  • Under FIBA The Official Basketball Rules 2008, rule number 25.2.2. While Moving, to pass or shoot a field goal, the player may jump off a pivot foot and land on one foot or BOTH FEET simultaneously. After that, one foot or both feet may be lifted from the floor but neither foot may be returned to the floor before the ball is released from the hand(s).

  • Pro hopping isn't used too often in the NBA, because after a pro hop its a lot harder to get up, and big men can possibly blocks shots. Also if you hop into someone, you can get called for charge. You move faster with the normal two step. Pro hop is just a maneuver to give you extra distance, so isn't effective in fast breaks or when the paint is crowded by long arms.

  • those all seemed legal to me...

  • for a hop step do you have to come of with two feet or is it okay to take one step then hop land on both feet and shot ? or hop with both feet then take one step and shot ? i get really confused....

  • @noren28

the way a lot of people call it is you can take one "gather step" as you are picking the ball up from the dribble.

  • lol 4 pt play at the end: bucket and 1, rebounds the FT, puts it in again.

  • lol he did travel though. you have to land on both feet. Lebron dribbled, hopped landed 1-2 then layed it in. Classic travel.

  • no alot of people does it, jamal crawford, kobe, still lebron and some others

  • theres pro hops in the nba iverson does it all the time

  • u can only take 1 step and hop he didnt travel the whole video except the second 1 where he spins takes 2 and then hops hes still a beast tho

  • isnt that a carry since he brings it over his shoulders .? correct me if im wrong

  • no it isnt becaus ehe doesnt dribble the ball after it

  • carry = put your hand under the ball and continue dribbling.

if you pick up the ball you can whatever with it. palm it carry it whatever. you already picked it up

  • whats the name of the song?

  • wtf u on about?

    thats not a travel...

he makes his last dribble, holds the ball in his hands makes a jump with both feet equivilent to 2 steps on a layup and puts it up

  • how is that a travel?

  • cuz if you jump stop, both feet have to hit the ground at the same time.

  • @justinjak13 y do u hav to land on both feet at same time ?

  • That's just the rule man.

  • @ninjaghost123321 because if not your just running lol

  • i know how to do this move but does anyone konw a vid that shows to perfect and never get called for a travel cause i basically got it right but i need to know all the rules for it.

  • catch the ball in mid air when your dribbling thenyou haven't taken a pivot so you can pivot or put it up. It is also called a crabwalk if you lift the ball over the defender

  • No is no term called crab walking sorry.

But there is a crab dribble. Posts do it to back up their defender.

  • haha.. someone was trying to prove to me that there is no such thing as a hop step and that it isnt legal in basketball but i proved him wrong... idiots!

  • Those are hop steps.

Everytime I play against the same people they call it a travel. I do it the exact same way as in this video.

  • whats the name of thee song

  • Pro-hops are 'legal' because I use them all the time, it's jumping off your lead foot, usually bringing the ball around, then landing on both feet at the same time, if you land like 1-2, right then left, or left then right, it's a travel, but if you land with both at the same time, it's not a travel.

  • wrong, it's what Pelican 81 said, and you can land 1-2.

if you have control of the ball before you leave the ground it's a travel, you have to catch it mid air.

  • He dribbled before every hopstep. That's legal, dumbass.

  • none of these are travels they are only travels if you leave off one foot and land on both or you land in a one to combo

  • the move from 0:16 to 0:20 was a travel the rest were not. First Supa a jump stop and power dribble are 2 different things and second when you stop your dribble and take a step you cannot jump stop to 2 feet atleast in highschool. There is no such thing as a pro hop either in organized basketball it's called a travel.

  • agreed he Did travel there no doubt.

  • I always get call for traveling-you have to jump right when you dribble right?

  • nah, its usually a right to left jump.. and your jumping off your left foot landing on both

  • yall really kno nothing bout the game of basketball

  • number 23 on the red team is retarded its a jump stop aka pro hop aka power dribble

  • How isn't pro hopping traveling? I can't do it yet.

  • well first you drive then pick up the ball and take a big hop quickly. the hop is only two steps because you dont have 3 feet so its not a travel to hop. anyway its hard to do but ive been working on it. Good luck figuring it out. plus if you jump into the air after the pro hop its not traveling unless you come down and land with the ball.

  • you jump off your lead driving foot.. driving right.. left foot etc. you gotta jump off that one foot and land on both simultaneously

  • who cares. pro hopping is cool.

  • 19:

    sec

lol number 23 on the red team called Travling

  • are u a gronk??

he bounced it and then jumped into the key and shot

  • he took one bounce to get his back to the basket the second hop into the key was done with out another dribble

    so thats a travel

  • no he bounces the ball behind number 50 red

    and then hops

  • Lebron travels every other time he touches the ball. He's a joke.

  • if you play basketball do NOT watch NBA... It is going to kill your play

  • it's called a pro hop because it's technically only allowed in the nba.

  • pro hop is a travel when both feet are put down together on the floor..it is not a travel when you put your foot at least a fraction of a second difference from the pther foot..got it?! it's still like driving the ball..but hopping of course..duh!

  • the one at 38 is a travel cuz he didnt land on both feet..

  • That was a travel...

  • ur such a dum ass ever heard of a pro hop jesus christ u know nothng bout teh game you should stop playing basketet ball now!

  • Retard... he was holding the ball with both hands when he was hopping, so he was travelling..

  • since he dribbled... its not a travel... at least at the High School level... NBA would call it..

  • which clip are you talking about?
