I dont understand how the crop keeps in those silo's without compaction.I'm sure the wieght of the crop will compact the lower half but surely there must be alot of waste and rotten feed closer to the top??????
You are constantly feeding out of the top; therefore, spoilage is minimal unless you don't feed out of it for days. They are enclosed and there is little circulating oxygen. But even if you don't feed out of it for months, then it will only rot 12-18" before you access the good stuff.
@rbrentbillingsley Do you like that type of distributor in your silo? we just had a silo of ours moved and one of those put in, i forget the name right off the top of my head though. . would it be a lancaster? correct me if im wrong?

@jdsmall4430 I do believe it is a Lancaster. New in 09. Did fine once I got it set right. Started out blowing straight out the other side and down the chute.
Lancaster Level-Flo distributor, right? they're pretty nice. we have 3 new ones. nice job on the tarp idea!
