Reaper, the auditions and Hollywood rounds were done before his birthday in November. He turned 24 in November 2002. But when they showed his original audition in January 2003, he was already 24, even though it was recorded when he was 23. They didn't show this part of Clay's Hollywood audition in the original series, only during American Idol Rewind later after the season was over with. LOVE how he can just start in the middle of the song with no prep. That was awesome!
Is there the performance that the judges thought wasn't good enough for Clay to go on in the competition and they sent him packing?????? Did they drink too much the night before or did they have earplugs in???? What a bunch of boobs that night!! LOL
It's funny how skinny he was on the show & then 4 years later in the commentary, he's gained weight due to being on Paxil that year. He needed to gain weight, but he actually looks much better now kind of between the 2 weights shown here. Great voice, tho, always & forever.
