  • @HERDEZ2077 - thx- but if ya scroll down a bit...you'll see i already found it. DEF a great tune

  • I was born in 1992 in Chicago, so I know I wouldn't cherish this kind of music as a teen growing up in the 90s going to parties/clubs. But I do remember listening to tunes like this at house parties that my parents went to... love 90's music!

  • I just spent the last two days looking for this song it's my fav we had DaJae at our club in San bernardino ca back in 94

  • @mvilla36 Luv this track

  • Deepest of the Deep HOUSE..... Love it!

  • Jazz sample from Hoagy Carmichael & His Orchestra - Barnacle Bill, The Sailor

  • @statenhal FOUND it! it was The Goodmen-"give it up" thx for the suggestion tho

  • house party crews back in the 90 's SEXX ADIXX LOS ANGELES 1992

  • I remember hearing "U Got Me Up" on my radio dial KPWR 106 (when it used to be cool). But it's a very special version. They mixed a part of Cajmere's Underground Goodies Mix with E-Smoove's version to make a completely new remix. It's very hard to describe, but maybe I could do a rough song edit to show you what I mean. The only person who might know about it is DJ Richard Humpty Vision.

  • My extended fam just danced like crazy to this at our Labor Day BBQ at a forest preserve today! I haven't seen the 35+ yr old folks move like that in a minute! Good times! Chi-Town!

  • @IcebergSlim1978

I bet that was fun lol!!! Those are the BEST times and these are the soundtracks of our lives, love em : ) This 52 yr old be killin it when I hear it too lol.

  • It might very well be 'capricorn 20hz'

  • Party Girl !!! Cool Track !!!

  • i've been lookin for what i THOUGHT was a version of this record, with an extended drumline intro... like a marchingband type intro. released right around the same time. anyone know the track?

  • @TheDizvidz try Doop-Doop

  • @statenhal - Doop Doop close sounding as well, but not it either. The track i'm lookin for has NOTHING but drumline drums in the intro...Thanks for the suggestion tho

  • @statenhal gabin - du duap

  • @TheDizvidz ---check out G-Swing Records, thats where I get most of my swing house...

  • @TheDizvidz Deepest of the Deep HOUSE... I love it!

  • @TheDizvidz THE NAME OF THE SONG YOUR LOOKING FOR IS CALLED (GIVE IT UP BY THE GOOD MEN) NOT SURE IF THATS THE ONE YOUR LOOKING FOR BUT ITS A GOOD ONE.

  • viiiiinnyl..dancing the night away!!what beautiful energy that was back in the days...nice time to grow in nyc..respect to all my house heads!!

  • is this from chicago?

  • @mexman000 Yes Absolutely!

  • Comment removed

  • @mexman000 Of course this is from Chicago! Cajual Records run by none other than Mr. Curtis Jones aka Cajmere aka Green Velvet. His contributions to the scene are legendary. This was an amazing time for house music.

  • OMFG! i've been looking for this since mid '90's. i didn't know the name or artist, i only remember the beat fromt he club and dancing to this. The search is over!! I just happened to click on this. !!! woot!

  • aaaagh! yes! finally found this song. fell in love with it in the movie Party Girl!

  • Love this tune,I still play @ the clubs in LA.One of my favorites of all time.Miss the 90s

  • @alexrico24 Family Groove, wonder where and what Jacquline is doing these days!

  • That BOMB !!!!

  • Old school house and that whole scene was the best it will EVER be and it will never be that way again. People would be pumpin on the dancefloor to the deepest trax Chicago had to offer - dryhumping is NOT dancing!! It took a lot more than fist pumping to do a beat justice. Maybe I'm an old man now but the crap these kids dry hump to is absolute rubbish!! Somewhere along the line style and flavor was traded for a $100 tattoo print t-shirt, a faux hawk and a bassline that will distort everyt

  • @spyder1107 Man i couldn't agree with you more! Very well put!

  • @spyder1107

Telling the truth doesn't make you an old man.

