  • hahaha (like the dvd says to)

  • @Redfox0987654321 Ur pretty much killing ur zippo, I use ronson flints and ronsonol lighter fluid (zippo owns that company) and it works great. Flints from a butane lighter tend to break in the zippo and torch fluid turns the inside of the lid black

  • nobody cares about yhour stupit zippo

  • @Jwaz39 you seemed to care enough to post a comment

    FUCKTARD!!!!!!!!!

  • @deletedalien whahahahahaha!!

cheecky that you feel so insecure you need to tell us you dropped that thing on purpose

like we'd care if you didn't :D lol

thanks for the tutorial now I can fix my wick quick!!

  • Very quick and easily presented. I'm no longer going in blind. Thanks!!!!

  • My flint ran out so I used a one from a butane lighter .... Also I put torch fluid in my lighter...will that work?

  • @Redfox0987654321 the flint from a butane lighter such as a BIC lighter will work BUT you need to clip it in half because they are far too long so BONUS you have two flints ;) as far as torch fluid DEFINETLY DO NOT USE THIS! use only zippo lighter fluid, torch fluid burns black When and if it lights up

  • how come my flame wont stay lit? it goes out in about 5 seconds O.o

  • man I have new zippo, but my flame is too big and my whick burns too fast! please tell me what to do!

  • @21LOwLIfE21 move the wick towards the flint wheel that will make a smaller flame ;)

  • i tried i failed :(

  • I have a 5 year old zippo

i replaced the wick and the flint

it is filled with alot of fluid but

it won't light or stay lite

is there something wrong with it

  • @deletedalien My zippo's flame is very huge immediately after re-filling, and after a day or two, it doesn't light up at all. I think it might be leaking, but there are no signs of it. Can you help me out with dis one?

  • @TheProTToType sometimes when you twist the wick too much when you insert it in to your zippo fluid will leak from it (not actual fluid but fumes wich are the flamable part of the fluid) something like that (you get the jist)

anywho look in to that or your wick might need triming

  • lol, by my zippo i need to replace the wick every day, becuz i can't buy a wick in my country in the local store so i need to mak one out of tissue paper...

but now, i've overfilled the zippo and the wick doesn't burn off at all :p

also, it's windproof like the real zippo wick :D

  • My Zippo seem to be very hard to light, like.. to much friction between my flints and my strikewheel. It's a new one and have allways been a bit hard to light.

  • @skatterpro .. slacken off the flint screw slightly... that should do it.

  • @skatterpro just loosen up the flint screw at the botton a little bit and you should be fine

  • @deletedalien ye like that will make the string any less tense

  • I have a problem with my wick.... I trimmed it and now the fire goes out after 2 seconds... Did I trim it wrong?

  • the bottom of my wick got DESTROYED while i tried to insert it through the top, is this okay?

  • @legendofsource thats perfectly fine, the part ruined by replacing the wick wont be lit on fire

  • @legendofsource no you should twist it a little before inserting it, as far as your current wick being permanently damaged? no you can still use it just trimm it when you get a chance

  • can i use an ordinary candle wick?

  • DEFINETLY NOT!!!

  • @deletedalien

    Thanks. Excellent video. Well appreciated.

  • when should you replace the wick?

  • @inkbot2000 when you run out

  • Do I need to remember the order to put the cotton?

  • music is like that of a 70's porn film

  • @binladensassassin ha ha ha ha the song is from the Hackers soundtrack and its called "original bedroom rockers" ha ha h ah ah aha soo yup porn

  • @deletedalien lol didnt expect i'd get that verified after a year

  • @binladensassassin

Sorry dude ive been busy with the whole drifting and other stuff, but im back and trying to get back to zippo tricking

  • why insert it by the top when the dvd says the bottom? i dont see why they should say the bad way to insert it.

