wow! i'm surprised how people that old can't bend! i myself am a 15 year old kid and i can bend 3-4 frets up with my 11's.. then again there's is still a lot to learn. i don't mean to boast. i just thought bending was such a basic skill.

i think by far the hardest technique to master is sliding and learning to really use it. then again i should maybe listen closely to the vibratos.

with out some ridiculously strong Vibrato imo that sounds kinda amature-ish depending on how you use it and when you use it

i mean picture a mellow jazzy progression with some guy Vibrating the hell out of it.

the vibrato and bending stuff to me comes naturally. i mean that little things like adding the vibrato to a bend in the right time. it's just a matter of taste and if one has it then listening to what they are playing and of course experimenting.

my teacher taught me a valuable lesson about mellow playing: it is important. dynamics is the key to class.

yes, the bend would be dramatic, but a good exercise. ;) over the top exercises make normal playing easier.
