Hi, I must say that I have really been inspired by your videos. I haven't had a relaxer in 7mos and I am trying to go natural. I do have the support from my mother and sister but my close friends are always negative. My hair is not long and I am trying to do this without doing the BC I just need some tips, advice and styling tips. I am so trying not to give in to the creamy crack but with my hair texture being extremely THICK it is so hard for me to hold off.
My hair was texturized a few years. I've been natural for a year now and my hair is curly and wavy at the roots but straighter further down. When I wash my hair I don't have curly ringlets anymore I have waves. Do I have to do big chop? I wash my hair every other week and deep condition every week is that too much? I want my hair to grow long (I have quick growing hair) but it never grows past my bra strap, any quick easy tips. Thank you :)
@reecespiecesbeauty No, you don't wash and deep condition it too much. You have waves at the end of your hair because of the texturizer that is left. The hair at your roots is your natural texture while the hair further down has been altered by the texturizer. The chemical from the texturizer has loosened your natural coils and curls. You don't have to do a big chop. You can trim an inch or so every month or every other month until you get rid of it all.
What conditioners or moisturizing products would you recommend that actually hold retention? I'm currently transitioning and plan to do the big chop on March 1. My hair seems to be very, very dry. I use heat once per week after washing and deep conditioning as I feel I can keep it more conditioned with the straigter style. Thanks in advance for you advice.
@Tanne3363 Try not to flat iron your hair as much. This could be the reason why your hair is so dry. You don't want to damage your curls before you become fully natural. Try wearing curly styles sometimes. Any water-based leave-in conditioner is great. Just make sure no harmful ingredients are in them. Sticking to natural leave-ins is a little easier. And make sure you are sealing your hair after you moisturize it. This is an important step when locking in the moisture.
Soo I watch your videos a lot and i sometimes tell my mom to watch them with me cause your hair is soo beautiful =). Anywho my mom has always been saying that your not all black and that your mixed with something. I always askd her why do u believe that black people cannot grow their hair that long and keep it looking so good. I just wanted to ask "are u mixed"?
I was wearing a press n curl but found out my stylist was using dawn dish detergent to wash my hair so of course I had to let her go lol and now my scalp is dry, I have damage/breakage so I'm giving my hair a break from heat. My hair is still long but not as full and thick as it use to be. I tried a wash and go but now my hair is so dry. I don't want to put in too many products in my hair. What do u suggest for the dryness? Can u suggest a style for natural long hair that will last..Thanks
@favoredjah Vegetable glycerin and water mix is a great moisturizer. Spray on your hair after washing it. Also, deep condition your hair often. It helps to restore moisture into your hair and gets rid of that dry feeling.
this may sound dumb, but i have watched like 10 of your videos and still cant find the answer... hopefully you will see this and answer so i can set a realistic goal time frame. How old is your hair? . Did you get that length after just 2 1/2 years transition? I had a friend guess that in total you have about 4 years worth of hairgrowth. I have your same hair texture (i think) but i have always had short hair. Its to my shoulder tops now. I just wana know how long it may take
@Offended83Shadow No, I didn't get this length after 2 1/2 years. I've been growing my hair for 5 years and 4 months. It started to "look" or be considered long at about 3 1/2 years and its gotten longer and longer every year.
Hii. Im a 16 and im really having a hard time transitioning because my family does not agree with it but I feel like my hair potential is so much more than where its at. In the first couple months I recieved major hair growth and I really like the texture now its alot more difficult and now my hairs a dry mess, I have damage it with dye. Now to end my biography Lol Im really inspired by you and I would really appreciate it if you would "Please" give me some hairstyles and a good hair regimen.
@LoveMzDaniels1995 Hey! Congrats on your decision to go natural! If you go to my tips for transitioners video, it should help you out a lot concerning styles. Curls are the easiest to me. Rod curls, small curls, pic curls, etc. Braids and braid-outs are also good. Get a good leave-in conditioner. Apply it ever time after you wash your hair for moisture and seal it with an oil like coconut oil or shea butter. Also, deep condition your hair frequently. At least twice per month.
Hi, a question about the twists. How long can u keep them in for and what sort of maintenance do they need? They don't ruin the hair or anything after do they? My hair is a lot like yours tho probably a bit ruined by over-dying it annoyingly grrr, trying to get it as long as possible atm but getting a little bored with it hence why I ask about the twists.
baby girl you gotta get these videos monetized!! Might as well make money off of your knowledge!! Also while ya at it, check out my video, i transform from female to male lol and yes i got it monetized!!
Hey, im reaching out to u for sum advice, i dyed my hair blonde bout a year ago, n wanted my black hair back so i dyed it back black, but now i have totally changed the natural texture of my hair, its still curly but its a lot looser,my strands r even finer than they naturally r, n i have split ends at the last 2- 3 inches, u can c that my 3 inches of new growth is a lot thicker than the rest of my length, wat wud u suggest help please.
