  • I know the song in German but I can't recall the lyrics.

  • o.o I more than just like it's phonetics.

  • First impression is that it`s very difficult to learn, but i kinda like its phonetics.

  • yea it is fun to sing

  • Yeah, this is a fun song to sing in Inuktitut! :D

  • I love this song! I'm interested in learning about Inuit culture and traditions but unfortunately little reliable information on learning Inuktitut exists in the occident.

  • @1Valdenstorm Just go to Nunavut! :P

  • The only word I catched was Iglu :D

Hehe, who doesn't love a good stereotype now and then!!

  • That is so so cool !! Keep it up Kivalirmiut. We need to hear more songs here!!

  • Thank you for your work on giving us the word for this song. I think this language is absolutely fascinating. It has some guttural sounds that make is so singing. May this language last forever.

  • love the song! nalligijara!

  • Sorry for my quitupplepost youtube seams to have a rather dire bug.

  • What a happy song! I'm from Baffin my pretty home but I love Igloolik/Arctic Bay dialect!

People are interested in our culture and language and that's how you talk to them? It's embarracing. You should be proud to tell of our heritage, not discourage people from asking about it!

  • i lovee this song! i also lovee drum dancing!! i come form up north so yeah but i came down to ontario so yeah! lovee the song!

  • I think first nations languages are beautiful!

  • How can i know the lyrics in the inuktitut silabary ?

  • go... think about what you said, fix it, come bak then insult someone.... c'mon man, you gonna say shit, say it correctly!

  • Nunali means suck me in our Mi'kmaw Language.

  • holy shit y isnt this the worlds hardest language it look intensely difficult to learn, at least pronounce

  • I dont speak any of the native languages but by listning it sounds Kalaallisut is way harder...if u want the worlds hardest language then in my opinion its the click languages in africa

  • I kind of feel awful to admit it, but that comment was hilarious XD

  • uh... what gives you the idea that they're all drunk?

and how do you think that they have taken this route?

  • because they are trapped between the worst of two world: merely surviving like their ancestors is not a way of living, yet by the way people and the governement treat them, in addition of the harsh temperatures of the north that makes agriculture and all impossible, they cannot live like people do in the south...

And because they are far away from everything and because they have nothing to do in a frozen open space, well they do what they can to distract themselves... I guess <_<

  • fuck you bitch wimp...inuk proof mother fuckers u n all the retards who post bull shit words

  • same comment as above... go bak, look at what you said and fix.. then go... in fact... write on a piece of paper and burn it.......... dumbass....

  • Hi!

I'm from America. This means that I'm ignorant. You know what that means? That means it's officially my sworn duty to post a comment on Youtube videos expressing this on every language that I've never heard of before, including this one. I understand its from a northern Canadian territory. Is this spoken by Inuits? Maybe I dialect...darn my ignorance. I'm trying damn it! Anyway, I've got more to go and I'll see some of you there.

  • u must be very stuped indeed if u didnt look on wikipedia first haha ignorant or not u are stuped

  • @akumie

Im not stupid, I didnt have to look at the "wikipedia" because i know this language and i talk inuk all the time. But, i think your stupid because you dont know this language we speak, i also think ur stupid by telling to look at wikipedia when i know how to speak INUKTITUT! who's stupid anyone?

  • @Candice14X3 I don't think akumie was even talking to you. It seems she or he was responding to TheBudman770.

  • @akumie "Stuped"?

  • Qamani'tuaq

  • this is an okay song..........

  • i thought there are 7 communities in kivalliq.

Arviat, Whale Cove, Rankin Inlet, Chesterfield Inlet, Coral Harbour, Baker Lake, Repulse Bay.......and aivilik??? lol

saved the best for last (Y) friendliest town in kivalliq or even Nunavut

  • Aiviilit shouldn't be there :S

  • Puvirnituq, Qc. include my town. :D

  • lmao loser.... lol don't you know what the kivalliq is???

  • no, loser, i dont know who or what kivallik is.

  • Rankin was the first word they say out of all communitys lol.

  • Kool

Are there any web sites out there where we can learn inuktitut with audio !

    Thank you

  • yes but not for small children who thinks a language is cool but then studies it for a week and gives up

  • What type of attitude is this ???

One word learned is better than none at all !

Do not shoot at the ones who are interested !

  • sorry ust that most people who comment on youtube are non nativies who say the language looks cool but then gives up after a week or just learn the language for fun, never speaks it or promotes the language to others an then the language is doomed in the end

  • @hanspelmo

its not an attitude.. its a LANGUAGE.

  • I think he meant it towards 99anguk.... lol

  • @Candice14X3 Yeah, hanspelmo wasn't talking about the language when he or she said "What type of attitude is this???"

  • If not instead a language, a still a good one.

  • I was replying to the post that said what sort of attitude is this… the posts seam to come back out of order… orather in linear order I made the mistake of assuming the posts where threaded. :–| Which would actually make sense compared to this. :–\

  • Awesome! I'd love to learn one of the arctic languages one day. (Already learning Norwegian, not that that counts.)

Just two questions. What's the song about? And what's the difference between the K and Q pronunciations?

  • u know there are 3 regions in nunavut: kivalliq, kitirmiut, and baffin (or qikiktaaluk).

this song is about kivalliq, and its communities. the difference between K and Q pronunciation is you use 'K' when apelled in English, and 'Q' when you use Inuktitut sylabics.

  • sounds... XD

    what does it mean anyway?

  • It's a region in Nunavut and they're all the communities in that region. And Arviat's the best!!!

  • thanks a lot, i would have never guessed

  • ELI, don't be so self absorbed!!! ahah jk i agree :)

  • Lol thanks for sharing~! (Qujannamiik!) It's so cool... taha.

Hmm... seeing as I didn't understand a single word of the song besides "Susannah" ... I need to learn more Inuktitut. ^^' lol.

  • Thanks for sharing

  • I know what Arviat means but that's about it. mega awesome.

  • YOU ROCK!! lol