It's a fact the early '90s were the golden age for house music

All this commercialized, repetitive, overproduced crap they play at clubs these days makes me understand why drugs are so popular in the club scene: you need them to endure the music

You even hear that crap on the radio in between Gaga and Rihanna all day, so why even bother going to a club to hear the same shit again?

  • If you remember this one, I'm sure you'll remember "Who Dares to Believe in Me" by the Believers - "I Believe" by the Happy Clappers

...we all know nothing will touch Farley JMF or Marshall Jefferson!!

  • sounds similar to

"Yolanda Be Cool & Dcup - We No Speak Americano"

  • Heh-heh-HELLOOOOOO! This was the song that turned me on to house. Cajmere is my gateway drug. ;)

  • I lost about 3 lbs on this song @ Traxx in Atlanta back in the day off this darn song!!! I miss the 90's house music!

  • Takes Me back To The Paradox & Hammer Jacks In Baltimore1994&1995!!

  • Oh GOD!!! It was the SHELTER - ELIXIR one two punch!! Then finish up at CROBAR!!! ...the good ole days! Suburbanite frat boys and sorority trixies standing in line at THE DRINK. The first DRINK not the second one. ...and there was sometimes a KABOOM in there too!!! LOL!!! People droppin like flies G'd out... Good times!!!

  • @spyder1107 God i miss those many mornings at the Shelter

  • WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

  • omg I feel so old LOL LOVE THIS SONG

  • I love visiting these pages with the bomb trax where it's all playas and not haters. You can just 'feel' the fact that all you posters know your shit and have been 'round the block a few times

  • YESSSS OVAH

  • DJ's still play this song in SF. Makes the crowd go wild...especially the ones that remember the 90's L.A. House scene :)

  • WERQQQQQQQQ Dajae WERQQQQQ BISHESSSSS!!!!!

  • does not suck

  • nothing like Chicago house...raised on it,,,still to this day at any giving night out when they drop this in the club the crowd goes crazy

  • These underground goodie mixes are brilliant and sound just as good now as they did back in the 90's, my friend plays BRIGHTER DAYS a lot in a big club in Liverpool.

  • This is da shit....viva da 90's house music!

  • Nataaaashaaaa!

  • ahh I miss ths old music

  • such a happy happy tune.......

  • I wish there were more house tracks with jazzy elements.

  • There was another song that sounded very similar to this one that had a jazz beat. Does anyone know which one it could be? It was almost identical to this one! Hope somebody knows.

  • @discharmingman maybe Doop - Doop? At least to me that was a song that always made me think of u got me up...

  • @statenhal That's it!!! Thanks man!!!!!!! This is exactly it!!!! I wonder if there were any other mixes that sounded like this. Does anyone know?

  • @statenhal Its Jungle Jazz

  • @discharmingman probably not what you're thinking of, but "Party Happening People" by Deee-Lite is reminiscent of this...

  • @discharmingman there was a cajmere song just called 'keep movin' that was very similar to this

  • @discharmingman PJ's project ....."Cum ON" Detroit underground ...its here on youtube....

  • @discharmingman maybe Brighter Days is the song you're thinking about

  • @discharmingman I think you're talking about Sidney Perry - You Can't Run Away

  • @discharmingman might have been the remix of Entertainer I think Lil Louis did it . If not i know he use to play it all the time.

  • @discharmingman also the gumbo mix of 100% Pure Love by Crystal Waters is similar

  • @discharmingman or you might be talking about Dj Sneak - Muted Jazz

  • @discharmingman .....Dajae U Got Me Up (Dannie Tan Club Mix)

  • @discharmingman hot as hell by drop the lime perhaps? Or is it We Speak No Americano by Yolanda Be Cool

  • @discharmingman i think what you are looking for is called "Horny" by Cajmere. Check it out.

  • @discharmingman

I can remember vaguely there was another track on maybe cajual records that sounded like this. Will post back if I can remmeber what it was. It wasn't Doop.