  • it probably doesn't matter, but it is easier through the top

  • I´m just taking scissers to cut the wick works great

    @DethTorque

    not realy

but you wont get killed by the zippo company if you´re doing it like this

  • For me, a small pair of wire snips works much better for trimming the wick than fingernail clippers. Clippers seem to fray the end of the wick too much. Plus, with wire snips you can reach farther down into the chimney to trim the wick shorter so your flame isn't as high.

  • Comment removed

  • damn... this is so hard (for me)

  • is it ok to stuff all that cotton there randomly?

  • good video but the music was fucking annoying.

  • @jide1505

Then mute it like i did. Everyone has different genres they like. It's all in the persons right to like what they like. For instance I don't appreciate the potty mouth.

  • @jide1505

Use mute and wash your potty mouth.

  • what do i do if my wick burns very quickly i have a zippo from 1958

  • change the wick its probably to much old

  • agreed if the wick is very old and has been dry all the time is time for a new one

  • @thejustinl1 if i had a zippo from 1958 i wouldn't even be using it.. the oldest i have is early 60's (I forget what year) and i lit it once, but never again, i just think even if there beat up they should not be your carry lighter, i use ones from 90's forwards as my carry zippo's

  • hey thanks for the help!

  • ok thanks i used normal fluid and it works now

  • Wtf... I cant find pliers which tips are small enough to extract the wick ...

  • use pointy nose pliers.. or tweezers!

  • use a surgical clamp its the tool that looks like scissors but intead of teh blade being sharp its flat u can get them at and sporting goods place normally in the fishing section its good for a lot of things

  • Lol ok thx . I found a similar clamp in my mums sewing box . . this video really helped me . so thx

  • oh sorry i took apart my zippo and i realized i used the wrong fluid i tried to use the butane stuff in the can the shoots out and it didnt stay in the lighter

  • you cant use butane fluid it will light up the zippo and start it on fire use lighter fluid wait a week for the other stuff to evaperate then use the lighter fluid

  • i have a zipo the wick is fine its filed with fluid the flint is fine but it wont light can anyone help me?

  • explain further

    no spark?

    flame wont stay lit

    no flame at all?

    poor spark?

    new zippo old zippo?

  • @deletedalien I am having the same issue, for some reason my two zippos just stopped lighting. The flint is sparking fine, I just changed the wick there is fresh fluid and it lit twice, now it will not light until maybe about 15 some flicks of the flint. my thumbs are getting raw from this and it is really fustrating. nothing seems to be out of place..i dont understand.

  • @SmD71nG have you tried pushing the wick so that its closer to the hinge? this makes a taller flame if its too close to the flint wheel you will have a very small flame and may have some problems lighting it up

  • wher do i get the wick?

  • wall mart

  • i dont live in the u,s so we dont have walmarts ;S

  • so... where do u live?

  • UAE(emirates), Dubai .

  • WHOA!!!!

dude you are on your own i have NO FREAKING clue where you can get it there i live in Tijuana Mexico so.. since everything is legal here i can get it in a candy shop if i wanted to

  • hehe thx anyway..

  • how do u get tha wick out of tha little container ??????????

  • @sk8verlife Wha???

  • @deletedalien remove the cotton then pull it out

  • if u zig zag the wick it absorbs and gets more wet by the fluid

  • And this improves on the other video how?

  • thanks, nice vid... greetings from germany

  • hey thanx

guten tag? is that how you say it?

  • yes! guten tag means quite the same like hello... but in germany we say also "hi" "hey" or "moin".. :-D

  • no that means hello

  • just a bit of information - if its a real zippo it should be rayon not cotton [even though they look the same]

  • thanks im going to the store for a few new wicks flints and lighter fuel

  • nice beat!

  • 1:50 o yer

  • Thank You!!!!

  • nice. always replaced it from the bottom, it IS much easier from the top, thank you.

  • Thanks!!! Great vid!

  • uhm...What happends if i lose the flint?! I didnt know it had that little thing until i opened it and it came out! i cant find it anymore! :(

  • noob.

