I love this number so much. I wish every song and dance number was available from this movie on YouTube. It really makes it look like that was the best time to be alive.
The girl in the orange bikini with yellow fringe (1:23-1:43), who sets those marshmallows on fire, thats Susan Hart. In August 1964 she married Jim Nicholson who was half owner of American International Pictures (Sam Arkoff owned the other half). AIP is the company that produced and distributed Pajama Party, among the other Annette Funicello Beach Party movies.
Pajama Party is one of the most surrealistic of the AIP BP movies. Love it. I thot Tommy Kirk was just right for the part as the Martian...good role for Bobbi Shaw too, more screen time....all good!
Pajama Party is probably not the best of the series but it has, IMO, the best dancing by far so it's my favorite. Candy, Susan Hart, Bobbi Shaw, Donna at her sexiest plus the amazing Buster Keaton dance number in the closing credits... all it's really missing is John Ashley and Don Rickles and it would be the perfect beach party movie.
Frankie Avalon was in the movie. His voice is heard throughout as the leader of the Martians intent on taking over Earth, and he makes an appearance at the very end.
Toni Basil who is a friend of mine looks almost the same now at age 65. Donna Loren should have been a bigger star. Nothing will ever be this cute or innocent again.
hahahahaha! OMG I saw the boner! Did you see Buster Keaton stealing all of their food? LOL

Nice song. I do like the music from 1962-66.
I wonder what model Gibson Nooney is using. It looks like a 1964 ES-175,but the fret markers do not seem to match.

@classicphile Susan Hart is still involved in charity in Nicholson's name.

I wish I still had enough hair to have a smooth blond pompadour hairstyle like the drummer and the saxophonist in the Nooney Rickett IV.
Note the blatant product placement of Dr. Pepper in the final scene. Donna Loren was doing their commercials at this time.

Always good to see Buster Keaton, Annette, et al. Those were fun movies to watch as a kid.

....and as an adult! I have 2 dvds with 2 movies on each!
Buster had a bigger part in "How to Stuff a Wild Bikini" Bwana-Chickie-Baby!

That he did--of course he played the startled fisherman who hooks a bikini top in "Beach Blanket Bingo".

Isn't that Toni Basil singing?
Curvex11 3 years ago
No, that's Donna Loren. Toni Basil and Teri Garr are both among the background dancers in this film, but neither of them sing in it.

The introductory song before 0:08 was purty gay.
Except for the gay 1st song, the rest of the movie is purty OK.
