  • Here, Peter Jackson's alright on the guitar like!!!

  • For me, ppl who criticize things like this diesn't matter cause at the end of the day, they couldn't play like Don Ross even if they practised and tried hard. So, who cares what they think? Attention seekers.

  • This is definitely my favorite Don Ross piece, he is the master!

  • I love the continuity in this piece, I hate the continuity that he plays. :P

  • youtube's full of douchbags who criticise videos like this. But you just listen to it, and it rocks the hell out of the crap they're saying! Music transcends petty disregards. Just listen, and dig it, and stop bitchin'! planetary love.

  • Who cares about the mistakes, Don transmits much more emotion than most of technically superior guitar players. If I want perfection in the arrangements I listen to computer music.

  • he is awsome.

  • What is the tuning on this?

  • @jcisaacs The tuning is

    B-A-D-A-S-S

  • Are the inch long nails a prerequisite for being awesome?

  • amazing! :)

  • X people that dislike are Y

  • Fuck, I hate this song...it makes me want to cry. It's so beautifully done.

  • i love the fooling around with harmonics. beautiful.

  • Don Ross is Outstanding.

  • Don Ross is outstanding.

  • Im sure their not fingernails.... probably finger-picks

  • @rockguy1771

    They're ping pong balls! (Honestly)

  • @ZebMacahan "Hi there. They're not ping pong balls. I buy glue-on nails and but TWO on each finger (one on top of the other) to make them extra strong." - Don Ross, from his Klimbim video here on the CandyRat channel.

  • @jkshoujk Thx alot!

  • @ZebMacahan

Don uses basic fake nails.. The brand is from KISS, and he uses the Active Oval... I have used these and they do work great....You can get them at Wal-Mart I know

  • @fngrstyl

Sweet! How long do they last before you have to replace them?

  • @ZebMacahan

A Very long time. I have never wore them out. They grow with your nail like acrylics. once they start working their way down the nail, I would replace them. Also, I pretty sure these are the same nails, Craig D'Andrea, Antoine Dufour use. I think I seen Andy Mckee with one on his thumb nail too

  • does this ever make a mistake? wish i could play with such precision.

  • @georgejonez He makes plenty of mistakes he just keeps playing so you never know. hat what i do keep playing and know one knows the difference.

  • i love how the two highest rated comments both have to do with vaginas

  • @Wcburg1 LOL come on, thumbs up if you also think that vaginas are the only thing that pushes us men forward :P

  • @Wcburg1 not anymore. =/

  • @Wcburg1 very hypocritical. : )

  • WTF who cares about his nails? listen to the damn music.

  • How could any one of those 11 people down this video? They must be mentally challenged surely. One of Don's best songs, so underrated.

  • There are some great riffs in this song. What a performance too.

  • Comment removed

  • @CovertJazz or... as he has said, he buys acrylic nails.

  • @harrubacool there are other ways to fake it, especially faked fingernails will break during nplaying..

  • fabuleux de beauté

  • did he sharpen his nails into like. pics? o.o

  • @sum41Rck

    yes

its actually very common...i do it.

  • @sum41Rck rofl no not in this case those are acrylic nails, you know like nail extensions

  • @MasterMcG

your right, his are, i thought they were just sharpened but they are acrylic. but there are some people that do sharpen their nails

  • @sum41Rck He's using acrylic finger nail picks.

  • Absolutely beautiful and inspirational! 2:35 gets me everytime

  • too bad popular music is about singing badly, instead of talent and brilliance like this

  • he was the product of god mating with a guitar.

  • Brilliant!

  • Poxa... este som é tudo que preciso ... um monento de PAZ.

  • 5:16

I thought I was losing it. His right hand vanished for a second XD

  • Loved it.

  • Holy shitoci mushrooms.

  • Don Ross' music has always put me into my happy place. I've been listening to him since I was 14 years old and now that I'm almost 25 it still moves me just as much. THANK YOU DON ROSS FOR YOUR WONDERFUL MUSIC.

  • LOL:-))

  • This is gorgeous! The flow if it reminds me of a Pierre Bensusan tune! Needless to say, I love it. Good work Don!

  • Wow...

  • Pure Brilliance !!!

  • This has to be my favorite Don song.

A few years ago I saw one of his shows in The Netherlands, and I requested this song and Don was really nice and played it for me, it was really, really beautiful.

  • @Goof995 yeah, definitely my favorite don ross tune i've heard (technically not a song cuz there's no words :-P

  • @boxcarguy07 Songs can have no words, and still be a song. The basics of a song are a rhythm, a melody and chords, essentially. He could hum the tune, and it would still be a song.

  • @honuecker sorry, but there needs to be singing for it to be a song.

  • @boxcarguy07 so what is it then? strange child!!

    It's a master piece!!

  • @boxcarguy07 its impossible to be that dumb how are you accomplishing that?

