  • They all keyed up!

  • My uncle is doug dillard right there on the right =)

  • wow These the same guys from the Andy Griffith Show? Love the song! Thanks for the post!

  • YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWW!!!!! Im sittin' here beating on my desk and stomping with everyone looking at me like i've gone insane lol

  • Love these guys.

  • Awesome.

  • I think this was written by Mitch Jayne, ( the bass player)

  • There was no fiddle player on the Andy Griffith Show.

  • The Andy Griffith show was the best. Good clean fun on TV. These guys, along with Barny, Floyd, Ernest T Bass, and Otis, gave the show some extra kick !! Too bad we don't have quality TV anymore.

  • @dougfrombaltimore Absolutely right, Doug. They just don't make good shows like that anymore. The Dillards, Ernest T. Bass, Gomer & Guber, etc. so many good characters on that show. It was good clean clever entertainment. I could watch these old reruns all the time even though I know most of them by heart. RN

  • I could listen to this all day i reckon

  • I'm proud to live in Taney County!

  • Right On!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is crazy....I was just looking for some good ole bluegrass. This is the first video I clicked on, and it happens to be taken where I am from, Oakboro, NC. Never thought I would run into little old Oakboro on Youtube.

  • Who is playing the mandolin/fiddle? Where's Dean??

  • when they sing it on The Andy Griffith Show it sounds better to me

  • of course it does, that was 40 years ago.....lol

  • go vols!! derek dooley

  • That was a great show. My daughter and I were there. I first saw The Dillards in person back in 70 or 71 when they played at In The Alley in Escondido, CA. Watched them many times over the years. Glad to see they made it to the Bluegrass Hall of Fame last year. Wish I could have been there.

  • @JimHady i think the southern part f missouri

  • Where are those folks from? I mean the Dillards. I love loved their music for years. Just wasnt how many originals still left.

  • Southern Missouri, in the Ozarks.

  • The Dillards.. ( Darlins) are originally from South of Salem Missouri in the Ozark Mtns.

  • In downtown Spruce Pine, NC there is a plaque saying "Home of the Dillards, who played as the Darling family, on the Andy Griffith Show"

Supposedly, Ernest T was from nearby Beauladean....... as the mountains Andy Taylor referred to were the Blue Ridge mountains around Boone, Spruce Pine, & Linville Falls....

  • @The fictional Darlins may have been from Spruce Pine NC the Dillards as a group are from Salem Mo. I am personal friends with Mitch Jayne the bass player that was on the series with the rest of them he lives here in southern Mo .. has been from Mo his whole life The rest of the Dillards that played the Darlins on tv ARe from Salem MO.

  • According to the Mayberry museum in Mount Airy, The Darlings were from Spruce Pine, and Ernest T Bass was from Beauladean.......

  • I met those guys when I was Police Chief.....at the Mayberry reunion

  • ...the boys make life better and this world sweeter, we are very blessed to have them and their music...

  • ah boy can my uncle doug play...yes he's my real uncle

  • He's your uncle??? he's my friend....we have spent time together talkin' an pickin...

  • Thaaaaaank youuuu! for posting the "boys"... I first saw them in Pasadena, California, in the mid 60's and fell in love with them... still am. Great to know they're still going strong.

  • Beautiful Pickin Guys!!!!

  • Brilliant, gifted musicians!

  • Mr Pyle passed away in 1997.

  • Thanks Jeandepaul for being so dumb but I'm sure you already knew this!

  • They haven't lost the fire one bit.

  • Can anyone confirm that Dean Webb no longer plays 'cos he's gone deaf?? be grateful for a response. Thanks.

  • no I cannot confirm anything. Hope this was of no help whatsoever. :-)

  • i agree with you totally!! wish the show was still going!!

  • still sound as good as the andy griffith show!!!

  • Check out their version of " The Darling Boys ". You can still see all four of them playing together. It's a song they wrote about their days as " the Darlings " on the Andy Griffith show. Great song and great performance. Just type in, " The Darling Boys ".

  • doug is doing a hell of a job when you account for his age and the head injury he recieved in a fall a few years back thanks for putting on great videos like this

  • They had a family show for years in Branson. Are they still doing it or have they retired?

  • Gee, I wonder why Dean isn't playing with them??? Interesting... Maybe someone ought to look into that....

  • I saw the Rodney and Doug Dillard in Springfield IL about 3 years ago and at that time they said that Dean couldn't play any more. I couldn't remember what they said but my husband said that he remembers that Dean Webb had gone deaf.

  • Are they ever in NC?

  • The Dillards>You

  • Just the best...

  • Great song, the first time I heard it was on the Andy Griffith show when I was a boy back in the early 90s. it took me forever to find this song.

  • I saw the Dillards at Disneyland when I was just a kid. I think it was one of the best shows I have ever seen. I wish it was on tape.

  • I remember my dad singing this song when I was little. Thanks for posting. Awesome!
