Alright, lemme just throw this out there... I'm a vocalist myself, and I know the importance of technique and natural tone quality and range in music... but let's face it, for most of my generation, only one of these singers writes songs that rip into your heart and emotions, only one is an amazing performer, and only one is and will remain one of pop music's most iconic figures... and that one woman is Christina Aguilera. I rest my case.
Jessica may not tend sing as harsh as Christina sometimes does, but in my opinion, Christina has the much better voice. Christina can belt like nobody else, and her hardly ever used whistle register is great. Jessica's voice at 0:20 was clearly a falsetto. Not whistle. Plus, I don't think that her voice is that different from many other country singers. They both are great singers, but I think that Christina takes the cake. :)

She can belt higher than Christina. and she can do falsetto/whistle just as high as Christina. The problem is that her TECHNIQUE is actually 10 x worse than Christina's. and even with that worse technique, she can still reach the higher notes and sustain them for longer.

@samiam30th OK, but this is about HIGH notes. and in the arena of HIGH NOTES, Jessica wins by default considering that her tessitura is twice as high as Christina's. I'm not saying that makes Jessica a better singer, it just makes her a soprano with a super-high tessitura. Christina's placement sits much, much lower than Jessica's. That's not an opinion, it's a fact.

That's not because she's a better singer, or because she's a better vocal technician...it's because her tessitura is naturally WAY higher than Christina's. If her tessitura was as deep as Christina's, no way would she be able to get so high with such a terrible technique.

Her placement and tessitura are much higher, which is why she can get away with belting and sustaining higher notes, despite the fact that she's utilizing a technique that makes them much higher to reach. That's just a testament to the fact that her upper register is naturally much broader. & Jessica didn't get booed bc of her singing.

Jessica may have her tone issue and a some kinks in her lower register but since we are talking belting the girl will open her mouth wide and substain naturally with vibrato and not look in pain like Christina sometimes does which her fans just think she feelin the music but its really staining.
All that aside I like both girls for different reason the voice are diiferent textures the one pro is the other one cons.
U say the truth. Christina is good but her fans are blinded by her "powerhouse" low chest tone. Are high notes most notebly her high chest or head notes are thin as flat and scratchy and have no vibrato. Most often she will add rifts to overcompensate or skip the notes cause she cant. She has already strained her vocal to where she had to cancel part of her tour.
One trick Christina uses to preserve her voice is where she turns up her microphone so that she doesn't have to push as hard when she belts but it has the same effect. she's not yelling she just has a louder microphone. She could do it with a regular microphone she would just have to tire out her voice faster.
Christina Aguilera is better stylistically but in terms of vocal strength and power, Jessica mops the floor with her. In her chest voice, Xtina can't hold a note half as long as Jessica can without having to throw in those vocal gymnastics. However, if Jessica didn't have a vibrato I would think she was screaming but there's no way Xtina could do what Jessica does on 'Take My Breath Away', 'Angels', or 'With You'. They're just very different vocalists.

Christina use scream and in most case it's showing off. At least Jessica doesn't need "grimaces" in her singing. Jessica's voice is much sweeter and she is way more beautiful woman. Both singers have great voices but to me Christina's voice sounds better. Sometimes when Jessica belts it kinda gives me one of those wretched feelings like when someone scratches their nails on a chalkboard.
Christina has a voice that's more like the 'popular' style now. So more people are going to like her. I personally like Jessica's style. It's prettier, and more relatable. It's easy to sing along with someone who actually sings the MELODY of the song instead of riffing constantly. I understand that those riffs are difficult to do well, and I agree that Christina has an incredible, rare gift of a voice, but she's too much for me sometimes. More complicated doesn't always translate to better.
I don't like Christina's version of At Last I think she over does it, but I think she has an amazing voice, I love Jessica Simpson's Voice too, but Even I can admit it gets annoying after a couple of songs

@JoshLNeville Christina's technique is much healthier than Jessica's, that's why. Jessica has a far bigger upper-register than Christina NATURALLY though. Her placement and tessitura are much higher, which is why she can get away with belting and sustaining higher notes, despite the fact that she's utilizing a technique that makes them much higher to reach. That's just a testament to the fact that her upper register is naturally much broader. & Jessica didn't get booed bc of her singing.

@JoshLNeville Lol, ofcos Christ sounds a lot clearer than Jess, becos Christ doesn't sustain the note. Jess takes one breath, then flows the lyric and hits the note at last breath, that's why. One thing, Christ sounds alot clearer becos she is clipsyncing on live show! I love Christ too, but please don't appraise her too high.

