Thats how a talk box works. Essentially what he's doing is playing the keyboard and the notes being formed to what his mouth is doing, like he's singing the pitch of what he's playing. It's not complicated just hard to explain

In fact , simple to explain, a speaker totally closed attached to a tube. Asoon as he plays a note he uses (this is the trick) he does not vocalize. He uses his mouth to shape the sound coiming out of the tube to form words.

These days you do not need this methode. Its oldskool...sequencers/software or hardware can do this true filters ectra.

I think you have tried to do too much with this, the original is beautiful in its simplicity and you have disregarded that with the use of the talkbox etc, also that piano melody is accentuating too much of the melody, leaves less nuance in the vocals. I like your voice and I appreciate what you are doing but I think you would sound better dwelling on certain notes rather than just sticking to the apparent RnB dogma of flittering as much as your vocal chords can handle.