  • I'm happy to see a few comments on here recognizing the barnacle bill the sailor tune by Bix Beiderbecke, a well known jazz artist in the late 20's and 30's. I have waited since high school to know the name of this tune...!!!! (Since 1993!!)

  • Never appreciated this song until the other day. I was dancing and the bit that starts at 2:03 made me damn near lose my mind!

  • excellente!

  • i am ol skool and all i can say iz "YEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS"

  • classic

  • THIS WHEN IT WAS SAFE TO GO TO HOUSE PARTIES!!!!! I REALLY MISS THE OLD DAYS!!!!

  • man....this is tear forming.

you wanna know whats sad though? some DKS dj,band,or whateer came out with a mix using this same sample...ad what a horrible depressing piece of doodoo with wings that is.....this generation doesnt understand what house is...they dont feel it. shit when's the last time you went to a "recent" party and actually seen people dancing? and not just dry humping on the dance floor, or chicks basically shaking their ass. im talking getting down....?

    i thought so.

  • 90s are gone but those memories will live in my heart forever

  • This song re-defined Chicago House in the early 90's. An all-time classic!

  • Man, it redefined more than just that.... it help set up a ton of Baltimore club music samples as well.

  • 10 years for me - i finally got the iphone and a shazaam to find out what it was ;^)

  • @ChiBoompty AMEN BROTHER!!!!!

  • Nah....There is a track (I HAD it on wax-perhaps another remix of this?) that uses the same sample but it's chopped differently (much better). It's a bit more staccato with the sample. Anyone?

I HEARD that it's the Derrick Carter Remix but I don't know about that...

  • It's on the remix double 12" that came out a few months after this one originally dropped. I still have two copies of all of them.

  • @djfakt called the "Lost mix"

  • I managed to find this on Acquisition - and get this children: that's an actual song sample...points up the yin to anyone who can identify it......

  • Bix Beiderbecke, "Barnacle Bill the Sailor."

He was my greatgranddad and the DJ that mixed this was actually good enough to get a hold of the family to ask our blessing even though the song isn't copyrighted.

  • WOW, that is a good guy. Go 'head Cajmere! tonyblair999 is right on the nose. I got goosebumps hearing this again.

  • Okay, So. . . . .like I can't find this song ANYWHERE!!!! I've tried, God knows I have. PLEASE tell me where I can get it. It seems downloading it is impossible. A little help. Thanks.

  • HOLY. FUCK. I've been looking for this since it came out. I forgot about it for a few years until I stumbled upon an old Barnacle Bill the Sailor song, heard the hook, and it's been ten years of blind searching.

I grew up in Chicago, and house music was everywhere and it was easy to lose songs like this before the internet.

    Thanks again.

  • YEA!!!! I been looking for this tune for a while. I just never knew the Artist name or title. Thanks for posting it up!! AWESOME!!

  • Omg!!!!! This is the soundtrack to my life Cajmere made us out out of REAL dancers in Chicago at 16 sneaking onto the clubs just the dance and he would turn it out all night. Hail to the late 90's.

It has not progressed. (I started in 91') and I see the new children throwing themselves on the floor and doing things that I wasn't taught to do; (I vogue butchqueen vogue fem, Old, New Way and Performance.) The new children have no idea what it means to Vogue.

    Ms. Dutchess 3/09

  • yes girl serve these youngins

  • mix it with horny then u got a ho down...

  • Always wished I could take this back to the days of Swing music in the 30's and see the reaction! An AMAZING song!!

  • Thanks! Made me remember the Generator in Chi :D

  • It's music people vogued to. They had vogue wars in the West Village on the pier at the end of Christopher Street in NYC. Anyone know what voguing has evolved into?

  • That's a good question. They still hold the balls, and I still see it occasionally in clubs, but only ever one person at a time. I'm going to mostly soulful house nights so maybe it's not quite the right crowd, but I think it still has a home here. The first page of the latest issue of Time Out NY this week (3/5-11/09) has an interview with the member of a gay "house" up in Harlem. It's still going on.

  • Found ITTHANKYOU USED to get down to this :P