  • @murda1991 omg type "song" into google, the first thing that comes up is: "In music, a song is a composition that contains vocal parts ("lyrics") that are performed ("sung"), commonly accompanied by musical instruments." I study music in university; I think I know what I am talking about.

  • @boxcarguy07 I stand corrected obviously i'm the ignorant dumbass I retract all statements lol

  • @murda1991 i wonder if the thought of searching intrumental song ever came into his head

  • @boxcarguy07 you may know what you are talking about but that doesn't change the fact that youre a douche. <3

  • @boxcarguy07 Yes and everything in wikipedia is an absolute facts.

  • @boxcarguy07 i guess beethoven never wrote any songs then stupid shit

  • wow... i stand in pure awe.. great work.

  • don came out of his mother with a guitar in his hand!!!!

  • @asstaxer6286 Don came out of a guitar with a guitar in his hand.

  • @asstaxer6286 poor mother :(

  • @asstaxer6286 ...sadly, she died from the damages sustained during his birthing.

  • @asstaxer6286 Correction, Don came out of a guitar, with his mother in his hand... This guy was Born for music.

  • @asstaxer6286 that must have been uncomfortable for everyone involved

  • @asstaxer6286 So did everyone else who with rat candy records

  • This song has such a sunshiny feel to it.. it's the only way I can describe it.. it makes me feel good.. Love this man's guitar playing !

  • I don't think Don sounds anything like Andy, two completely different kinds of fingerstyle.

  • Why was this video marked as 'private' for so long?

  • Love the strumming around 5:00 this mans music is a huge inspiration for guys like myself trying to improve at fingerstyle.

  • @IIIISolidSnakeIIII this somehow sounds like perfect variation of fingerstyle

  • this is so powerful in so many ways. its so great.

  • how is it gimmicky?

  • Your right. He is better then Michael Hedges.

  • he doesnt have to be.

    michael hedges is michael hedges

    and

    don ross is don ross

    and

you are forgiven for thinking everyone needs to be like michael hedges, or anyone for that matter, to be worth listening to

    just be yourself

  • Don! Its the big bald guy in Halifax! Hope to see you playing around here again soon! Mashed with no gravy!!

  • beautiful,

  • man...i forgot i favorite'd this 2 years ago. coming back to it, its such an adventure to watch and I love how he builds up the ending so much.

  • that is so interesting how he also uses his thumb to hold down the string, you can see it at 2:01 - 2:04

  • he does it alot. not just in this song

  • @SlipKnoTtater Yeah it's not the most common technique but it's certainly not new or revolutionary. A popular example of someone who used his thumb to fret would be Jimi Hendrix.

  • does anybody know if this performance is on a dvd somewhere? Or is it an internet-only video?

  • Hagrid toca violão!! O.o

  • aHSuahUaHA

  • This song takes you on a journey, i love it

  • I love the way he plays tap harmonics at 1:40

  • Impresionante!

  • he's married, so i'm sure he gets laid.

  • he's married....so probably not!! :-P

  • LOL!

  • this is amazing

  • "musical brain"........your finger rocks in the bed. ohhhhhhhhh "fantastic"

  • is very hard but is very got play

  • he could do some serious vaginal damage with those fingernails..

  • wow

  • this is the first time i've seen this guy and as talented as he is and how much i respect him, i very much doubt he gets laid, so i wouldn't worry about it lol (this is to labiasofjustice btw)

  • Surprisingly enough he has a pretty hot wife!! And she rocks the fuck out of the guitar and sings too. They do shows together! haha

  • Surprisingly? This man is a God! He can have whoever he wants ;)

  • @labiasofjustice LOL your comment is great given your name

  • @labiasofjustice LOL:-)))

  • @labiasofjustice not only that, but the guitar was also perfectly tuned! :P

  • @Nordiclegion In what tuning exactly? x )

  • @labiasofjustice ahahahahahah cumm t ven?

  • @labiasofjustice But he can do some massive circulation with his left =p

  • 1:40 stfu!!! insane

  • 5:16....... amzing ......!!!!

  • for you haters out there...don ross taught andy mckee everything he knows.

  • Comment removed

  • Andy is a copycat eh?

  • Comment removed

  • oooooooooh BAD comment. andy is the farthest thing from a copycat i've ever seen. of course he's been influenced, but then again everyone has. i'm glad to see you recant your statement, but still. if you understand andy's music in the slightest you'll see that he has a much more textual and visual feel to his songs than any other candyrat artist does.

i absolutely love almost every candyrat artist. Don, Craig, and Antoine are all way up there. But Mckee will always be my fav.

  • Antoine will always be my favorite :3.

  • omg at 3.52 I think he made a slight mistake! Hes rubbish!

  • Rubbish eh, get a life, this guy is amazing

  • It was a joke you unbelieveable fool.