@Yakiniful Just take your time and grow the damaged part out. Trim a half an inch each month as your new growth is coming in and eventually you will get rid of all of the damaged hair. And make sure you are still treating your hair by deep conditioning and sealing in moisture as you are growing it back out. It's going to take some time but be patient and you will get your thick tresses back:)
Hi my name is Sayber and i have been watching your videos of the natural hair but i have a question that i think no one has asked yet. Ok so i have natural hair already however, i get my hair pressed i say twice a month but i how do i get my hair to like yours. I dont get perms and havent had one since i was 12. My hair seems to be getting shorter and not longer even though im natural. So my question is how do i fully go natural without getting my hair pressed???
@sayberc The use of heat twice a month could be slowing your growth retention. Make sure you are deep conditioning your hair and moisturizing it. Also, try not to use heat as much. Try wearing your hair in protective styles like buns or braids and also heatless styles such as twist outs or braid outs. Heat from pressing combs is usually very high so your hair is probably not responding well which is why it is difficult for you to see length.
I've been watching your vids on YouTube for about 8 months now. Since, I've decided to go natural. I can't even lie...IT'S HARD!!! I naturally have 2 different textures of hair so it's always been easier for me to grab that creamy crack; BUT I have to say that I have noticed a major difference in the thickness and health of my hair!! I decided not to do the big chop, and have been doing co washes and keratin treatments. Do you have any other suggestions?
i think this is what my hair texture will be like when i grow my natural hair out. i currently have a relaxer in and i am letting my hair grow out before cutting the relaxed ends off...
Hi Haircrush, could you do a video with comparison pics of your wash n gos, twists and twist outs? That would be amazing because I saw pics in your fotki when you big choped and a few months after and the difference to now is UNBELIEVABLE. Everyone has to see that. lol
your hair is to die for!!! i fricken love the tight curls at 0:55. i have african hair type, and i know my hair has potential to grow like this, but im kinda lost with what to do.... any videos to help?
@dfnq8 My hair isn't wavy. The waves are from the twist-outs I do. My hair is more coarse with a little curl to it. You can style your hair in many ways once you are natural including the twitouts, braid-outs or even pin curls.
how tall are you , I think you said it before .. just curious cuz i'm tall and I feel like the taller you are the harder it is to tell that your hair is long but you look tall... does this even make sense? lol
@TheBakerBee lol I know what you're saying. I'm like a hair away from 6'0. When you're tall, your back and torso is longer than a woman of average height so in order for most of us (tall drinks of water) to reach waist length, our hair will have to be longer in inches than someone who may be 5'6 and have waist length hair. I used to hear, "She's tall and her hair is long" when I was younger and it used to confuse me. I didn't understand what they meant until I was older lol
This makes me want to rematch all your vids to make sure I'm following your recommendations. LOL. Btw, do you ever have problems with your edges? Like breakage & such.
I LOOOOOOVE, LOVE your hair! I thought I could never find someone who had hair as long as mine AND do different hairstyles. But your hair is definitely longer than mine and much thicker. I love your videos and versatile hairstyles and style in general.
watching youre videos make me wanna go all natural, you know buy all them products lalala, but im not allowed weave unless i buy it. and my hairs proper short, any tips? [im mixrace]
EVERY TIME you make a video i want to go natural i never have before bc i have ALOT of strands and they are thick seems like a chore!!!!!!! idk we will see
Your hair is gorgeous! Those twists are to die for! And why did I just put down my Big Mac when that picture of you in that blue/purple skirt came up?! LOL! You look great
I like your sense of style so it would be cool if you did outfits of the day or night. I also think you have beautiful long hair and you know what to do with it.
U have no idea how many times I've just wanted to put a perm back in my head. But I swear like everytime I get to edge about to get the creamy crack, I see a video of your hair and I'm like I can do it. U have helped me to 2 yrs natural this March. Thanks Chime!!!
You are absolutely beautiful, @Hair Crush!...loooove the hairstyles! The pics speak volumes of the work you have put in to grow and maintain your beautiful hair. My teenage daughter and I are inspired. Blessings...
@perdybirdie You want the girl to spend hours flat ironing her hair just to take a picture for you? Really? Plus Chime's hair is so ridiculously gorgeous and has so litle shrinkage that I don't exactly know what seeing it straight would add.
@SouthernAndSexy89 Definitely! I always have to part my hair over to the left side or make sure the side that is growing back is braided or styled in some kind of way if it is showing.

I like your sense of style so it would be cool if you did outfits of the day or night. I also think you have beautiful long hair and you know what to do with it.

could you show us a picture of your hair straightened? just once?
perdybirdie 3 weeks ago
@perdybirdie You want the girl to spend hours flat ironing her hair just to take a picture for you? Really? Plus Chime's hair is so ridiculously gorgeous and has so litle shrinkage that I don't exactly know what seeing it straight would add.
ananse77 3 weeks ago
That ponytail of your twists. O.O AMAZING!
NaturallyIvy 3 weeks ago
Do you find that your shaved side limits your styles at times or not so much?
SouthernAndSexy89 3 weeks ago
@SouthernAndSexy89 Definitely! I always have to part my hair over to the left side or make sure the side that is growing back is braided or styled in some kind of way if it is showing.
