She is ADORABLE... I am 15 weeks pregnant & just has a CVS that confirmed my little girl has Down Syndrome, everyone keeps telling me all the negatives of having a baby with DS and Ive really had to search to find a realistic idea of what is in store.. your daughter has just lifted some weight from my heart and brought a smile to my face. Thankyou!
@SuperSchmibs Congratulations!! If you need anything, please send me a note. ide be thrilled to hook you up with some online groups that really get it. Have you seen Kelle Hamptons blog? Her little girl Nella just turned one, so MUCH closer to your baby in age. Nella is doing so well, and her mom takes tons of pics, a great way to see into the world of DS. Best of luck to you, what will you name her?
What an inspiration beautiful CIARRA is. My darling daughter , 2 year old Poppy has downs syndrome and her speech is a big worry to us. Its lovely to see how well Ciarra is communiting and enjoying life! Was a joy to watch.THANKS. ( i would ignore the negative comment about her clothes-that was uncalled for and im sure no one else interseted in how well she was doing would have even looked at what she was wearing) XX
I have a 5 year old son with Down Syndrome. His name is Ben. My dream is that he will be able to speak as clearly as Ciarra and to have such great language abilities. Please share what books you may have read or what techniques you used to help your beautiful, amazing, smart daughter! My email is belinda.gibeau@yahoo.com. I am so inspired!!
I think it's great that not only does she know she has Down Syndrome, but she also knows a bunch of other kids with Down Syndrome too. So when she notices things that make her different from typical kids, she can look at other DS kids and realize those things are just part of DS.
She's so adorable, She's very intelligent and sweet, whatever it is your doing that's bringing her confidence and she speaking so well Keep it up, the main thing that caught my attetion in this video was the fact that she knows and understands about her diagnosis, don't let her get discouraged and give up on things that she wants in life because of this. I have mild CP and mild CAPD and I have pretty well over come my CAPD but my CP still gives me fits and times and I get very discouraged!
Well look what just popped up on my suggested watching list. :o) Ciarra's always been a superstar, but this is just plain fun to watch. Love the chatter and talk about school and what she loves. I could watch hours of it! Braska and KiKi were all over it! You rock, C!
One thing that irks me about this video is not because of the topic itself (Down's Syndrome), but because it's a video of a little girl in an overly revealing nightgown sitting on her bed! No offense, but I wouldn't show a video of my nine-year-old daughter on the Internet in front of millions of strangers like that...
@MsBranDEEE If you didn't write it I wouldn't notice. Also, the video isn't about a nightgown and bed if you are familiar about Down Syndrome. It is an amazing video.
My baby sister is 18 months old, she was diagnosed with Down Syndrome at birth.
I was afraid she wouldn't talk (my mom is much more relaxed about it, very "it will happen on its own time") but she started working with a speech therapist last month, and I'll hope she'll be as good as Ciarra one day (:
By the way, Marion (my sis) is so flexible, when I saw Ciarra put her feet behind her head, I thought I saw Marion lol.
I have a little sister with DS and I can't go a day without seeing her. She is the light of my life, she is the greatest person in the world. I think these people should be looked at the same as all of us because, really, there is no difference. Sure, their brain may work slower, and they make take longer and harder work to learn something, but theres one thing that people need to keep in mind:
This Little Girl Is Adorable! I Have Kids Like This In My School, And I Am Going To Volinteer To Help Them If They Need Extra Help. I Think These Kids Who Have Down Syndrome Are Beautiful In Every Way. I Know A Girl Who Has Down Syndrome And She Is Soo Sweet! Sometimes, I See People Laughing At Them. And All I Think In My Mind, They Are Just Like Us Deep Inside.
@Brady12PatriotsFreak we normal people must have a lot of jealoues to this kind of special child...because if this people died with special needs, they would probably have space in heaven and can really enter the paradise..unlike us who have normal thiinking, we have a two choices hell or heaven depends on the good and bad deeds we make while still leaving..we normal will be judge according to our doings...but people with specials need will live happily in paradise forever...we 2b jealous to them
Keep up the great work. I hope my videos of my son Ray-Man are encouraging for all DS parents. His speech and vocabulary is very, very good, and his ability to remember his lines in this play extraordinary. Your daughter is on a similar path. Best wishes from our family.
She is a brilliant girl. my neighbor has Ds and I love her to death. She is happy and loves writing songs and singing. It hurts me to know kids make fun of her, but she ignores them and continues her life like a happy, bright girl.
@NinaCatalani5 boys tend to talk later than girls, keep talking with him, he will probably surprise you one day. I REALLY recommend Communicating partners..its free..just try it.
@h5e5l5l5o5 there are no real "levels" of Ds, you either have it or you dont. How the gene expresses itself, and where in the body, is unique in each person. Ciarra got extraordinarily lucky in the fact that she can communicate quite well.
wow, what a smart girl you have. LOL she cracks me up too.. eleventeen, that was soo cute and funny. She has such a vibrate personality, she seems like a great conversationalist. I would love talking with this child. and just ignore some of the ignorant comments on here, people say anything when they are anonnymous, but when they are face to face with a parent or someone with downs syndrom, I'm sure it would be a different story. You must be so proud of her progress, good for Ciarra. :o)
I do have to have to admit she is not much different from the typical 9 year old, and definitely have more friends than me when I was 9 and more than my 8 year old niece, I can only recall about 6 friends that I had when I was 9, shes very social for her age, your doing a super job mom keep up the great work :-) BTW I bet all the other girls in her class gets soooo jealous cause shes sooo beautiful!
I am a teacher of students with disabilities. I have a student who has down syndrome and I tell you what, this little boy has LITERALLY changed my life. I feel so blessed to be his teacher. He has some really great challenges (more so than most kids) including type I diabetes and PTSD from being abused as a toddler before being adopted by his amazing parents. What a blessing these special children are to all of us.
@BadHairsRevenge1981 he is so lucky to have you. Thanks, on behalf of "our family" the Ds community is a huge one, and we sure appreciate people like you.

