I just fixed mine exactly like yours. My problem was the screen was completely black but I could change channels and hear the audio. I only layed it on the floor on its side and now it works. I doubt know how but I hope it doesn't happen again.

Just an FYI ...if you bought it on a credit card you might have a "protection plan" automatically and this may extend the warranty on it for an additional year or 2.

Ya, My SAMSUNG monitor does that (nothing).  Turns out that all that is wrong with it is the the power board but it's currently out of stock everywhere I looked. One day it worked then the next nothing. Perhaps that is what's wrong here?

Magnavox is not a good brand. I have a tv and turns itself after i turn it off. LOL!!!!!

99 times out of 100 there is a simple problem with your power supply. Your TV is in a shut-down (self-protect) mode due to incorrect voltages from the PS. There are several capacitors in the PS that work with voltage regulator chips. These "caps" go bad for the same reason a light bulb will burn out, causing a shut-down. "Caps" cost only a few dollars each and bad ones can easily be spotted by their swollen tops. You can fix it yourself if you're mechanically skilled & have good solder skil

@GeneDunno - thats true. i need to replace the caps on my 37 inch. although my power light comes on like everyone else with these pos tvs.been trying to turn it on for nearly 2.5 hrs and if it comes on im not turning it off for a long time. im doubtful though since it usually only takes 25-30 mins. where can i find the capacitors , frys, radio shack? im done with magnavox and samsung and their cost cutting use the wrong voltage bullshit

I don't buy warrenties cause it's not suppose to break down. But w/Magnovox you almost have to.. My 27" reg tv a lil under two years old doesn't turn on anymore after the screen looked like in had a magnet next to it for about a mounth. I'll be calling to complain soon.

I have a 2001 RCA Flatscreen. I don't know how big it is, but currently, the top half of my screen is like a big stretched out upside down mirrior, The bottom half works fine, but in the middle, there is a medium sized line that has what the top half didn't stretch out into only 1 inch also upside down. It sometimes goes back to normal, but it soon goes back. This has happened to me three times before. On time in December for about 5 minutes and June for about 4 hours. It has been about 8 now.
