What a cute clip! Brings back so many precious memories of my 1960's childhood. A much more innocent & simpler time. I wish more kids today would be exposed to wholesome & educational cartoons like this. THANKS so much for posting this delightful "blast from the past"!! CHEERS! :-)
I actually had a shinking violette doll.Got her for Christmas. I played with her soooo much that she stopped talking! She spoke when you pulled the string....about five different comments! She was well loved! Watched the cartoon every Saturday morning with Alphabits ceral!
I remember seeing this in third grade (1966) on Sally Starr's Popeye Theater right here in Phiiladelpihia. It came on at 4 o'clock: right after I got home from school.
Those were all favorites too. Do you remember a show that followed the funny co. about a real chimp named 'Chatter'? It may of been on before or after B.J. and Dirty Dragon.
The mid 1960s, in my humble opinion, were the END of good childrfens animated programming, while even the stuff called educational of the ealrier era was not "Care Bear/Barney" claptrap.'
BTW used to see this in 1963 and so on.
BTW This show was written by the guy who produced Roger Ramjet. [Ken Snyder.]
A baseball bat \that either he or she or some offscreen kid would hit and some bell jingle would play, and the kid would sya, Let's be friends, and the title, and the episode.
Does anyone remember a show called "Friends" or "Let's Be Friends", made in 1970 ?"
[Jennifer Aniston]
FRIENDS-like,that show did SO not happen! [/Jennifer Aniston]
LOL Yeah, I remeber, not THAT Friends,m with Coutrney Cox,et al but the 1970 [producer Bob Behrens] series. It was in Coconut Grove, Florida in 1970 and some random kid, different each time,
I have several episodes of "Kid's Stuff" by Bob Behrens, produced from 1964-66. I remember the series of live action shorts from the mid-60s on "Captain Satellite." They didn't play it for long, though, and I can't find ANYTHING on "Kid's Stuff" or Behrens. Perhaps I'll post a "Kid's Stuff" or three in the future.
The Funny Company was one of the most memorable cartoons from my childhood.Kudos to Ken Snyder for giving us education as well as fun.I loved Buzzer Belle,Mary Twitter,Jasper National Park,Dr.Tod,Super Chief,Shrinking Violette(anyone who remembered the Funny Company in later years remembered her)and Beli Laguna.I always remembered the Keep Smiling song and was thrilled to hear it again and find the actual words on another video.
Thanks for bringing back something that I was sure I had just imagined, since it was so long ago. Great cartoon with education thrown in! I am surprised that someone has not been offended by the Indian chief and had this series wiped from the face of history! Thanks for letting me be a kid again for a few minutes!
I remember this show rather vaguely, but didn't know what the heck kind of animal Terry was (I always thought he was a dragon!)
The show is currently being seen on a Christian-themed children's network called "Smile of a Child" (where I live, it's on WTBY channel 54.5 in Poughkeepsie), along with such other Christian classic 'toons as "SuperBook," "Flying House," and "Davey and Goliath."
I remember this from the third grade (1964), but I looked it up in YouTube because the "Smile of a Child" copies currently airing have the intro edited. The scene where the kids walk past the guy holding the Stop signs seems to be edited out, and the scene near the end where all the kids are poking out the house is removed too. Can't understand why these two short parts are censored on "Smile of a Child"!?...
Does anyone remember a show called "Friends" or "Let's Be Friends", made in 1970 ?
The show was about kidswho would be in different cities around the country. They'd be of a variety of races and colors. The show would start off like this:
"Hi, I'm Bill from San Diego...Let's be friends". Then he'd talk about his city for five minutes.
If ANYONE remembers this show, and if anyone knows where to get episodes of it from, let me know.
I can't remembered I remembered almost all the words to the theme song. For some reason, this was my favorite show to watch! I saw it on Ch. 9 in L.A. too. Good times...
Come to think of it, The Funny Company was shown on Sally Starr's Popeye Theater on Channel 6, WFIL (now WPVI) TV in Philadelphia at 4 o'clock. I was in the third grade when I saw this, and I used to sing along with the theme song.
I used to watch this every afternoon after school when I was in the third grade, and I used to sing along with the theme. I haven't seen this cartoon since then, which was back in 1966.