my son is blind and has severe autism, and he is non verbal... you should be so proud of this wonderful child and her ability to talk, shes a very smart lil girl...
Ciarra is so clever. My friend has a 4 year old with down syndrome and she has began talking a little bit. Such a sweetie!
'This video really shows all parents out there that their downs baby will be able to live a pretty much normal life. My friend always worries about this, so will definatly be showing her this :)
(and I just love 'eleventeen' lol. So adorable!!!)
I have a son who is 15 with downs, but unfortunately non-verbal. You Ciarra is a doll and I'm sure I'm not the only parent who appreciates this video. Thank you!
please, tell me who is your SPL.I found your video because I am trying to figure out a way to get my daughter to enunciate her words. She is 13 and I am highly impressed with your 9 year olds enunciation. It is awesome, whatever you are doing, keep doing it!!
@thelongwintersroad hi there, it really is just practice, and a good ST. Ours has been with her since Kindergarten, and they have a great relationship. Have you seen Communicating Partners? I highly recommend them!
@ciarrasmom Thanks for this video and comment! :) I am trying to decide between becoming an OT or ST and am having a hard time picking. ST requires slightly longer at school, but this video makes me want ST more - that your daughter has been with the same ST since kindergarten is awesome!
i wish i knew someone with downs syndrome.. there all so nice and compasionate.. like really when have you ever met a mean person who has downs? by the way, youre daughter is very smart and adorable! she sure does have lots of friends doesnt she? :) be careful for when she gets older, i bet all the boys will be after her <3
is is so beautiful and smart, a credit to u , i had a daughter with ds that past away with heart problems 20 years ago , she was my life and there isn't a day my heart don't break thinking about her , x
the people that are posting rude comments should be ashamed of themself ....i am in middle school and my elective is to help these kids ....they are very smart and nice people just because they dont seem normal doesnt mean they aren nice smart people
what a brave and pretty smart daughter you have :) you must be really proud of her, whether she has Down Syndrome or not :) she is adorable, i want to help people with mental diseases that's why i am attending to study medical pedagogy to work later on in some kind of workplaces for people with mental diseases, to help them to live in the society properly like everyone else: so for you daughter i wish her the best and may god bless her !!
She is soooooo precious. A real angel. No behavioral flaws. Not like us so called normal people that can be devious and so full of sin and blemish. Maybe down syndrome people are the intended perfect people that somehow slipped out of heaven as God's way for showing us what being perfect really is all about.
she is so beautiful and so smart , u must be so proud of her, my daughter was born with downs but sadly past away in 1989 with heart problems aged 18 months , she was the joy of my life.... <3
WOw she is very vocal and smart. I work with Special needs kids at an elementary school and the 3 children that have Downs aren't very vocal at all. She must be very high functioning.
I think that sums up the power of a story like this one. We all need to do our part to help these kids. They are people and I cant stand when people make fun of them.
Hi, I'm 15 and I have been babysitting two boys with Down Syndrome for a couple years now. They are both nine. But neither of them have the speech that your daughter has. But they're getting there fortunately! I just wanted to say that your daughter is absolutely beautiful. I can see her having a bright future :)
She is sooo sweet. My little girl is 11 now. The joy of our lives. We can not imagine life without her and I know it's the same at your home. God bless.
What an inspiring young lady Ciarra is & Mommy youve had an amazing input well done.... as a mum of a child with DS whose child passed on I have to say, this brought a tear to the eye, how much I miss my daughter Kendal, that I"d hoped one day would be just like Ciarra. The more children like Ciarra there are in the word the more blessed we are, when I was at school we never saw anyone with DS they weren't allowed to go to school thank goodness that has changed. She's lovely, way to go Ciarra x
Our son is four with Down Syndrome. She is a wonderful talker! That must be some buddy walk! LOL We don't get Barney or Dora but that is way cool. Did you use a certain system to help her with her speech? That seems to be our biggest concern right now. I love every minute with him as Im sure you do with your daughter! :) Thanks for sharing!
This is sickening, girls with retardation should be put in concentration camps. It is bad enough that she is a woman, but that she also has mental problems. Bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch. Retards such as this "thing" only defile and debuatch the society we live, and will only slow us down as a human race. They all deserve to burn in hell for an eternity for making us regular men have to cope with this plague spreading rapidly throughout civilization. Burn.
@joeyfasthandz shes more intelgent then you. youre nothing but a close minded jerk who needs a reality check.. the fact that a 13 year old is telling you this is just sad..
