Where did the stage director get these "period" costumes -- from late 19th-century Russia, perhaps??

@nightwisper Thanks. I'm not a fashion maven. But why??? What the hell was the director thinking? Chanel's sober '50s bear absolutely no discernible relationship to the mythological setting of the opera. It's just misplaced "cleverness" and "originality."
