  • What u did was soooo great - Im soo sorry that this happened to you - This video made me cry because my dog recently died and we found 2 stranded dogs and we put them in a shelter. But the shelter we chose was vet recommended - but still this is soooo sad! I hope you get your dogs back and they all find great homes!

  • If I knew this was going on I would have come down there and adopted all the dogs to my friends, then for step 2, give them all back to you in wich, to get the dogs back to the loving and caring home, such as yours.

  • Thanks for the nice comment....actually we had been working on several options for the dogs and the day before they came in I had been in touch with North Shore Animal League who was willing to help us out with as many as we wanted to send them..they were going to come down and get some on Monday but the SPCA seized them on the Friday before..North Shore even called KCSPCA and offered to still take them all and KCSPCA refused their assistance.

  • now thats just wrong :(

  • It was...there could have been better alternatives..KCSPCA put many of them to sleep..claimed they had sarcoptic mange and they didn't want to take the time/money or energy to treat them so they euthanized all the ones they thought had mange plus they euthanized a couple senior dogs in the group. I still have to go to court on the 28th of this month. The rabies violation charge is soo ridiculous. Two more days and they would have all benn innoculated.

  • We already treated them for internal and external parasites..had them heart worm tested and updated their distemper and bordatella vaccinations..rabies shots were the only ones we were having a little difficulty with as we were trying to find a vet who would come to the house an innoculate them at minimal cost..North Shore Animal was helping us with that also.

  • We had them just 10 days when they took them..you can obviously see how much we did for them in that short time..look at the puppies when they first arrived..you could see all their bones..in 10 days they put on weight..were free from parasites and began to trust us..they were laying with toys for the first time in their life only to have it all taken away from them..

  • what I should do is post the horrific pictures of how they were being kept at KCSPCA...an employee who thoguht what they did was wrong was able to go int he building these dogs were kept in for weeks and took some pics..it was sickening. I still have all the pictures.

  • Thanks for the clarification...I was intentionally not naming any names in the video but not everyone may know the difference between the two Shelters.

  • Let us Please clarify one thing. The "authorities" mentioned and pictured in the video or from Kent County SPCA, not the Delaware SPCA. The Delaware SPCA had no involvement in this case. The Delaware SPCA has no affiliation with Kent County SPCA who now does Dog Control state wide. Delaware SPCA continues to investigate animal cruelty in New Castle and Sussex Counties

  • The shelter that has the dogs now has no place for them to go outside and play, they are kept inside no matter how wonderful the weather.Don't try and say they are in isolation as I understand one of them has been sent out of state without being neutered. So now who is violating the law?

  • elawyatt,

In re-reading your post I see you mention the dogs were going to be placed without shots, you need a better source of information I know for a FACT that all the dogs had been given all shots except for rabies and that was in the process of being taken care of. The shelter that has the dogs now has no place for them to go outside and play, they are kept inside no matter how wonderful the weather.

  • I have to believe that elawyatt is employed at the SPCA by the knowledge and comments they made. If so and they are prosecuting this person then making comments is quite innappropiate and I would think an attorney ,if any, would be interested in knowing.

  • I have been involved with animals for many years both dog sports and rescue. Crating dogs is more than HUMANE it is protection for the animal and a safe place for them to get away when they need time alone. Almost all dog show venues require dogs to be crated while in the show building etc. They also make it mandatory to stack crates. Some of these shows last several days to week long and then many handlers keep them stacked in their rigs while on the road and during shows.

  • That is just insanely riduculous especially since it clearly shows the dogs were allowed plenty of time outdoors. I have been to many shelter and seldom do they provide toys to play with. Does this SPCA give the dogs toys? Maybe they can post some pics of the dogs in their facility in the 10 ft long kennels so we can see how they are being treated there.

  • I have volunteered at shelters and it is my experience in 99% of the cases the dogs and cats receive minimal care. Just the basics to keep them in compliance. Seldom do the workers have time to spend throwing a ball..teaching tricks..doing obedience work etc. This is almost always time given by volunteers and even then there aren't enough to work with each dog.

  • Adoption fee's vary from shelter to shelter. I know some shelters charge by the size and breed of the dog. 100.00 fee is quite minimal compared to some places who charge several hundred. I highly doubt all dogs would be adopted in one day and the daily cost of care, food, vaccinations, electric, water, etc., not to mention the hours involved for cleaning would far outweigh that amount in just a few short weeks.

  • Elawyatt Your comment Mrs.Dillon was going to sell the dogs is so far off base. Someone in your position should think a bit before posting that. Had the shelter not stepped in most of the dogs would be in homes right now, not as you say playing in 10 foot runs. Nice life!

What is inhumane about a dog being in a crate, nothing as long as they are getting proper care and allowed to play outside in the fresh air. Which I am sure they were in Mrs. Dillons hands.

  • Wow, did you even think to look into the laws before you brought the dogs to DE. Remember Wicomico County having to put down all those dogs because of an illness. Do you really think being kept in a wire crate on top of other wire crates is humane. At least the SPCA has 10 foot kennels they get to run and play in. I heard you were planning on selling the dogs for 100 dollars without all shots or paying for the spaying. So you were planning on making $6400.00. Whats the motive now.

  • Keep it up my friend!

  • Very nice video, I really hope these dogs get to come back to their clean loving enviorment, then being in the hell cell's their in now!

    Good Luck!