she is so dang precious :) thank you so much for sharing her :) i love all the light and happiness that shines in her face! my daughter also has DS . she recently turned 7, and though she keeps me on my toes, i love every minute of it. thanks again for this fun video :)
aww she is very intelligent. God bless her. My boy is 3 and has down syndrome. @ ciarrasmom : She is so intelligent . God bless her. my 3 years old son has DS
he is very smart but his speech is delay. i'm wondering if you could recomend me the name of speech therapist you have for your daughter..... it would be a great favour .... my greatest concern is my son's speech and language development.
Why do all tards with downs have the same facial features.... you can spot one from a mile away... tempting to snipe their heads off. all they do is grow up to mooch of their parents anyway.. a great contribution to society there.. gas em i say
Wow. This girl is very smart. And she knows and remembers a lot of things. My nephew has down syndrome and hes only a year and 5 months. I'm excited to see what has to become of him. Thank you for this video.
Oh, your girl is so cute. And I hope my daughter Jolina (1) will talk in a few years like your angel. But...wait... my 4 Year old girl talks and talks, so two girls do blablabla all around the day would my ears blead.
Aw, Ciarra is adorable. She's so smart and positive! And definitely on her way to success in the future. You are blessed to have such a lovely daughter :)
I have a little sister with Down's Syndrome. She is 24 now so not so little anymore. I think it is a shame that everyone cannot have a person close to them in their life that has DS. People with DS are the most loving, kind, compasionate people on the earth. I am truely lucky to be able to experience the day to day life of these special people.
wow my younger sister is 3 and i am 12 kira (my younger sister) only can say yes rarr mama dada. she does this weird thing which we call shaky face and pretends to sing the abc's song ..... i was wondering when did ciara start talking
@mstarebare she was using a few words by one, and really talking a lot by 3 or so. You might look inot Communicating Partners online, they have some great suggestions. have FUN with her.
@ElleCabrera it means she plays Doctor, with a toy Dr kit and a real stethoscope, etc. She wants to be a vet someday, so the cats and dogs get treated too. For the record, everyone stays dressed. ;)
What an angel, God bless her she is so cute! She is very intelligent and you should be proud for giving her the quality of life you have. You are my hero Ciarra!!!!!!!!!!!
A very moving video, this has reminded me of the kindness that is so often lacking in people nowadays. Ciarra is lucky to have such caring people in her life and it has obviously helped make her in to the happy kid she is :)
Dear Ciarra's mom, I must thank you, with all my heart, for posting this video. Our daughter was born a couple of days ago with the Down syndrome. She's our first child, after years of fertility treatment, and our world shattered.
Looking at your beautiful daughter, so cute and full of life, is helping us to become whole again. We're still picking up the pieces of what we thought our life would be like and rearranging them into a new picture. And thanks to you, this picture isn't sad anymore.
With all due respect, bingdman and everyone else, respectfully consider the inability to conceive as a direction from your bodies to adopt a child rather than produce a child.
Your daughter is beautiful and so articulate. I have a little boy named Baily with Down Syndrome and his speech is his only weakness. I wish I could talk to him the way you can talk to your daughter. I so want to understand all the jokes he tells us that he thinks are so funny or better understand his wants. You are very blessed. God bless your family ~ Proud mommy in KY
Honestly, i cried a little. and im really 17. most 17 year olds would make fun of people who have these conditions. i have aspearger's syndrome. so i kno how it feels to have mental issues. i wish her the best of luck in the future and my hart goes out 2 her :.)

@thelongwintersroad hi there, it really is just practice, and a good ST. Ours has been with her since Kindergarten, and they have a great relationship. Have you seen Communicating Partners? I highly recommend them!
ciarrasmom 1 year ago
@ciarrasmom Thanks for this video and comment! :) I am trying to decide between becoming an OT or ST and am having a hard time picking. ST requires slightly longer at school, but this video makes me want ST more - that your daughter has been with the same ST since kindergarten is awesome!

She is soooooo precious. A real angel. No behavioral flaws. Not like us so called normal people that can be devious and so full of sin and blemish. Maybe down syndrome people are the intended perfect people that somehow slipped out of heaven as God's way for showing us what being perfect really is all about.

Burn.

Snooch1984 1 year ago
Dear Ciarra's mom, I must thank you, with all my heart, for posting this video. Our daughter was born a couple of days ago with the Down syndrome. She's our first child, after years of fertility treatment, and our world shattered.
Looking at your beautiful daughter, so cute and full of life, is helping us to become whole again. We're still picking up the pieces of what we thought our life would be like and rearranging them into a new picture. And thanks to you, this picture isn't sad anymore.
