This game is mostly intended for brits and their trains. Hopefully in the future there will be a final replacement for Microsoft Train Simulator, with the graphics of Railworks, the physics of TS and no more of these tiny little class(insert number here) trains, just US diesels, for this side of the globe.

This game isn't really mean to be appealing to gamers. It's meant to dipict how driving a real train would be, and in fact, it is surprisingly acurate... at least as far as a game can go.

I like trains but this seems kinda boring. I think they should make it more interactive, like take your train into an old west town and spend a night with a hooker, get drunk, get in bar fights. Then you jump back on the train while being pursued by some evil cowboys. But what they don't know is that you're transporting Alien weaponry found in the mountains, which you then use to defend your train and vaporize them.

If you wanna get drunk, and fight, or protect yourself against aliens, then you'd better try out FPS or TPS games, such as AVP, or a LIFE simulator, such as Sims or Singles, but not TRAIN simulators. I hope you get the point.

Oh you get to see towns..and trees...and bushes...and buildings...oh my god I'm getting a woody! Trainsims are a type of games for everyone, independent of player age. But ablities like getting drunk would born high restrictions in the age recommendation, and then it would more likely be a Sims-clone w/ trains but not a game where your only goal would be to learn how to drive safely, and accurately, in both time and stop point.

This is why I don't encourage it.

Looks like the game has the same jitter problem as the previous RS. I have RS and even with my Intel Q9550 and a Radeon 5870, I get it. All my other sims like MS Flight run like a charm.

I think it reminds people of playing with train sets as a child only now you can actually simulate driving (do you drive a train?) one. I hate trains and cannot understand train spotters but am a flight sim fan and this reminds me of my huge train set as a kid and i have just bought on Steam....go figure! :)

I dont get it. Whats the appeal to this game? You could be shooting at people, or racing in a Gran Prix, but instead you catch the 7:20am train to hounslow.

It's a whole other game in the sense that it is separate from RailSim meaning you can have both installed and you have to pay for it but essentially it's just a slightly updated RailSim with some new routes and trains.

Man, Im so excited to play this game. Im downloading it now off steam.. it's at 43%.. I can't WAIT to watch my train go on a linear track at slow speeds!! If you want the Class 37, V200 or any of the American locos I'd say it is worth it provided you can still get the special offer price of £17.49. I have to say I'm not a fan of paying for fictional routes but the way I see it is that the Class 37 would have cost £9.99 alone so for £7.50 more I got the V200 which is very good, some American locos, the Cajon Pass route and the 3 fictional routes which I see as a bonus. So if it's still £17.49 I would buy it, if £34.99 I wouldn't.

I think of it as a tweaked Rail Simulator with lots of new stuff - 3 new fictional routes, the Cajon Pass which was released for the US Rail Simulator and 3 new locomotives. It comes with all the default stuff that you get with Rail Simulator as well. That's why they are offering it for half price for Rail Simulator owners. At that price I think it's a very good deal considering the Class 37 alone may have cost £10 or so.
