Excellent choice of song...one of my favorite bands. I think it's very interesting taking old dance forms and applying them to this music. I started composing a waltz, actually, to see if I could take that into metal.

Anyway...keep it up, you fit it very well to the music!!

Also, a question: Can belly dancing be done to any music, or do you pick songs for a certain timing/tempo/rhythm/etc?

I can bellydance to any music at all, though of course when it is my choice I pick only songs I enjoy.

So I think it can be done to any music regardless of timing/tempo/rhythm/etc, but I know that for choreography purposes it is usually easier to use songs that work with the 8-count that dancers use. I wouldn't know specifics because I never consciously count music, I simply "feel" it. I've never choreographed anything so I haven't needed it yet.

Thanks! Yes, I definitely let go of my posture when I'm trying to focus on other things. It's more of a matter of working on it in the context of the dance, as is everything else... otherwise I have it down.

Regarding classes, I was able to attend belly dance classes (tribal style) for only about 5 months of the 9 or 10 that I have been dancing, but the place I was going to was too far for me.

I have been out of classes for some months now, and I am actively looking for professional instruction. I may have found a closer place, but I've been playing phone tag with the dance studio so I don't know if I'll be able to get in.