  • Zippo sells them in packs of 5 or something like that. Just go to a smoke shop and they should sell them its like 3 bucks or so

  • they sell it in packs of 6 i bought mine 1:50 euro mine was broken lol

  • lol he dnt no about lighters ahahah

  • I trim the wick with a nail clipper too. works very good.

  • It's been decades since I used a Zippo, as disposable butane lighters ( usually Bic ) do away with all the required matanence normal lighters call for, are smaller to carry, although I did find a nice Ronson butane lighter that looks like one of the older wick lighters from the outside, just slimmer & smaller.

  • good video.

  • where you buy these assesories, walmart, ..????

  • this may sound stupid but y put the wick in from the top insted of the botom???

  • too hard from the bottom, okay if it was reeeeally stiff but it would bend and take more time to put in.

    thats what shee saiid

  • Pushing thru the hole damage the end somewhat, and if you do it from the bottom that end will be the one you light, a dented, spread out wick will get you a more uncontrolled flame.

If you put in wick from top, the not perfect end will be stuck inside the lighter, where it doesn't really matter how it looks.

And of course it's far easier from the top.

  • thx

  • Well done sir. I'd only suggest a few possible changes:

    - Before inserting the wick, clip the tip of it diagonally to get it through the hole more easily.

    - After removing the cotton, I pull at the individual pieces, keeping them as one piece, but 'fluffing' them up bit before reinserting. It seems to hold more fluid that way. (If you ever buy replacement cotton, make sure it's real and not synthetic - that crap won't hold squat!)

    ...continued below...

  • ...continued from above...

    - While everything is apart it's a good time to break out some cotton swabs, wet them with lighter fluid and give the combustion chamber a bit of a "How's your father?" :)

    - If it's an older Zippo there won't be a hole in the felt. In this case the spare flint goes under the felt against the cotton. It's a good idea in any case, that way you won't have any inadvertent (drunken usually) launches. Plus, it impresses the old guys.

  • Thanks Dude! That was just right... I have 2 and I may not have to change the wick based on the vid, just repack it the right way!

  • good choice of song

  • What is the hole in the bottom of the zippo?

  • for flint

  • let's say my lighter's wick has burnt out and i am unable to get a fire lighted from the lighter.....do i straight away replace it or can i still pull out the wick as there is extra on the inside of the lighter where the cotton is

  • Pull out the wick and cut out the used part of wick.

  • i did that....but after i cut the used part the fresh part is like leveled with the nozzle of the lighter.....and i can't perform the twighlight zone trick with it...i've tried to like bend the wick to the 45 degree as usual but the fire just won't burn as its suppose to

  • thanks man helped me heaps and i didn't stuff up my zippo

    thanks =)

  • Thanks Always wanted to know how to put the cotton around the wick.

  • lol thanks i had no idea how 2 do this and didnt want 2 tamper with it 2 much.... but it worked... of course

  • gd way to put it back in i always do it the other way and it takes the piss

  • Cheers man, i had no idea how to change the wick..You saved me from going to a seller and asking him to change it 4 me. And slug me for it!

  • why did he put a flint in the bottom by the felt?

  • because his flint was low so he put there just incase you run out you will have it with you

  • and what if your wick dies before you finish all the fuel?

  • nothing happens

  • that would never happen id put all my money on it

  • the best thing you shoud do then is remove the insert from the case and let all the fluid vaporize for 2-3 days, and then replace the wick and refill the lighter as normal.

  • i thought your table was the wall, and when you put the case on the table, i was like "WTF?!??!?!" haha.

  • ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

  • i lol'd

  • thanks alot for puttin this vid up it helped alot

  • hey when do i know i have to change my wick i already have with my zippo 9 months and sometimes it doesnt work very good i already change the flint but it stills the same it doesnt light the first time i have to do several times till it lights do u think i need to change my wick its already black or what could be the problem ?

