But original vesion this isn't. It's a rerecording, not a remastering even.

Ironic I can remember it so well -- when I fist heard the original in '69 I was impressed..... briefly. Then I twigged how shallow the damn thing is and went right off it. Still, it seems to have stuck. Urgh.

maybe it's because I'm a cynical young person who never lived through the actual 60s but I find its shallowness charming and refreshing :) It's like all that old scifi from the 60s, like Star Trek; it's making a serious point through a purposefully naïve viewpoint.

In 2525 The naivety wasn't 'purposeful', just common or garden standard naive ;-)

But Star Trek, ah now, that was more like 'Gunsmoke' - simplifying and distancing to make an ethical/social/moral point (and of course money) .... at least in its first incarnations.
