in five to 7 years we will probably have comercial holograms, then in 3 years or so we would have interactive holograms so this is only usefull for the blind
ppl u are not thinking of future.... watch your LCD monitor of (1680 X 1050px in my case) now imagine all this 1.7 millon of pixels changing shape in front of you in colours.
The posibilities are unlimited.. for example.. someone touch his screen and you see the change in your monitor.. like touching you...
there are working braille displays smaller than this one.. but what about the colors.. yes well there are no colors on braille displays.. oh wait there are none needed. hmm let me think of other uses.... .......... .... ... ........ ....... well i'll comment here if i think of some.
Exactly my first thought when watching this. I had a similar idea some 15+ years ago (though without the fancy light effects), and discussed it with a blind guy: He said such devices were available at that time, but they were just way too expensive.
I'd like to see this kind of technology get as cheap as webcams are today -- then you'll see a ton of fancy gadgets for the blind or vision impaired. :-D
Another use for this technology would be a projector screen. you have the projector projecting onto a screen that changes depending on what is being projected. Explosions and stuff would actually rise out of the screen and people's faces could be the shape of the actor. It would be so immersive. My uncle is blind and I think this technology is brilliant. Some form of tactile tv display would be amazing
Blind people will be able to instant message each other!

Size. Game over. (Looks great though + the music + the bullshit being said through the video; this is tripping 21st century style...)

Read mychemromance4's comment. Also, please don't swear. It is very impolite and to some, annoying.

Finally! I wanted to invent something like this three or four years ago, and well, I was just a high school gamer kid. Yay stereotypes.
