

  • This is a very good explanation and proof that IT CAN BE DONE! Running OS X natively on a PC with the right hardware! I own a MacMini 2.0 and like to have a upgradable machine in the future without all the separate HD's, DVD drives, cables all over the place and I don't want the iMac. A Mac Pro is to expensive for me and one even can have a cheaper dual core INTEL and slightly cheaper hardware. I wonder, is this also possible with an laptop, or can't EFiX be put in a normal USB slot?

  • it only works on a motherboard usb header, not a usb port

  • Where can i get one of these dudes HELP

Ive been looking on the net like crazy man

  • Were did you buy the EFIX unit from and will this work on an 790 sli ultra board nforce.

    Thanks

    marty

  • I bought it on ebay, not sure about that board I just stuck to the compadability list on the efix website

  • The os is called OS X (10) first we had 9 now we have T E N. This is what you get when windows ppl get access to mac software... I am considering an EFi-X chip myself to though. And thanks for the vid of course!

  • I prefer saying X even though I'm 100% aware it means ten

  • "The os is called OS X (10) first we had 9 now we have T E N. This is what you get when windows ppl get access to mac software."

This is what you get when fanboys have nothing to contribute to the conversation. BTW, I have a Hackintosh - I also have 3 Macs and have been running them since 1987 and I call is O-S-EX...

Go away now and dream of sleeping with Steve Jobs..

  • I can use them there is still an open USB but i just have not plugged it in since I'm lazy

  • Great, it's incredible that efix (the company) hadn't done a video review and that you, as client, make the better video review about the usb. You should be paid for this man!! I've been waiting for at least two month for a review. Your video is quite nice, I understand that you have now a mac pro but I have still two questions: 1. Does time machine works? did you try it? 2. Did you try to edit some videos or to work on photoshop with a big file? How was it?

  • very nice video, in all the other videos of efix they don't really do much to show what it can do so thanks.

  • Great video, I hope get one Efix in México. =)

  • none it runs like a rock, it is a little bit slower on the boot up though. Only because it has to run the bios and what not. but overall it's a great investment

  • sony hdr-hc1 and imovie to post

  • nice video! enjoyed the commentary :) what video camera did you use?

  • lol, same as the other but good none the less :) I watched both :P

  • Baddass!!!
