@paladindarknite Oh please, don't bore me with that shit. Muay Thai is the sport variant of the regional Muay Boran Styles from Thailand (Korat, Chaiya etc). And Muay Boran was created from Krabi Krabong (A Thai weapons martial art) which was used in warfare. Sure all styles are similar, but when you look at it, Burma stole from Thailand, if you can't beat them, join them ;)
Rambaa Sompet is an example of this he is a former Lumpinee stadium champ so he has the strikes and the takedown defense you need in Lethwei, Muay Thai, Predal Serey but he also has a killer guard so he can fight off his back.
You can tell they got the robotic movements from light sparing the fighters from Thailand are more technical the fighters from Myanmar and Cambodia should go to Thailand and fight @ Lumpinee and Rajadamnern to prove themselves and get better competion because the Thais' have made it their national sport for so long they have perfected things. Since grappling is a part of it I think they all SE Asian boxers wether it be from Myanmar, Thailand, or Cambodia can adapt to Brazilian jiu-jitsu well.
I suggest Myanmar Lethwei Fighters should challenge MMA fighters to fight in MMA rules or UFC rules like other fighters accept Myanmar Boxers in Myanmar Lethwei rule.
i noticed they use dirty boxing too, but can you beleive some chinese guy said that muay thai is better than burmese boxing because they have better equipment and when burma and thailand fight thailand sends their least trained fighter. thats not true now is it because lethwei is one of the most brutal boxing styles ive ever seen.
@mtross70 i been living in thai and bhurma (myanmar) and muay thai is a compilation of lethwei (burmese boxin) and bokator( cambodian boxing). in bhurma almost dotn use the kicks. have mroe takedown and use the head too. muay thai evolution to use the kicks cos them start to use gloves. so burmese boxers have better boxing skills.
@axtur32 Muay Bama has always been about the boxing since ancient times (its recorded) and is far more agressive. Thai style is far more controlled and mainly about waiting for the right opportunity to finish them off in one blow (but depends on which Thai style as there are many) Muay kaad chuak is Identicle to lethwei but was banned in Thailand years ago. I say bring back muay kaad chuak and let them duke it out with lethwei. So much more entertaining than sports muay thai lol
Burmese will claim that muay thai came from burma while Cambodians will claim that muay thai came from Cambodia. Thai's claim that the traditional Thai boxing was invented by Thais to fight back against the Burmese during their constant invasions and then later on promoted it as a sport. Overall, it's obvious that all 3 countries' sport version of boxing have similar styles and nobody really knows. They can only speculate.
Recently Burmese boxers win The Thai Boxers in Yangon City. remarkably those Burmerse boxers are win. its awosome for real. just forget the Bakaw thai chapmpenzzzzzy.
As everyone known, Burmese traditional boxing is the real source of the Muay Thai. In 18 century, Burma had a strongest army in the entire region. They were bad and went to Thailand to kill the Thai King. War took 3 years and finally they killed the Thai King. During that time, some Burmese soldiers got married with Thai girls. Some of those Burmese soldiers stayed back in Thailand when their military went back to Burma after they killed Thai King.
Some thought Muay Thai is better but the truth is Muay Thai is originally came from those Burmese soldiers who stayed back in Thailand. Thai people say not strong enough as Burmese boxing. I've been to Burma and seen traditional boxer in real world. They train like you wouldn't believe. They kick approximately 8 feet tall saw off coconut tree just wrapped around with bicycle tires. They kicked as they were kicking a real human body. Ive seen they punched bamboo and broke it.
It looks like same techniques for both Burmese traditional boxing and Muay Thai but there are a lot of different techniques. You will not going to know it until you actually go and see boxers from Burma and Thai Land. Burma is run by Military and not a open country. I think that is the only reason a rest of the world don't know a lot of Burmese traditional boxing. Note : What you see on you tube which is Muay Thai boxer KO. to Burmese traditional boxer was one out off twenty in real fight.

