Wonderful video, sorry one little thing, music is very bad and annoying. Soo very interesting. I am American, trained in French techiques. I am awed by the Japanese "respect" for cooking and for food! The French would call this compose, but this goes way beyond that word. Thank you VERY much for the vid. I am inspired. honestly this would not fill me up wtf and i am not a huge eater but its like a small serving of rice and a few sprinkles of meat and a couple veggies ? They are cute and pretty but I at least need a salad, some fruit and like some crackers or soup or something for lunch I would starve on these!

you can it's very easy not hard to make ^^ and plus you can customize it to your taste buds you can even use left overs from dinner or so and eat them at work or school or at trips or anywhere you will take ur bento and it can be fun to learn and make your own ^-^ for sure have the basic colors for a balance bento: red, green, yellow, black, and white

if you like but again you can custom made yours to your taste buds

Sometimes they will wrap an onigiri or sandwich in plastic wrap to keep it seperate from the other flavours.

If you mean the box itself, most are sealed with an elastic strap to keep the lid on. Then you carry it in a small draw string bag or zippy bag. Sometimes they use colourful cloth to fold around the box called a Furoshiki.

@LouEngine justbento is a great place to start if you can't read Japanese. It's really not that hard, I do a small traditional bento for my son a few days a week.

There is few time in the morning for all people, of couce for Japanese mothers.

They usually got up very early at 5 or 6, to make Bento for thir children or thir husbunt, even though not a few womans have thir own job. It's very hard work making Bento, but Japanese people usualy make Bento for thir family, why? I think it means a kind of Love for children or spouse.When I was a child, my mom ( whose name is mami!) often made Chara Ben for me. I thank a lot for her.

@wongtailoong1 During the hot summer in Japan, I fill rice into a Bento box the night before. The next morning I fill rest of the space with other stuffs. By the lunch time, the rice get defrost and ready to eat. The frozen rice keeps the temperature cool in the Bento box. Otherwise there are some other ways to avoid the Bento goes bad. You can place an ice bag under the Bento box, or there are Bento boxes in Japan that have a function of thermostat.

Awsome! I like to see the many different kinds and themes of bento. It is mostly all art with not only the food, but the containers as well. I am also glad to see there are more "manlier" portions than I have seen before and some with fried food opposed to mostly raw or lightly cooked meats, fish and vegetables. I would love the rice regardless though. Also the chara bento was neat. And the music was nice as well.
