uh i was hoping it would work but it didn't...it still won't read or recognize any disk i put in can you help me you think? i may have forgoten to "run as admin" does that matter so much? it deleted the "lower filter" lol is there anything else i can do do you think? i been tryin to play diablo2 and a bunch of other games i got but i can't install them... hit me back please 8*)

i had same problem but to upper or lower filters if u don't see any try this

turn pc off open up your box unplug cords in cd/dvd drive turn back then back off

plug the cords back in turn your pc back and let it install the drivers that how i fixed my :) tell me if it worked for u

Well I dont have Upperfilters listed, have also tried a laser cleaning disk and the piece of shit still will not read a data or cd. Am at the point where I am about to smash the freaking laptop at a brick wall. Oh and one more thing, I am NEVER buying a TOSHIBA laptop ever again, cost me more to repair it than it was to buy.... Oh and one more thing, Toshiba are the worst company to deal with, Toshiba you have made the "Shit List"

I didn't have to delete the LowerFilters and it works fine just by the deleting UpperFilters. So just try deleting upper and if it still doesn't work, delete both. Besides that, this video is very helpful, thanks man.

2:55. I recommend creating a restore point for the drive before deleting. I don't particularly know how to do it, but it ensures that, incase anything goes wrong, it will not be lost forever. I've read it's risky to just delete it without having it backed up.

I have to say THANK YOU for your information - I also spent several hours trying to fix this problem and finally gave up until tonight. My internet security subscription needed renewing and I thought I was going to have replace my drive. I did have to go back in and remove the lowerfilters a second time - I'm wondering if I will have to do this every time I want to use the drive? This fixed my issue. I think virtual drives were the cause of the problem, i'm not sure. Note: I didn't have the upfilters, only the lowerfilters. I deleted the lower filters and rebooted, everything worked perfectly.
