the only unfortunate thing about the contessa 26 and similiar boats is that i dont see them being built anymore. The full keel with the protected rudder is in my opinion is the best hull design ever built. Just look how protected the rudder is.This design leaves no little weak spots- example- small cutlass shaft holders, or like how morgans, island packet ect have that weak spot that connect the lower part of the rudder to the boat.my alberg is similiar design and i wont have it any other way.
only 13, and getting a contessa 26! well, in my opinion, she's perfect - turns on a dime, and beats to wind like a battleship. a little small to be living in, but you're 13, so i don't think you'll have that problem ;)

Did you find the wind vane worked satisfactorily to steer the boat? Were there any issues due to heavy or light winds with it?

Is it hard to steer it in the harbor and dock it because of the long keel?
