what would the ladder truck be accomplishing if it was deployed? it's a tiny building. and there is no good spot to put it. Not all situations are good for an aerial. this is one of them
ok... i see the lines.. but is there seriously a ladder truck sitting there with out being deployed...... like i said i know the lines r there i see them,,, is there somethign else off camera keeping them from lifting it??
Boy, pretty savvy group of video watchers we have here, able to diagnose pressure at the end of the line from a video that was taken from across the street and able to leap tall buildings. My opinion, good knockdown given what you had and number of personnel on scene.
nope if you look at it, it was perfect. the house was a goner. look at the turbulent black smoke at the rear, and how the fire was moing slowly through the front. they did what they could and had two lines flowing. 1 for attack be it defensive or offensive. and they had one to protect exsposures. theres nothing they could have saved in that house.
Chief, i agree with your post except the flow issue. I think it is easy to see even on this video (not the best quality). obviously the job gets done but let us never strive for being ok. we all need to evaluate our flows and hose handling skills to become better firemen.
transitional..no problem with getting the enviorment cooled down before committing in. as the smoke tells us (looking at the rear smoke column) the whole house is highly heated and require immediate application.
i think alot of the problem with water is a mess of hose on the porch. It looks to me like a bit of a spaghetti mess. As far as ventilation is concerned, no one needs to be on the roof, the fire already vented itself out of at least 3 windows. I tend to agree that other than some hose issues, not a bad job on the knockdown.
I agree. Horrible nozzle control. Open that nozzle wide open. They don't seem to be in much of a hurry. No ventilation being done. Terrible water pressure. No ladders.
there isn't much flow on the line. that is a very poor stream and it looks like a fog stream too..... a poor engine company video, sorry but call a spade a spade. can someone tell me what lake charles flows on a handline? (answer is "not alot", i'll give it 100 gpm)

From the time water hit the porch to a good knockdown is about 3 minutes. Pretty good if u ask me! Especially with the few guys they had.

Chief, i agree, nothing wrong with hitting from the outside then going in for the mop up.

I read the posted comments before I watched the video, expecting to see an overall poor performance.
What I see, is a transitional attack, that knocked the fire down in just under two minutes from the time the nozzle was opened up.
Yes the pressure & flow look a bit tame, however it is hard to say from here.
As far as hitting it from the unburned side.. by the time they can get the attack, backup in place on side C, they would probably have lost the house.
Overall... Good job.
