Gingerbreak, Market, download Rom manager, flash recovery (erase checked), and done. no need for computer.

Now you can download CM7 in the phone and install it via rom manager.

@Robrob007 nope :/ can't be done as shown in other comments GPRS and unstable connection allow for no such thing, bluetooth was non functional as well. And believe it or not there was no settings apk at all in the rom, i checked /system/app for it with terminal... so when you hit menu there was no settings options, otherwise i would have tethered to my phone, however I guess i could have downloaded a tether app, however I have a feeling that wifi didn't work on it.

@mackncheesiest tried but the radio was limited to GPRS which is effectively 1G not even edge and the rom took literally 2 hours to download or more and it kept failing.. so no go on that.