Man they're tough and does goes berserk but they're not precised and that's the sad thing about it... They would might be crippled if they'll face a Muay guy which can throw a fatal shot on any parts of their body.
burmese lethwei fighters have fought fighters from Thailand(thais from bangkok and on the thai-burma border), japanese fighters, american fighters and german fighters. Burmese fighters win over 90% of fights, U can search it on youtube
The guy who posted this is rights its Mauy Thai with Headbutts but there punching isnt spot on and not hitting the target though thats why alot of Thai fighters train in Boxing though i do love watching to Asians go crazy and bash each other and i love the sound effect when some one gets hit
these guys would've dominated ufc in their weight class...but that will propably never happen..ufc wouldnt allow them to participate...i dont blame them..these guys are uncontrolable..good luck trying to bring them to submission or ground fighting..i mean god..they can take the pain and keep on going without gloves on..ufc would've looked like dinseyland to them LOL
LOL then you should see his history and his movies. No Wires. No Bull. He won 5 Muay Thai matches in a row. 20 years of training. 8 hours of muay thai. Tony Jaa can fight
@dpapaioannow I disagree. From what i've seen in this video they're wildly striking with no kinda tactic. I've only seen a few of them actually do it with much skill. I dont think a lot of them would do well in an MMA organization like UFC.
@royallighting7 no tactic?why?because it looks chaotic?...sorry to bring up the bad news but thats what a real fight looks like...CHAOTIC AND WILD and there is very much a tactic at what they do...taking the pain and keep on going is one of them, ufc fighters pain threshold is no way near this thing, plus some lethwei fights played in the old way have moves and strikes that are very much forbidden in the ufc...like headbutting from a clinch, strikes to the back of the head
@dpapaioannow that they have a high pain tolerance, but don't be so quick to say that MMA fighters dont' have high pain tolerance (Forrest Griffin). It mite be that they just dont hit as hard as the average UFCer. I still say that someone with a plan in the fight versus someone who just swings wildly will probably win. There's a place for going HAM on someone though. Its also pointless to compare them as far as rules go. an mma fighter need only to train for a while with the rules in mind.
@royallighting7 yes ufc fighters dont have a pain tolerance to withstand a bare knuckle fight...why?simply because its not what they do...they dont hit hard?i suggest you watch the video again..to you it looks that they swing wildly and whatever happens happens,they...know exactly what they're doing...plan?what plan? real fighting has no plan...this guys are nuts man ;)if you bring the best ufc fighter and the best lethwei fighter in a specific weight class...my money is on the lethwei guy
@royallighting7 too late...you're knocked out cold, your eyes are rolled backwards your whole body is twitching and your tongue is hanging outside your mouth...is that your idea of plan B?look man UFC is great n'all...but this shit is not fucking ufc, this is a whoooooole different ball game, the fights shown here are not in the old way "rules" either...so i think you get the picture,i know...I'VE SEEN THE SHIT UP CLOSE...you literally see teeth and blood flying in the air
@dpapaioannow idk if you think i'm knocking this sport with it's rules or anything, but i have nothing against the sport. I enjoy the sport. it's simply my opinion that a lot of these fighters would do well against an MMA champion from UFC or Strikeforce if they MMA champion came to fight under these rules.
@royallighting7 let me repeat that again...in the old ways, you have NO GLOVES you have NO ROUNDS guy who goes to sleep first or cant continue anymore loses, headbutts are allowed, hits(of any kind)to the back of the head are allowed, hits to the spine(of any kind)are allowed...FUCKING BITTING IS ALLOWED...its brutal, merciless, bloody and CHAOTIC,the way real fights are...no ufc fighter with half a brain would even dare face one of this guys in his weight class, his gonna get FUCKED UP...PERIOD
@dpapaioannow Youre roused up for nothing. the point i'm making is that what separates this from UFC is the rules, that's the fact part. The opinion part is that a champion like GSP would beat one of these fighters under any rules with both fighters being subject to the same rules. If both fighters were allowed to headbutt GSP would only have to take a while to train with those rules in mind and then he'd win the fight. If it were under UFC rules, same. My opinion, you dont' have to agree.