You know what when britney, christina, jessica, and mandy came out the 2 that stood out to me was Chris and Jess. I was like damn I get 2 girls my age that can blow anyone out the water. Jess needs to drop her damn dad and pick up new management.. I can almost say the same for Chris. But Jess should be beyond where she is, she should be considered one of the top vocalist and believe me I am a HUGE Xtina fan, but I know Jess is just as great!

christina because, when she's belting it's clear and her face is still calm. But You will notice Jessica's face having a really hard time. Moreover Christina's Whistle voice is much much clearer and it's amazingggg..
Christina can belt much better than Jessica haha you might think that Jessica's voice is higher than christina because her voice is not as big and powerful as Christina's. Jessica's voice is in high pitch but Christina is not as pitchy as Jessica but still can sing Really high.

Idiots. Christina isn't screaming, it's called belting. Jessica's voice has almost no emotion and when she sings it looks like she's going to explode because she pushes so hard to sound powerful.

@SpunkStalker101 Nah, Jessica just has a worse technique. But Jessica would be the more powerful singer with the proper technique. She already has more power on the upper belt (F5 and above)...Christina's voice SHRINKS up there.

@yahkneenah yeah. Christina has slightly better technique than Jessica, but Jessica's tessitura is naturally higher, so she gets away with belting higher notes.

Jess has an incredible chest voice; she hits the note perfectly, and sustained them, truly a vocal singer. Christ is using technical to make the song sound good but most of her notes are flat, whistle, nasal, head voices, especially her notes really short. Peace

alright let's get something clear, christina is NOT screaming, she's belting perfectly. personally I think she's way better than Jessica. Jessica does have a nice voice but not as good as LEGENDTINA.

They are both incredibly talented! Christina is probably a little better. I do think that Jessica does have it harder though. She's not all that well known for her big voice. Still they are both fantastic, love them both!

@MrxCasz that´s is not true, jessica has a 3.5 octaves vocal range and christina has a 4 octaves vocal range, also christina high notes are more clear and powerful, christina has a powerful voice than jessica´s, jessica has to make a huge effort ti hit above c5 and christina can hit a d5 ,e5 and f5 with relative easily, and that is just in full voice, if we talk about falsetto and whistle jessica´s is so weak, and christina is clear, powerful and beatuful, jessica is good but christina is

Jessica may have her tone issue and a some kinks in her lower register but since we are talking belting the girl will open her mouth wide and substain naturally with vibrato and not look in pain like Christina sometimes does which her fans just think she feelin the music but its really staining.
All that aside I like both girls for different reason the voice are diiferent textures the one pro is the other one cons.

U say the truth. Christina is good but her fans are blinded by her "powerhouse" low chest tone. Are high notes most notebly her high chest or head notes are thin as flat and scratchy and have no vibrato. Most often she will add rifts to overcompensate or skip the notes cause she cant. She has already strained her vocal to where she had to cancel part of her tour.

One trick Christina uses to preserve her voice is where she turns up her microphone so that she doesn't have to push as hard when she belts but it has the same effect. she's not yelling she just has a louder microphone. She could do it with a regular microphone she would just have to tire out her voice faster.

Christina Aguilera is better stylistically but in terms of vocal strength and power, Jessica mops the floor with her. In her chest voice, Xtina can't hold a note half as long as Jessica can without having to throw in those vocal gymnastics. However, if Jessica didn't have a vibrato I would think she was screaming but there's no way Xtina could do what Jessica does on 'Take My Breath Away', 'Angels', or 'With You'. They're just very different vocalists.

Christina use scream and in most case it's showing off. At least Jessica doesn't need "grimaces" in her singing. Jessica's voice is much sweeter and she is way more beautiful woman. Anyway I respect them both cause they try to sing various musical genres (Pop, Rock, R'N'B, Blues, Soul, Jazz, Dance, Funk, Country etc)

Both singers have great voices but to me Christina's voice sounds better. Sometimes when Jessica belts it kinda gives me one of those wretched feelings like when someone scratches their nails on a chalkboard.

Christina has a voice that's more like the 'popular' style now. So more people are going to like her. I personally like Jessica's style. It's prettier, and more relatable. It's easy to sing along with someone who actually sings the MELODY of the song instead of riffing constantly. I understand that those riffs are difficult to do well, and I agree that Christina has an incredible, rare gift of a voice, but she's too much for me sometimes. More complicated doesn't always translate to better.

@xoxosegen I agree completely. That's what bothers me about her, the fact that she's always trying to hit these high notes and hold long notes and it just doesn't work out. Since she can't do it, she shouldn't try it live because it just fails miserably and makes her look bad.

bothe girls have pipes but lets put it this way, christina sings with more soul, but she doesn't have much range compared to jess. jess can go as high as she wants without struggling that much, but jess doesn't have the soul that christina has in her voice. some people are correct, if only jess was given a chance to show her real talent and if her effin dad didn't handle her career and only if he didn't push jess to do pop i think jess is on top of the game. when she came out she was better than