  • when there is no wick left.

if its black just pull it up till all of the wick is clean then cut off the black shit.

  • awesome vid

    helped me out

    cheeeeeeers

  • Dont ever let the wick above the windproof grid and you will never need to replace it again, the flame will never reach it and there will be no need to replace it as it wont burn, when its black (dirty), remove it, grab a brush and brush it with water, let it dry and replace it again. 15 years using my zippo and i never had to replace my wick. I thought it was funny that you also save a extra flint in the felt pad, i do the same too

  • you can just "wash" the wick? i had no idea i think im gonna try that some time

  • the music scares me and what scares me even more is that u listen to it

  • ha ha ha ha ha so you obviously haven't seen the movie "hackers"

  • Hackers - Thats it!!!! I've been trying to work out where the hell i recognised this music from!

Thanks for the vid - never had to replace a wick before so very usefull. Cheers

  • Thanks dude toke me 2min to replace

First time had to replace, wick from Dealextreme works perfect and was really cheap

  • doesn't really matter what kind of lighter fluid you use, as long as it's for lighters...I prefer Ronsonol cause it burns cleaner. Also, if you don't mess with your wick and just let it sit there (even when it's black), you'll more than likely never have to change it out.

  • ??????

Ronson burns with a black little stripe at the top and also if the wick is black (very black) it means its not burning propperly, now i know it may not affect a regular lighter user but for someone who does lightertricks its a BIG thing, cause it wont light on the first try

  • I've been doing lighter tricks for years, and it doesn't bother me any. guess it's personal choice =)

  • wow thank you. great vid. my cotton is getting old and nasty..can I just replace it with cotton balls?

  • hmmm i wanna say yes BUT it will not work as well, my best suggestion is send it to Zippoland they will fix it for free, just make sure to specify your problem (cotton doesnt hold fluid)

  • Zippoland you say?

  • havnt got a spare wick and ive made mince meat out of the wick in there now is it possible to pull the wick throuh the hole and just cut of the burnt wick

  • It DEFINETLY is posible to pull the wick trough the top and just trim the burnt part, remember you have 3" of with in the lighter

  • dude what do u mean zig zag the wick between the cotton?

  • great video man! thank you! does zippos need any other maintenance?

  • hmm... lets see...

    Wick Check

    Flint Check

    Cotton Check

    Fluid Check

So.. nope not really thats it

  • how do u no how to put the cotton back in 'correctly'?

  • O_o

well... you just insert it back in. thats it,

i mean there are supposed to be 6 cotton balls, just replace all six, 2 on the really tight side and the other 4 on the large side making sure you zig zag the wick trough them,

    like the vid says easy.

  • bahahah same i though u where supposed too

  • yeah it happens

actually you can pull the wick BUT GENTLY if you just need to trim it, you have 3 inches of wick when its new

  • omg my lil cuz pulled out my wick on my first zippo and you helped me so fucking much ty

  • Always a pleasure to help the fellow pyro's and zippo tricksters :)

  • cool bro. very helpful

  • thank you thank you thank you!! I love my zippo!

  • hey man...my zippos flint is out..an i dont know how to change it an im afraid not to ruin my lighter. Can you help me out please?

  • dude tottaly easy

just replace it trough the bottom where there is a flat head screw

  • Very good video! Thanks. You helped me get my zippo working again in no-time. Great job.

  • not a big fan of the music like the first guy, but hey, at least the video works and teachs some of us a leson. :-)

  • it is inposible for me to put the wick in the top it took 5 min till i did it in 5 sec on the bottum

  • dude ur supposed to put the cotton back in the same way u took it out

  • oh i folowed your instructions and iot works now...thx

  • mine doesnt work

  • thanks for the video man

  • gj, tnx

  • thnx. i appreciate man.

  • thanxx

  • great instructional vid man. What is your background music too, cuz that is some sweet stuff.
