i dont know why but i really found this movie boring and stupid.. if they did a movie about donkey it would be much better. And they shouldnt have let it play of the the dessert..
i have a lot of fun watch movie i saw this in Imax 3D IT REAL COOL :) but i wood have to gave like a 9 OR A 8 I A GOOD MOVIE real good review guys you guys rook :)
I don't like cats, but man do I love Puss in Boots. He is one of my all time favorite characters and I am totally looking forward to watching the movie.
I definetly am a Puss in Boots kind of person. I thought he was so underused in Shrek and they could of done so much more with him. I had a feeling the movie wouldn't be that great but I was hoping to be wrong. Sad to here no other Shrek characters are in it. Thanks for the review
Odd that you compared this to Rango. I thought Rango was alright. My 3yr old couldn't care less about it. She likes pretty much everything from Ice Age to Shrek to Snow White. She got bored with Rango and I couldn't get her interested after the first 10min sucked so bad. I hope she will not get bored with this. She loves Shrek and knows who "Puss" is so she will probably love it.
I love Puss!! I never go to the movies though. I'll wait until it comes out and I'll rent it at Blockbuster. Yes! I still go to Blockbuster, I hate Netflix.
@GoldenFlither15 I know they shut down a lot of stores all over the country but the one where I live is still open. I would be so sad if they closed down :(
@SandJsTravels Ah, I see. Yes, I've heard a few stores were still open.
I would've been sad if there was no other video rental place nearby. Lucky for me though I had Rogers. I hate how that happened to Blockbuster. And it's not just Netflix (which I admit seems rather convenient); it's the illegal websites that have the movies available.
@GoldenFlither15 Yeah they need to shut those websites down. It only costs a few dollars to rent a movie. Or 10 dollars a month at Blockbuster if you go there all the time.
@SandJsTravels Ugh. Ah well. Wave of the future I guess. One thing that's definitely not dying is the theatre-going. Never the same as seeing it on the big screen.
I've only seen the first two Shrek movies and parts of the others, but i feel like they're milking the series too much and this seems like it's just another movie they managed to squeeze out of it. It does look more appealing than another Shrek movie though, and I can't argue that he's adorable. I'll probably wait to watch it on netflix or something.
@FailedOdyssey Yeah, as soon as Puss hit the screen in the Shrek series I've had to fight with myself to not break down and get a kitten. The story gets slow and the jokes don't hit as often, but still a fun movie. -Ellis
Yes, u guys should review "In Time." I'm intrigued by the concept, just because it's different, and we only really get "different" in movies maaaybe a couple times per year. But I don't think that Timberlake is strong enough for a lead in a movie. So I'm really just excited cuz of the new concept. Seems quite interesting.
Oh! Btw, great review! :-) [I'm not a really big animated movie fan - I tend to really pick and choose when it comes to those - so I don't think I'll see it regardless.
@Patriots571994 Maybe it could be...and I'd pay to see that fight. My money's still on Jaws, and Morgan Freeman better start making more prosthetic dolphin parts asap :) -Ellis
@ryiin Tough for any live-action or animated performance to beat that one, but as far as voice match-to-character look, I think Puss plays with anyone. -Ellis
I saw the film at the austin film festival yesterday. Very well done, but I do agree with you both on rango as the best animated film of the year. Kristian did you ever get a chance to see Cars 2?
@ReviewswithJake1 The only problem I had with 'Rango', while it was really enjoyable on the whole, was that a few of the jokes were very tasteless. It was rather distracting for me. Still beautifully animated, of course, and quite a lot of fun. I just couldn't get past some of the jokes that would, frankly, make Tony Slattery gawk in near-disbelief.
I'll leave the category open. I still REALLY liked 'Kung Fu Panda 2', but I'm almost certain 'Adventures of Tintin' will be the one to shine.
