Also Captain the main poll (AP) in 1939 and most others gave the Aggies the NC. One that didn't was the Dickinson Poll gave it to USC even though USC had two ties during the season and the Aggies were perfect. Ironically this poll went out of business the next year. USC claims this year mainly because they want to pad their list to outdo Notre Dame but it doesn't fool serious football fans.

I would just like to point out that USC played a great game that night, it was the best game of their season. If they played their average, they would have been killed in Pasadena. Anyone else remember the second half comebacks they had to pull against Arizona State, Notre Dame, Fresno State, and Stanford? Only one of those four teams is respectable on a national scale and I seem to remember that team getting WHIPPED by an Ohio State team that lost to Texas.

We won the game, but USC did "win" that second championship. You could have threepeated but instead you got left with 1 and half championships. That's not much better than Texas's past 2 seasons, especially considering the strength of schedules.