@royallighting7 by the way some lethwei fights even allow biting..but lets say you try to bring them to the ground by moving forward-ducking and try to sweap their legs with your arms...they throw their lower weight backwards like in classical defence in ufc against takedowns...and from that position start pounding the back of your head or back with their elbow,or knee your face...i think thats pretty much GAME OVER...there's too much drama in ufc...too many rules ;)
@dpapaioannow sports have rules to protect the fighters and keep their career going as long as possible (and make money off them). MMA tries to have as few rules a possible while still protecting the fighters as much as possible. In that way, I don't mind and even support the rules of most MMA organizations. However, life or death fighting will bring about things like eye gouging and biting. But sports are sports, and its the rules that make a sports different from another sports.
@royallighting7 and i dont disagree with you...hell i have the outmost respect for the ufc competition and its fighters, but like you said...its a sport with limitations and rules,in that regard this shit right here is even tougher because its got less rules going(which are unthinkable in ufc)and NO GLOVES...and these guys keep on going...by the way, what makes you think that people dont make money out something like this?there are bettings going on allover the place
@royallighting7 officialy the burmese goverment has declared thats it's illegal to contact fights in the old way...but in many villages fights in the old way are still going on to settle disputes..and everyone turns a blind eye about it because even the cops get a piece of the action
Lethwei looks cool, I like it and these guys are fucking tough. But compared to Muay Thai their technique is very sloppy, they also need to learn how to box. Muay Thai looks so much more refined.
Pwaii, i know how you came to that conclusion after i watched your clips. lol....you are bloody moron..butterfly kick, huh? i want to see you use it in a real fight...ROFL
I used to think this video was cool but now i see this more as a video of animals fighting. The burmese need to put some gloves on and market this better. Anyways the thai's would destroy these guys.
I can't believe my own country would have something this brutal and pretty much the most realistic you could get when it comes down to a lethal street fight (minus eyegouges, strikes to vital areas, groin kicks, hair pulling, biting, grappling, submission and death).
They would lose in Pride / UFC, while MMA is as close as fighting comes to in the western world, it's rules are far too restrictive for guys like these which is ironic.
wat r u talkin about nhia80 and sanshoukid? nearly every thai that fights a burmese fighter loses by ko.(btw im not talkin about the burmese who live on tha thai-burma border who fight coz they need money to survive. im talkina bout tha professional fighters from burma. how can thais possibly destroy burmese fighters, they cant even beat australian fighters with gloves on. ive seen 100+ fighters from thailand lose to fighters with less than 20 fights experience from australia. .
burmese boxing isnt suited for the 1 on 1 in a ring fight.... burmese boxing is more suited for the war grounds.. where its groups vs groups... thats when burmese boxing is at its strongest. think about it, these guys are savages and of course they would lose to a thai fighter 1 on 1 in a ring... but in a war like situation... i gotta give it to burmese boxers
also the music you hear they play to the fights sounds diffrent as well the burmese have not yet gotten the sport together yet where they have regulated the sport and they have to wear gloves.
Nice, the first time I had ever witnessed a guillotine choke linked to a beautiful suplex throw was by a Burmese Lethwei practitioner at a kickboxing expo. I was inspired by that and performed the same
Yeah, it's funny... the similarities between martial arts continents apart. That same kind of suplex is also used in Greco Roman wrestling and Freestyle wrestling too, as well as Sanshou/Xanda.

Nice, the first time I had ever witnessed a guillotine choke linked to a beautiful suplex throw was by a Burmese Lethwei practitioner at a kickboxing expo. I was inspired by that and performed the same
move in an MMA match two years later.

Yeah, it's funny... the similarities between martial arts continents apart. That same kind of suplex is also used in Greco Roman wrestling and Freestyle wrestling too, as well as Sanshou/Xanda.