@MafiaMovieMan Yeah, we were both a bit surprised that we didn't catch anything, but I'm ok with it...Puss became my favorite of the Shrek gang anyway :) -Ellis
I'm going to hopefully see this film with my little sister for her 8th birthday because we can't get over how amazing Puss in Boots is! We're so happy that he got his own movie and we're really excited!
@movielover288 Hope you guys both have fun...even at the points when it got a little slow, I just can't get over how cute the cat is. I may have to get one haha. -Ellis
Kevin Conroy = the most perfect voice for batman ever. Arguably the best voice to character match of all time, it gets my vote. Antonio is reallly good as Puss in Boots though.
My favorite animated movie of the year is still Kung Fu Panda 2. This looks good though. Way better than i expected from a Shrek spin-off. The last couple of Shrek films were dreadful.
What happened to coming back to Carolla's podcast? Too busy with your own? Can't hate about having your own thing, just curious. Also, 5 point scale is fine, don't fix what isn't broke!
LOL... You guys are always funny, the reviews are great and I hope you keep it that way. I do agree with PadawanLinea regarding what he says about the rest of the Shrek characters; I think they would be distracting and they would kinda' steal a little of the cat's thunder. It's his story... Btw, ten point system might be a good idea.
Oh come on, you guys. Complaining that the rest of the Shrek crew don't make a cameo? That's the whole point! This PREQUEL (he hasn't met Shrek yet!!) story is to focus solely on Puss, without the rest of the gang to distract us. I think that's a good thing, considering the last 2 Shrek movies were terrible. Plus, this movie takes place in Spain, and the rest of Shrek is in England or Scotland or whatever, so it would be really weird for one of them to just show up out of nowhere.
Eh, I'll probably rent this. I'm worn out with Shrek, though. I loved the first one, liked the second, and the rest...well, you know. And I'm definitely more of a dog person, lol.
@mattffx10 Oh my goodness! Have a GREAT time! :D Just like the rest of Europe, I'm so very excited for that one. And I'm rather disappointed they don't release it here in Canada around the same time. I understand America as they're too busy marvelling at their own American heroes, but Canada - heck where French is our main language besides English...SO unfair!
But hey, I'll be first in line for the picture come December. :) Do let me know how it is if you get the chance. ;)
@cweffer You are right, we left out 3d corner this week. Normally 3D is the best with animation and it is the same in this case. The 3D was pretty good, Dreamworks has their act together when it comes to the technology.
@coldfood10 Well we have it a little easier than Jeremy, being in the Los Angeles area. Since we became regulars on the Adam Carolla podcast and got our own show on moviesdotcom, the studios have been inviting us to the screenings. We have nothing but love for Jeremy. If he ever moves to LA, he knows we will hook him up!
@schmoesknow I'm sorry, but I'm just psyched you guys replied to my comment. ok ok. oooooohh. alright thats cool guys, i was just saying since you guys and jeremy are the only movie reviewers I watch any more because you guys arent douches like a lot of other ones. any way thanks for the reply guys, anf keep on being awesome. :D
Hey Schmoes I love your guys's reviews so don't take this the wrong way but I feel like you guys give movies 3-4 way to often. We rarely hear you give a movie a 5 or even above a 4. If you look at Roger Ebert he gives movies two thumbs up all the time so I think you need to change your grading system slightly so that a 5 is not so prestigious that only three movies per year will get it. Again I'm a huge fan so I don't mean this in a rude way, just a little bit of constructive feedback.
@n00aahh Well actually n00aahh, there have been a TON of movies this year that have hit the 4, 4.5. 5 to me is a movie that just blows me away that I keep thinking about, talking about and love. 50/50 was one of those this year for me as well as Xmen First Class. Ides of March got 4.5 as well. That being said, we have TINKERED with a 10 point schmoe system but right now, sticking with the 5 scale. Love the feedback though! Thank you!!
@schmoesknow I made that comment before the ending, so to answer your guy's question; Yeah, I'm rather interested in this movie, though I have a soft spot for animated movies in general.
