Yes, he needs to bend the tang of the blade to a higher angle at least another 15°. The way it is now is great for a 10 year old girl/boy.

Nice and sharp, but the angle is set wrong and he has to bend too much. Try doing an acre like that and you'd be hospitalised!

You should be almost upright and your back should get a gentle stretch that's actually good for it.