  • you try it then

  • bloody hell it was a joke you absolute pillock

  • That progression around 2:00 was so zepplin feelin.

    Awesome as usual

  • actually thinking about growing my nails or finding a nice set of acrylics. that multiple strumming gives the guitars sound so much more. this song is also very fun to learn :D

  • Sorry guys, i was in fact being an idiot. I somehow mixed up his song brooke's waltz (which is in 3/4 as far as i remember (and waltz definitely implies 3/4 time sig.)) with this song.. Very embarassing, I blame too much uni work and wine! My not so smart arse has been taught. I'm trying to learn tochigi, really addictive and actually kind of manageable.. love his music

  • i dont know where this is or who the people are....but to me it seems like they shouldnt even be there.....i clapped louder than the whole crew....come on guys...did this song not move your entire soul??????? don your my hero and inspiration

  • regarding his "nails" - are those freedompicks? because if so, i'm inclined to order me a package and see if it works for me. i'm growing really tired of always grooming my nails just to be able to play decently and then having them break at the next "best" opportunity :-/

  • ping pong balls

  • yeah, i heard about that before, didn't michael hedges originally come up with that idea? hmh... any tips on how to go about trying this? what kind of glue to use etc ? (i imagine you'd have to cut them to size an then glue them to your nails, right?)

  • just go to any pharmacy and get the fake nail kits- same thing...the kits come with all sizes of nails and the crazy glue- that's all they r..then the real art is shaping them to give you good tone- that is if you have the technique to be able to use them..they stay on for about 8-10 days but then must be pulled off or they get pretty damaged...after a while of playing, your nails get very weak because you have to rip them off and it pulls some of the nail with it. doesn't hurt though

  • or you can just grow out your own nails to a certain point that fits your comfort and put on nail hardener. I do it, I have no problem, the occasional but thats why i cut them once they start getting dangerously long

  • "Hi thereabout the nails. Theyre not ping pong ballsI try to get them done professionally when I can at a nail salon, but I also carry a nail kit that I buy at Shoppers Drug Mart or Rite Aid or whatever and glue on a double thickness of pre-formed plastic nail. Works well!" -DR

He DOES NOT use ping pong balls.

  • damn his fingernails are like built-in picks, great tune!

  • Nah, he uses acrylic nails, or so I've heard. They don't look totally natural in a lot of the videos of him I've see.

  • I'm gonna be abrasive..

This is not a march as it's in 4/4!

But who gives a shizzle, lovely song!

  • @maugbj

I hope you're not serious and realize the difference between using "March" as part of a song name, as opposed to a categorization of the music...

  • its a joke - no need to take it so seriously, considering he complimented the song

  • @ginsengaddict

That's why I commented, to make sure it was indeed a joke. You can never be sure on the internet :P

  • You gotta be kiddin me, right? You shouldn't even be speaking about it if you're not at his level. He COMPOSES music. I think he'd know what a march is..derrr

  • whinge whine blah - chances are maugbj is in a marching band and knows EXACTLY what a "march" is.. get your facts straught ;-)

  • shit don are you trying to make a grown man cry...lol..cheers!! lovely song

  • Everyone in that crowd should be kicked in the dick, i wouldve been clappin so hard at the end I'd sprain both my arms

  • nah they dont have this song. awell ill jst lern it of by ear thanx tho

  • God!

  • Dang darn garmit, Donatello Ross is amazing.

  • don ross, and andy mckee are the gods of acoustic guitar

  • does anyone know where i can a tab for this song, im in love lol but seriusly

  • Check the info mate.

"Don Ross Tabs available at gobyfish.comicbooks"

  • they sell tabs on the candyrat website

  • me love u long time

  • i love this song. is there tabs for this particular song?

  • Every song I hear from Don Ross is better than the last. That trend continue for long... can it?

  • love u hagrid

  • lol.

  • lawl

  • Hagrid? I always thought of Peter Jackson.

But when you mention it.....Hehehe ;-)

  • why doesnt this video have millions and millions of views.

  • Nobody knows. It's a very strange phenomenon. This is spectacular music, and yet videos like Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" are the most viewed on YouTube.

    True injustice.

  • sadly not alot of people know him by his name they could just recognize a few of his songs..if you havent checked out Don Ross-Afraid to Dance i would definately recommend it if you liked this :D Don Ross=God of Acoustic Guitar

  • the dolts call this "elevator music"

  • its always the shit that's popular but personally, i'd hate it if this awesome music became extremely popular, would just spoil it.

  • 1 music hero of our time.

  • that harmonics part at around 1:22 is crazy

  • he makes it look so easy!

  • there's so much musicality in his songs most of his riffs could be your typical acoustic song if you just picked them apart i bet you could even make a whole album based on riffs from one song

  • He's a Beast dudes the man's got a great mind
